On Sep 2010, we visited (22 people) visited this place for team outing. It is around 120 Km from Bangalore (Domlur). It took us around 3 hrs to reach there with 1 break (30 min). Around 2 kms there is ghat section and the roads are quite good after the rain. Be careful and slow while driving because you will be passing through lot of villages. If any doubt for the route ask for Mekedatu. Before entering to Mekedatu you will find one sign board to take right turn and from there the retreat is another 2.5 km. This is the place where you have to pay the jungle charges also. Once we reached there we were welcome through welcome drink (jal jeera) and we were given 2 cottages made of bamboo and hay. Nice cool place but if you are used to fans and ac then probably you will not like it. Then they gave us the briefing and we went for jungle trekking. We crossed Om Hill and went to river cauvery for swiming. One of our friend who pretend himself that he knows swimming he tried to swim in the current of the driver. Suddenly he lost control and he was drowning. Other friends tried to help him to come to the bank but could not. Seeing his facial expression the people from Anandadhama - expert swimmers saved him. We thank God for that. Around lunch time 1.30 PM we came from the river and through there Gurukul (nice place to see where 60 students are studying) we went to the resort and got ready for the lunch. It was a good vegeterian lunch. (non-Veg people - this is purely vegeterian resort). Then they took us for all their activities like Archery, Tarzan Jump, Beam Balancing. Free Fall, Ditch jumping. After this cocrale boat driving to river Cauvery where we tried to locate some crocodiles but it was not in our luck to see them. By then it was evening and we took our tea and snacks and got ready for the return journey. Overall it was a very good place and we all enjoyed. The place is very clean with no plastics. Spa is also available.

Anandadhama is excellent for a weekend stay with either family or friends. The property is spacious and beautiful. There are plenty of activities to do. Food is basic but good. Don't go for log huts, they are tiny and old. Go for two bed room villa house adjacent to log hut or three bed room villa house near the office. Folks are simple and helpful. The prices are reasonable compared to other similar setups nearby. The gurukul is excellent. You will not regret your stay here.

Just returned home with one thot that i will write this review before others are duped
Stayed there for a night and just reached home, The place is done well, Tents are good, Heritage Villa is good, low level staff are the real people who are running the show here, and with their capability and knowledge although they sure are putting a very honest effort, the results are DISMAL due to the overall organizational failure.
Food-BAD(rather horrible, although the tea and breakfast was V.Good, just that you wont want to kill your day for a tea and some snack..
AC doesn’t work, remote is not available – I am fuming coz yesterday was a very hot day there and it was way humid than Bangalore on the same day, couldn’t understand why but that’s how it was
Room service - NONE, after 11PM there is NO ONE to assist you till morning 5AM, that too you will have to put an effort to find them in the day time
No power from 12 to 6PM, they don’t run generators, to hell will your comfort etc. I still got it but after a real hard talk with the guys there, poor chaps, I have nothing against them but the place was baling hot and they refused even fans, forget AC which was already in a bad state
The only guys who are running the show are one a guide/help called Govinda and one some supervisor, both are incapable of handling the most humble clients, forget the demanding ones, and its not their fault, the problem is here is basically no qualified person is planted there to handle guests.
Come night, and you are in a spooky jungle on your own, there is practically no help, nothing. and they don’t have intercom, telephones.... add to it, mobiles dont work, wow. If you dare to go to the staff quarters you will be bullied by their dogs.
So all in all i would not recommend this place for anyone, please avoid this place unless this is the only place in the world you can visit, its way below the mark and is just NOT HAPPENING...

Secluded, Serene, Solace & Scenic aptly would describe this beautiful place on the banks of River Cauvery. Fantastic food that does not hurt stomach & strictly vegetarian. A small lake inside the resort where you can row to your hearts content.
An idle spot for nature lovers, adventorous & yet perfect for family. Must Go

It is on Makedatu, which is 120 km away from the Bangalore city. Once we reached there, we got a welcome drink & we took two cottages (lodges), & in each cottage they had four beds & they were nice & clean. The lodges are made up of bamboo & hay which is very cool. Then we had been briefed about different activities. We started with the jungle trekking & then crossing the Om hills, we went to river Kaveri for swimming. Around lunch time we came out from the river & went to Gurukul, where 60 students were studying and they then explained everything about the Gurukul. Then we got lunch which was vegetarian in that resort as non veg was not available in that resort. After lunch we were taken on different activities like Archery, tarzan jumping, balancing beam, free falls, pitch jumping. Then in the evening, we were taken to boating in the Cocral boat. After boating, we were given tea & snacks. Overall, it is an eco-friendly place to stay. Spa is also available at additional cost.

