In the summer of 2024 I planned a trip for our family (couple + two children 15 and 17) to India. The plan was to fly to Leh immediately after arriving at Delhi International Airport. Given the altitude and the long journey, I thought it was very important to arrive in a nice place to be able to acclimatize properly for a few days. For us, comfort, tranquility and authenticity are very important. During the online search for a suitable hotel, I came across the review of the Indian vlogger Dheeraj. It was the deciding factor for me. Although the hotel does not (yet) have its own website, I easily came into contact with Stenzin via the contact details. Stenzin was easily accessible via whatsapp and kindly informed me about possibilities.
Due to bad weather conditions, the flight to Leh was unfortunately delayed by a day (we had to wait a long time in Delhi), but for Stenzin and his beautiful daughter Angmo that was no problem. The booking could be easily adjusted and on arrival the hotel exceeded all our expectations! The welcome was truly heartwarming, with the traditional tibetan white scarf and camille tea from our own garden. She is good against the altitude disease told Angmo, and so she has always advised us in the days since on how best to acclimatize. They kept an eye on our health in a pleasant way. The atmosphere is so harmonious in this beautiful family hotel!. Angmo’s little sister is very friendly and interested! Just like their mother. The staff is also friendly and committed. We felt very much at home there. The rooms are spotless, there is hot water and the view of the garden (in which own vegetables are grown) is breathtaking. The meals are prepared as much as possible with the vegetables from their own garden. It was delicious! During the day and at night it is wonderfully quiet, it is far enough outside the center of Leh, but still very easy to reach on foot: it is a simple 20-minute walk to Leh market.
Angmo and Stenzin have also helped us enormously with arranging our permits and taxis for local transport, they consider that an extra service to their guests that they do not count on for a raise. And they could tell us a lot about the culture of the ladakhis and the challenges of our time in terms of climate change and (mass) tourism.
Meanwhile we have been back in the Netherlands for a few weeks and we miss India. There are many reasons to want to go back to beautiful Ladakh. But the first reason is undoubtedly the enormous hospitality we experienced at Hotel Gangba. Many thanks Stenzin and Angmo!

Me and 6 of my family are enjoying a very personalised holiday at Gangba hotel. Mr. Stanzin had planned my full itenary for the entire stay including acclimatisation to the terrain and the time to rest, cars had been booked according to requirements. It’s my 6 th day here and I could stay on more.Dolma has been taking care of the food which is simple and just what you need . The place is well kept , large toilets and hot water in the taps . I do feel an in-house laundry service would add on to the amenities and services already provided. One may feel that comparatively the room tariff may be high from the cheaper stays available in Leh, but it’s been worth paying a little more than the others for a flawless stay including the trips to Nubra, Hunder,Pangong lake . All organised by Stanzin.I recommend this place to all.

Do not hesitate and choose this hotel. My group consisted of five people, all of whom were the first Ladd. For all five of our group, this place was very satisfying and perfect hostel. We stayed here for eight days, and in the middle of the other Trips they provided the utmost convenience to keep their luggage and make Trips and return comfortably. The food at this hotel was very luxurious and satisfied our tastes more than any other restaurant. It was especially impressive when I made the Lada tradition of bread in the morning. The food made with organic vegetables that our families were growing was really great. Only in the hostel with a beautiful garden seemed to be a hill. The hotel is clean and close to the city centre. The families were all very friendly and cared for and helped us a lot. They have been really cherished and welcomed and now they miss them. Next time I go to Ladakh I will go to this hostel and I will recommend it to many 👍👍👍👍

This hotel is more like a home stay with a very warm and gracious hosts - Dolma and Stanzin and their excellent staff. The rooms are spacious and clean, hot water is available round the clock in the bathrooms, the food is healthy with lots of home grown vegetables. During our 10 day tour of Ladakh it was a welcome refuge to come back to after the sightseeing. The pricing is extremely competitive and Ganba delivers excellent value for money. Stanzin will organize anything you want him to - in our case it was my wife Margaret's 68 th birthday on 8th June and we were treated to a delicious Ladakhi dinner at his house and he even organized a birthday cake fr her!

Stanzin and his wife Ms Dolma run a perfect all in one Ladakh experience between them. His ear to ear smile and omnipresence is extremely reassuring. Everyone gets an ‘out of the way’ personal involvement. Be it thoughtfully arranging a discerned itinerary, sampling choicest Ladakhi cuisine or weather forecasts. They seemed to be monitoring and mentoring even when we are on a third party arrangement at Pangong or Nubra . It’s an airport pick up to airport drop arrangement with all else in between. Coming to specifics , the home stay provides squeaky clean rooms with all amenities, a commanding southern view of lofty Himalayas and a kitchen garden patch to boot. It’s a stand alone farm to fork organic concept dealt ever so delectably. He even packed those giant cauliflowers, brocoli in abundance, apples and apricots in a ‘little bag’ for us to carry back home. Stanzin can guide you through the maze of spotting a snow leapord, riding a mountain bike, peep through the astronomical observatory telescope at Hanle and a visit to Hall of Fame with panache, alacrity and elan. We will be back again for more - For Sure.

We had a wonderful three-night stay at Hotel Gangba. The staff’s hospitality was evident from the moment we arrived. They welcomed us with warmth and were attentive to all our needs, even arranging transportation for our early morning departure.
The owners, Mr. Stanzin and his wife, were always present, ensuring everything was perfect. Their dedication and personal touch made us feel at home. They helped us plan our daily activities and provided great recommendations for local dining.

This place offers you the epitome of love, care and services. The food they serve is homely and feels very comforting. Gangba is owned and maintained Mr. Stanzin and his lovely family. Every single thing in the place is customized and you can see the amount of efforts put into building, decorating and maintaining the place. The view from the room is beautiful and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
This place is not only beautiful, it is also very soothing to the soul. Also, Mr. Stanzin have a heart of gold and is a gem of a person. My wife fell sick and was having breathing difficulty. He came to our room, offered to take her to the hospital and assured us that he shall be available and would personally take her to hospital any time she feels like. Had it not been for him and the support he extended, we would have returned from Leh and would have missed the most beautiful parts of the journey onwards. The amount of compassion shown by him and his family during our stay, is something we rarely see in commercial places. But again, such a soulful place cannot be labeled as a commercial establishment.

A beautiful place. My fourth time. Gangba is so nice, there is no reason to look for any alternative. The homestay is stable and well kept over the years. The large kitchen garden is branching out into a few new vegetables. The neighborhood is still quiet and peaceful, a short walk to Shanti Stupa, and about 12-15 minutes from town center. The views of the Stok range are inspiring. But what sets Gangba apart is the friendliness of the family. For a foreign guest, getting to know the interplay of the generations from younger to older is really a treat. Again as a foreigher, enough English is spoken that we can go beyond basics into some cultural interchange. When it comes to local connections and touring recommendations, Stanzin has it covered. On this most recent trip, he arranged an excellent, safe and appropriate driver to take me to Kargil. Last time (2019) he bailed me out finding a safe, reliable taxi on short notice from Lahaul when ambition outranked skill on a bicycle voyage. Gangba food is standard N. Indian veg fare done hygienic, fresh, and healthy. If you want fancy, go to town center. Overall vibe is calm, relaxed, and highly competent.
