An old-fashioned 1980s hotel that keeps its age well. A nice treat after the unkempt oyos out there. Relatively quiet on the upper floors. Pure veg restaurant attached has a good reputation, but room service is pricey. Daily newspaper is a nice touch, but unnecessary in the 21st century. NB: major roadworks keep the traffic at bay, but confuses delivery drivers. Nearby ATM, Bangcarpet Chaats and excellent pharmacy.
Now UD has introduced Bharjari Uta in this location too. For this reason North Indian A-lq carte service is neglected. Where my parents took South Meals in plantain leaf they got service immediately. Where as for North Indian order for some one to show up to take the order was 10 minutes. I had mentioned specifically to get paneer main course ready first then to order Butter Naan, the person who took the order mentioned we know how to order things well! But At the end got the Naan cold n rubbery! Hardly edible! So me personally would never go to North Indian Service here again!
Eleven members of our family went to UD for lunch on 4th November 2019 and wanted to try their much advertised "Bharjari Oota". Once the service started, a few guests wanted spoons to drink their soup but a supervisor by name Roshan refused to supply spoons saying that spoons will not be given for Bharjari Oota. We found this strange and asked him why. He said that it is a decision by the management and he will not issue. To say the least, his behaviour was arrogant and unbecoming of a supervisor in a hospitality industry. He needs urgent training in dealing with customers. It took some time for other members of serving staff to understand our plight and they obliged. Added to this unpleasant experience, the location of the hotel is also inconvenient for car parking. Ambiance is below average and washroom stinks. Overall it appears to be an over rated place and not recommended for good family outing.…
We visited the restaurant of UD residency for Lunch. They serve Lunch on plaintain leaves with variety of south and north indian dishes. and they call it Barjari oota, and the rate is reasonable and pocket friendly. the taste is good, Place is neat and clean with decent ambience. ,
We stayed at UD Residency for 6 days. Really liked our stay and their service. Good amenities in the room, great location close to everything. We are South Bangalore fans, this is a great location for such aficionados.
We visited this place for a grand family(> 50) lunch. The lunch was indeed a sumptuous one. Food is served on a banana leaf. The dosa, roti, rice, sambar and rasam tasted good. The dining hall is an air conditioned one too. If I had any complains, it was only with the ice-cream cones which weren't crispy.
A very good hotel to stay.. rooms are not very spacious but quite cosy.. service is excellent right from front desk to room boys.. the restaurant in the hotel is quite good and offer scrumptious cuisine.. their barjari oota with a spread of about 20 odd items is a real treat.. service in restaurant also quite awesome...
I visited the restaurant for lunch. Vegetarian lunch is served on a plantain leaf in a traditional way. Starts with a soup .2salads(kosambari),2veg.holige,masala dosa, rotis with dal and mix veg,2 types of Chitranna, plain rice with rasam and sambar, curd rice ,ends with Icecream. This is quite delicious and economical. The hall is a/c and seating arrangement is good. Overall service is very good.
After much thought I went for the so called barjari meals which consists of the following items: 1. 4 types of side dishes, chapathi and a special side dish, Holige with ghee, variety rices (2) plus regular sambar rasam, curd, ice cream. It was so humongousa meal that I could not do justice. For the price it was good value for money. Youngsters can do justice. Overall it is worth trying for gourmets but not for poor eaters especially senior citizens.
We stayed here for a night..it was a bulk booking for wedding. Since it was closer to the marriage hall, we had opted for this hotel for around 25 guests. The stay was really disappointing due to reasons like: - Staff doesnt understand English or Hindi (took us 30mins to explain that we need masala peanuts) - fridge doesnt work - they dont keep ice in the kitchen as well - Most room's AC wasnt cooling - Tiny bathrooms - very old furniture in the room Pay extra and find another hotel if you are planning to stay here.
