The rooms are well appointed with central heating.
Views from the balcony are excellent - you can view the Stok Kangri range from the higher floors.
The lobby and restaurant are visually appealing. Food was lovely.
Furniture is classically wooden carved and adds to the appeal of the hotel.
Staff was very pleasant and hospitable. I travelled in May '21 at the peak of the lockdown. The staff made my stay very comfortable despite the challenges of the lockdown.
Overall an excellent stay at the Grand Himalaya.
Would love to be back.

The property is good. Dining area is styled with lots of antiques. Rooms are big and comfortable.
But the balconies are v small and useless. View from very few rooms is good. We had 4 rooms and none of the rooms had a good view. There are no lawns, a very small open sitout place. The breakfast and dinner buffet had limited options. Food was fine. The front desk manager was not available most of the times. As Leh was fully occupied in our days, we settled with this option...

I stayed in this hotel with my family from 2/09/21 to 04/09/21.
When we reached were given rooms instantly.
One room was good but other two rooms had no view at all & even balconies were under construction.
Service is so bad that I asked for hot water bag at 2.30 p.m & was again had to ask at 4.30 p.m( just wanted to check how much time they need to prepare hot water)
Good is so bad that would advise to go only for breakfast with them & for lunch & diiner go for restaurants which are very nearby to hotel.
Staff is cooperative specially Mr.Kuldeep Rana
If you can better avoid this hotel & go for Shangri-La which is better service wise & food wise & their rooms are excellent.
I am recommending Shangri-La because rate wise both are same.

The service is very very poor. The receptionist was not welcoming at all. The dining staff was not eager to serve. The buffer was very limited considering the price they are charging for the rooms.
The parking space is limited and it took me more than 30 minutes to take my car out of parking.

My wife and I travelled to Ladakh in August 2014 for a 13 day trip. We were advised to stay in a good hotel at Leh as that would be the centre point of all our travel around Ladakh. After much research we zeroed in on the Grand Himalaya for our stay at Leh. On arrival we were given a very warm traditional welcome. While the hotel has a brilliant team of professional management and staff, it was nice to know the owners themselves stayed on the property immediately giving it a very warm feel. The rooms were luxurious, clean and warm (we shifted between three rooms during the 6 nights we spent there) as we were travelling around Ladakh and returning back to Leh for a few rest days. The bathrooms were big, clean and had 24 hours hot water available which is a must have. The hotel is a short walk from the market which is a good thing as walking up hill even for a short distance can get tiring at this altitude.

Special thanks to the manager Mr. Kuldeep who helped us plan our travel itinerary very well and also helped us get a good driver and car for the trip and ensured that our stay was very comfortable. The owners and their family made very pleasant company over a cup of tea in the evenings.

While the restaurant in the hotel had good food, the menu was limited. The buffet breakfast spread was decent, but got very repetitive after a few days. This is one aspect we hope to see changed for the future. However special mention must be made of the staff who were extremely helpful and co-operative.

The last bit of delight was when they gave us a free upgrade to the suite during the last two nights of our stay.

Overall a brilliant experience and we would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting Leh

It was my first visit to Leh Ladakh with a group of 20 & I stayed at Grand Himalaya for 4 nights (seems less now)! This property is located at a walking distance from market area. Clean rooms, 24 hours hot running water, amazinngggg food & excellent hospitality is all what this A+ hotel is all about!! This is one of the very few hotels with lift elevator inside. Free access to WiFi (with two backups!) Hotel staff is very friendly & helpful. The staff did their every bit to make it memorable for us!! Be it the arrangement of cultural program, the amazing delicacies or the bonfire.. Every little detail was taken care of!! We had asked for a common seating area for Karaoke game for our group, they offered their presidential suite to us where we had a gala time. I truly appreciate the hospitality!! I visited almost 9 hotels in Leh and this hotel has at par services & staff that can easily beat a 5 star in town side!! They will always greet you with a welcoming smile each time you meet. If I visit Leh again I would only stay in Grand Himalaya (or maybe I will plan to stay only in Leh for a long weekend just to spend quality time with my family at this hotel since this is just an hour away from Delhi by flight) & would recommend the same to the rest. Thank you Zia, Sajid, Dai-ji, Kuldip, Kumar and all the staff for all your efforts put in! If you ever come to Leh, make sure you stay at Grand Himalaya at least once & spend an evening sipping varieties of tea they serve chit chatting with Ziya & Sajid. They make amazing company with the experiences & chats they share..I miss this part the most about my stay here :-) Keep rocking guys!! Thumbs up! :-)

The pleasure of staying in Grand Himalaya was truely worth. For a first timer to Leh like me and my family it was quite a luxurious experience when compare to other hill station travel. We will be always recommending this hotel to our friends an family visiting Ladhak.
