The resort is a large green property laid out on the banks of the Indus River. Just 6 or 7 bungalows/ chalets with a magnificent view of the mountains and river. There are walking trails and you get to see and hear lot of birds. Nick, Mary, Jigmet and their team take a personal interest in the property. The love and affection shows. Excellent food with generous proportions. There is no TV/ Phone and this was a big plus for us. Wifi could be patchy away from the main sitting / dining area.... no problem..with the views outside and a book in hand you don't miss social media or internet. The beds are very comfortable. We stayed in a bungalow which fits two. The main common sitting/dining area is tastefully appointed. They are able to arrange travel to the city.
We couldn't have asked for a more comfortable place to stay in, better food, friendlier hosts. Nico would always take the time to share his knowledge of Ladakh, suggest where you should go, or tell you why you shouldn't. He also offered us a team of excellent cab drivers. As chef, Mary saw to it that you had ample, good food to eat and gave us tips on local ingredients. I loved the evening bonfire and star gazing, and truly appreciated the attempt to be subtle, have a small carbon footprint in an ecologically fragile area. I had the impression that Mary and Nico love and respect the environment in which they live and work and that rubs off on you. Thank you both for a wonderful time!
Rooms were ideal and comfortable Location was exquisite - Right on the banks of Indus River Jigmet and Nico and the entire team were extremely courteous, friendly and helpful. Unforgettable memories of this property Highly recommended if you want to enjoy nature and be away from the hustle and bustle of Leh Town.
Heaven on Earth-Stay at Indus River Camp It was my first visit to Leh. Visited Leh with family from 16 th May to 23 rd May 2022. Did a lot of research before booking a resort. Fell in love with Indus River Camp Resort even before landing in Leh. The booking experience was very nice and Nick made it very easy n smooth. It was a 20 minutes drive from Airport to the resort and once you enter the Bamboo gate inside the 40 acre property, you get mesmerized with the view. The grandeur of the majestic mountains, the gurgling Indus River, the flora n fauna, the chirping of the birds make you feel that you have landed in heaven. The reception from staff specially Jigmet was warm and lively. The check in to the resort was so nice, it felt like a family . The owners Nick n Mary regale you with all the minute details about the property andNick specially explained various places of interest in Leh with the help of a huge handpainted map of Leh n Ladakh which occupied a prominent place in the reception area. We stayed for 3 days at Chalet 1 and 2. The 360 degree view from my chalet of the Indus River,Stok Kangri,Kardungla pass were breathtakingly beautiful. Star gazing and Bonfire at night after dinner near the reception area makes it more magical. All the 3 days they served excellent food-Indian, continental, Asian with yummy array of breads. The breads are prepared in-house. They even baked a cake for my sister for celebrating her birthday. The owners n their team of staff are so passionate about their work, it is a pleasure to interact with them. On the whole our stay was awesome. Ye Dil Mange More . Absolutely a must visit place in Leh. Big thanks to Nick,Mary,Jigmet and all the staff members who looked after us like a family. …
I stayed at the Indus River Camp for over a week at the beginning of September 2021. It was a genuinely unforgettable experience. Many of Ladakh's amazing other-worldly qualities can be best experienced at the Camp, whether it's being able to sit by the riverside to enjoy the sunrise or sunset, take in the views of the stunning milky way at night, or go on a short walk to see the unique Bactrian camels. It was very peaceful, and the cabins were lovely and very comfortable, with all the amenities you'd expect. The Camp is making commendable efforts to run itself sustainably and minimize generating waste. Special mention to the kitchen run by Mary with really exceptional food, many interesting locally sourced ingredients, and tasty yet very healthy menus (often hard to come by when travelling). The host and manager, Nico, is always available and extremely knowledgeable and helpful with any travel advice and travel bookings. All the Camp staff were also very kind and helpful to me -- I had a lovely time practising yoga on the morning deck with the in-house instructor Konchok with a backdrop of the mountains that I will never forget, and a really fun afternoon shopping for antiques in Leh's main market with Jigmet. Thanks for such a wonderful visit, and I truly look forward to being back soon!…
This is not a hotel.. it's an experience. "Beautiful cottages are made on the bank of Indus river surrounded by mountains and greenery". I guess this is the best way to describe this place. Lived there for 5 days in September 2021 and it was beyond expectation. Staff, service and most importantly Food, is amazing. They serve you with fresh and Jimpo (Jimpo: delicious in Ladakhi) food. Simply loved it. Perfect place to begin your Ladakh journey. Niko, Mary, Jigmet , Vijay love you all. Continue doing good work. Rooms, washroom, cleanliness, view from the room , food, greenery , people .., and I can keep on writing. Everything is amazing here.
The place was a real find, totally unexpected and exceeded expectations. It's unique with an ideal location right on the river Indus. A very large property spread out over acres with very few cottages; ensures tranquility privacy and an ambience that is calming and perfect for a holiday. Nicco and Mary render a very personalised service, which , while being very attentive is not intrusive. The food is a rarity in terms of being fresh, nutritious and very thoughtfully crafted. They take the concept of Eo friendly very seriously and to another level all together I have to mention that, Jigmet ,who works in the on site office, is exemplar in her care and concern for the guests; she is most welcoming and always willing and able to take take care of any exigency Without qualification I can state that it was one of the best stays ever !…
Located on the bank of Indus river, just 10 mins from Leh town. The property is spread over 40 acres in the lap of nature with exquisite sunrise & sunset. Exceptionally good hospitality by Mary & Nico and great team of staff headed by Jigmet. Delicious homemade granola, bread & every meal prepared by Mary with the locally sourced ingredients is something we'll definitely miss. Without doubt, one of the best locations we have stayed in and strongly recommend a stay when in Leh.
Indus River camp is run by Mary and Nico and they are excellent hosts. The location, the food is incredible. The cabins, cottages, tents are located on Indus River bank. The place is also good for star gazing. Staff is courteous. Small library and gift shop is also nice. Loved our short stay at the camp. Would love to come back soon.
A beautiful place - 15 in drive from Leh Market. We stayed here for four nights . Nico , Mary, Jismet and other staff made our stay wonderful. They have immense knowledge about Ladakh region and can make the best itinerary for you. You should make the camp your base, and travel around Ladakh region. Food was superb. Homely cooked meal - ready for suggestion ( with prior notice ), always served with a smile. I recommend this place for anyone losing a camp stay- do not expect out 5 star luxury. Good Luck Indus River Camp. See you guys soon.
