Beautiful LADAKH....Must visit Ladakh We enjoyed our stay at grand himalaya hotel .... 5 minutes walking distance to the main market.... Helpfull staff, good food big rooms, the lobby is amazing.... We hope to come back again in future.............
The rooms are well appointed with central heating. Views from the balcony are excellent - you can view the Stok Kangri range from the higher floors. The lobby and restaurant are visually appealing. Food was lovely. Furniture is classically wooden carved and adds to the appeal of the hotel. Staff was very pleasant and hospitable. I travelled in May '21 at the peak of the lockdown. The staff made my stay very comfortable despite the challenges of the lockdown. Overall an excellent stay at the Grand Himalaya. Would love to be back.
A very good experience..,,,,,,,,,,, Service, food and staff are good The oldest property in town......... The hotel has a balcony ,rooms were big and the ambiance was excellent....We recommend this property n best wishes..........................
Very poor house keeping, you have to keep asking for all the amenities. Untrained staff. Poor room service and average food. All in all avoidable as it’s not value for money as per the tariff. Not recommended.
I stayed in this hotel with my family from 2/09/21 to 04/09/21. When we reached were given rooms instantly. One room was good but other two rooms had no view at all & even balconies were under construction. Service is so bad that I asked for hot water bag at 2.30 p.m & was again had to ask at 4.30 p.m( just wanted to check how much time they need to prepare hot water) Good is so bad that would advise to go only for breakfast with them & for lunch & diiner go for restaurants which are very nearby to hotel. Staff is cooperative specially Mr.Kuldeep Rana If you can better avoid this hotel & go for Shangri-La which is better service wise & food wise & their rooms are excellent. I am recommending Shangri-La because rate wise both are same.
Grand Himalaya , is an amazing hotel with warm hospitality, great food and most importantly amazing historic and interior. Each and every corner and wall is dressed stylishly with items that have seen grand adventures, battles and or celebrations. Award winning photos too. Great location, just next to Leh palace in the heart of Leh centre. A must stay and enjoy! Thank you Sajid & Zia Darokhan for your warm welcome and hospitality . We had a lovely time with you both. We look forward to visiting again soon best wishes 🎋

Excellent overall experience! The hotel, while being very close to the main market and Leh palace, is situated in a quiet pastoral setting. Many reviews mention the cultural richness displayed in the lobby, it’s well deserved, a delight! The rooms are spacious with modern bathrooms and great views, my room had nice views of a mountain range, comfortably furnished and slept very well during my stay. I found the service to be excellent, the hotel staff were very attentive, attending to every need. Very oriented to guest comfort and experience. The restaurant staff took very good care of me, and I found the food to be excellent (very well prepared tandoori chicken imo, breakfast as well) I had the good fortune and pleasure to spend an evening with the owners/brothers, Sajid and Zia. Real gentlemen, a generosity of spirit and a genuine hospitality that is rare in today’s world. Deeply moved! The building/hotel has been in their family since 1904 and the first official hotel when Leh was opened for tourism. The hotel is a very personal project and they have put a lot into it, from guest experience to showcasing Ladakhi artifacts and culture in the lobby. The fascinating stories behind the artifacts gave me an interesting insight into the region, it’s history and their family, I was thankful for the opportunity. Much appreciated! Enjoyed my time there very much.…
i found western style mattress very welcoming since altitude acclimatization takes time often spent in the bed. room was spacious and balcony faced the highest pick in the area. i even was able to go to the roof and take morning panoramic shoots with rising sun. bathroom was adequate with large shower space. only issue is limited number of english speaking staff and Indian only breakfast. one unexpected issue was requesting room make up, if you don't ask you don't get it, leaving electronic entry key behind to facilitate it was also peculiar and there is no safety box in the room.