Pros: 1. I badly needed peace in midst of nature. So this place was good enough for that. 2. Food was healthy and nice. 3. Spa service was really good. 4. Place is beautiful. The river, lake, boat, ducks, scenery were really really good. 5. The room is really good.
Improvement needs to be done: 1. The outdoors are not maintained well. Dried leaves everywhere. Even at the entrance. Looked like an abandoned haunted place at first. 2. Hammock swings should be at a place where there is enough shade. We requested to shift an unused hammock swing (which was right under hot sun) to next to our room but they refused. A private hammock swing to sleep on would be great. 3. Welcome drink is a bottle juice which is clearly just sugar water with flavor essence and not cold in the hot climate. I would suggest fresh chilled juice instead. 4. The place is too difficult to search for and is too interior and no one to tell the way and no boards. 5. They should provide transport facility. In fact they will get more business if they do.

Let me start with the positives first, because this is a shorter list. The food was excellent at all times, although there is a lot of miscommunication about when the food is served. There are also lots of bicycles to use, and activities for those who are interested. The setting of the property is great, lots of birds and the river nearby. You will have your own private section of the Cauvery to swim in, and they provide life-jackets if you want to go in deeper. Now to the troubles we had. The 3-bedroom villa we were given looked nice from outside, but our 2-day stay was quite a painful experience. We are a non-fussy, large family, content with basic facilities but the poor management of the property, and the lack of concern of the management, left us very unhappy. We had senior citizens with us who don't travel that often, and I was upset that we had put them through this. Here is why: ==== - The 3-bedroom villa we stayed in had been used for something else in the past. There was junk dumped everywhere (see pics). An old wheelchair, many posters, an old and rotting massage chair, etc. Overall maintenance was very shoddy. It gave the feeling of staying in an abandoned warehouse.
Upstairs there were rooms with signs saying "Panchakarma clinic" etc, which opened to reveal old massage tables and broken stuff lying around. No massages were offered when we were there, so it looked like we had been given the old spa villa.
- The second day of our stay, from afternoon onwards there was no water in the bathrooms. The staff--a person called Ajith and two others, one a young kid-- spent several hours trying to fix the problem and at the end, we were left with brackish water available in just one of the three bathrooms (see pics). These three staff tried their best, but they couldn't do much. The fault lies higher up, with management who haven't bothered to spend time or money on maintenance. - Of the three rooms we were given, only one had a ceiling fan but that was broken. The others had wall-mounted fans that are inadequate for the heat, even at night. There was a barely-functioning A/C in one of the rooms, so half of us ended up sleeping there and half of us in the hall. We expected the weather to be hot but is asking for a basic ceiling fan in each bedroom too much? ==== After all this, we wondered why we had paid for three rooms and a "villa" if it was going to be so bad. Overall, the property seems derelict and neglected. There are huge piles of uncleared leaves everywhere. The dining room is hardly ever cleaned--a lot of tea had been spilt and left like that for over a day. One of the staff members told us that the management had been thinking of closing the place some time back, and this is the impression we got. If you do go there, don't take this villa that we had--this is the one near the cycle shed.

Anandahama is a wonderful place for nature lovers and group outings. From trekking and nature walks to adventure sports. We arrived at 11.30 and we were greeted with welcome drink(jaljeera) and biscuits. After we went to our tent and took a short rest, we went for a 2.5km trek and after about 50 minutes,we reached the peak and the scenery was picturesque. We had a photo session, and went to play in Sangama . At around 1.30, lunch was served. After lunch we retired to our cottages for a short rest and and at about 3.00 we went for adventure sports. Tarzan rope, balancing branches, etc. They also offer coracle rides in an artificial pond. It was a fun and an exciting trip.

This is a very peaceful, picturesque location, right on the river banks , very close to Sangama near Kanakapura. The resort is decent, being a vegetarian and tee-totaller, i loved the fact that alcohol, tobacco and non veg are not encouraged here. Like the other reviewers said, dining area is not something one would expect from a good quality resort, but it is not that horrendous either, when the power goes off, unless they start the generator it becomes a bit of a horror experience, other wise, had 24 hours of world forgetting peace. There are some aspects they have to improve upon, but none of them are deal-breakers, one would not regret visiting this place. My wife and I had a good time there.
