The homestay at upper tukcha road in Leh called the Gang Shun homestay is wonderful for solo and group trekkers as the property is apt for adventure people looking for a comfortable and affordable stay. The owners are helpful and caring and there is hot running water available all the time.

ATTENTION OWNER OF GANG-SHUN HOMESTAY IN LEH LAHAKH VERY DANGEROUS GUY The old man the owner of Gang-Sung Homestay Leh Ladakh, He hit me on my face. As we arrived in late afternoon he was not atguest house only stuff. Stuff informed him that we are 5 people. we had booked 2 double rooms for 3 person and had written we are maybe 4 because I was not sure at that time if our Car driver from Srinagar to Leh will be my brother. so my brother took his son with him to be not alone when he drives back to Srinagar, because we 3 (I, my wife and our daughter) going to stay longer in Leh Ladakh for our Holidays, after Chick in guest house we three men went to main market in Leh and my wife and daughter stayed at guest house my wife says Some time 9 PM the Owner of guest house came to my wife has fixed for extra bed for extra person extra Money every thing was ok. my wife found towes was used and pillows was dirty (marks, dark colour and hair hanged on pillows). I went down and told stuff and got changed. And said the shoes are not allowed in house because they don't want that we go with shoes through the house she told him that is fine. From to city I trying call my wife from main markt but our phone dose not work in Leh, I rang to the guest house the owner has replay and said we have no guest on this Name. I told him the room No and he shouted on phone I told we have no guest on this name droped the phone. (I was going to ask my family shuold I bring some food with me for them) so this guy did not give or allow me to talk to my wife, My poor family must sleep without food. Now is intrsting storry. As we arrive back in guest house from City it was 10:30 PM, There was one guy from stuff in floor, I asked who was on telephone he said I did not get any phone call but maybe the Boss has gotted meenwile the owner came He said we have not resived any phone call from you, maybe we have dial wrong Number I said maybe, ask my nephew just dial the same number again and his Mobli start ringing and he switch it off I ask him why you give wronge informatiom you are liar and he just HIT on my face loose his control we were shoked just shout on us he has not listen to any of his stuff or his family shouted and shouted tryed to hit again, said you are not my guest I call the Police, then I told him I call the police then they will proof if I am your guest or not. How came you hit his guests then his wife came she told him about also then comm down, he knew he hit me he will be in troble, then my wife stoped me to go to police. As I told him I am a citizen Germany. then he started apologize. I have some Photos and the Video of situation

We booked this hotel 2 months before our trip just to secure our stay,we also received a confirmation for the same, while booking we mention can check -in any time as we were coming from Srinagar .But the day we reached we faced a male care taker of this hotel who shocked us by saying ''no rooms available'' as we were holding confirmed booking we asked for Owner and Mr sonam arrived after 15-20mins and starting lying and changing his words which was obvious. He offered other hotel to stay which we didnot liked and we refused after few conversation we were asked to either stay in the offered hotel or do whatever you want. Being a hotelier he cannot say like this and his behaviour was not acceptable at all. Suggestion- If anyone is booking Gangs Shun Homestay and received confirmation then too plz book other hotel for your back up because here possibilities are very high wherein you have to stand out of this hotel along with your huge luggage and confirmation email.

One the most disappointing and disheartening experience of my life was with gangs shun home stay. Ladakhis are known to be helpful but i guess this word has no meaning for those who run gangs shun. We were scheduled for arrival on 8-sept-17. we had reserved our rooms through bookings.com. We were very happy as Ladakh was our dream destination which was going to be fulfilled finally. Little did we know that we were going to have a shock of our lives. We came in a little late in the morning to the hotel but when we reached our hotel we found out that our rooms had been given to some foreigners probably thrice the rate than what we have quoted. On seeking help and answers to this the owner(Mr. Sonam) straightaway shook his hands off and kept us stranded in the middle of Leh not even having the courtesy to call us before giving our booked rooms to someone else. I have always expected my stay to be hospitable. But if this would be the case in the future i would recommend not to book with this hotel.

The only worst person I met in Leh was Mr Sonam, who runs Gangs Shun Homestay. Utterly rude person and inhuman. We already had our confirmed booking in Gangs Sgun Homestay, due to some reasons we couldnt check in till afternoon. So he gave away room to some other guests without having any courtesy to ask us whether we will be checking in or not. When asked the reason, he said i get my money so I didnt bother to inform you. When asked what shall we do now we are stranded. He raise his hands off the issue. He also added-Mostly Indians dont turn up so we gave away room to other guests. So i am pretty much sure that he charges foreigners double or thrice the amount during walk in. He is disgrace to humantiy. But whatever happens, happens for good. We got our accomodation in the most loved guest house Yountan Guest House owned by sweet couple. A home like hospitality. Aunty and Uncle treated as family members. Contact details +919419219519.

Our room was large and clean, with very comfortable bed. Family were welcoming and courteous. We only stayed one night as we decided what our plan was, but would have been comfortable to stay longer. It is away from town, about ten min walk, but worth the walk as it is a quiet area. The garden was a bit overgrown while we were there but still quaint.

Had a choice of rooms on arrival... decided to stay downstairs in room number 6.. as chosen by my lovely host... daughter of Dr Morup... Norzin. Spacious, clean and comfy enough. Senior Mrs Dolma cooked a traditional dish of Thupka.. although not a fan of red meat - it was not relayed by my agent.. BUT.. it was the best dish of lamb I had ever tasted. With so much effort with Junior Ms Dolma - the house help and Mrs Dolma.. it was well worth the wait when it got served. The hospitality was just lovely...I will definitely spend longer with the family next time I visit and will recommend the experience of this home stay to my friends and family. It is a 10 minute walk to the market and quite a lot of cafes/restaurants in the surrounding area. With the development/renovation it will be even more lovely... thank you for your hospitality Dr Morup and Family.. adopted cat and kittens!!

Myself and a friend stayed here on off over the course of two weeks in between treks and scooter trips. It was such a lovely stay. The family were so kind and welcoming, the home is beautiful and traditional, the dinners are delicious and the location is very peaceful. If I come back to Leh I'll definitely choose gangs shun again. We were made to feel at home from the moment we stepped in, without booking, dishevelled from our manali marathon drive. We arrived late and unannounced, yet they cooked us a delicious (and huge) Indian meal right way. Brilliant stay!
