I and my wife visited Leh last month and spent about 10 days there. We were advised to rest for 48 hours and acclimatize with the high altitude and low oxygen levels so as to avoid any medical problems. It is better to follow such precautions when visiting high altitude areas. High altitude sickness can be dangerous.
After two days of rest we began visiting various places including Nubra valley, crossing Khardungla pass almost 18000 ft high. Leh and surrounding areas are amazingly beautiful and is indeed a photographer’s paradise. We had a really wonderful time.
We stayed at the Grand Dragon Hotel, a superb hotel with modern amenities. It is about 3km from Leh airport, about 20 minutes’ drive. The hotel provides pick-up and drop-off facilities upon request.
The most striking feature of the hotel was its cleanliness. The hotel Manager Mr. Ramzan is very friendly and most accommodative, and that made our stay most comfortable. Our rooms were already ready even though we had arrived nearly two hours earlier. The front desk was very prompt, and both check in and check out were done in minutes. We got a beautiful spacious room with a lovely view of the mountains. The rooms were sparkling clean and the linen, pillows, towels etc were exceptionally clean.
Room service was excellent and very fast. The housekeeping staff were very attentive to our requests and extremely prompt. Every request was attended to in a matter of minutes and their promptness is indeed commendable. We truly appreciated such service.
Their restaurant serves amazing food, always freshly prepared and delicious in taste. Being vegetarians, and in a place like Leh, it was indeed a delight to have so many options for tasty food. The staff was most helpful attending to our special requests quickly and took every care regarding allergies, spice concerns and dietary requirements. Our thanks are particularly due to Mr. Sunil and Mr. Jasar who attended to our table most of the times.
The hotel is very well equipped and has a doctor on site if needed. They also arranges tours to various places and the prices are reasonable. The hotel staff as a whole is courteous, polite and very efficient in their respective areas of work.
We had a very nice holiday and comfortable stay in Leh for 10 days. We intend to go back as soon as possible.

The Grand Dragon Leh- probably the finest five star property in this region and was a dream for us to experience their hospitality at least once in life time.. we booked a eight days Ladakh package with them from Leh to Leh, four nights in Grand Dragon, two nights in Stone Hedge Nubra Valley and one night at Pangong House with all meals and transportation with Innova Crysta. The entire process was just flawless and hassle free. Mr. Abdul Majeed was our relationship manager who organised the trip in such a well coordinated way, that we remained mesmerised with the beauty of this pristine land. He upgraded our room to suit rooms which were very spacious, with all modern facilities, 24x7 hot water, temp controlled rooms. The rooms were so well designed with Ladakhi art and crafts and with a mesmerising 360 degree views of Stock mountain range , that it can win anyone’s heart in a flash of moment. Taking breakfast in the dining area with snowy mountain ranges in the backdrop was itself an experience. The property also has a souvenir shop with very good collections of Pashmina, Ladakhi stone jewellery, handicrafts etc. The lawn and lounge areas are very well maintained. They have apple and apricot trees in their own garden and we were lucky to see them fully loaded with apples. The food spreads were also very vast and delicious. All the staffs were very courteous and helpful to fulfil all of our requirements. Their guidance helped a lot to acclimatise and to avoid acute mountain sickness. Overall it was a royal and grand experience with Grand Dragon Leh and it should be experienced by any premium traveler at lest once in a lifetime.

Excellent hospitality, and close to airport and Leh market. Booked a 7 night and 8 day tour of ladakh through Grand Dragon. They took care of every small thing including flask for hot water, oxygen cylinder (in case needed), transport in an Innova that is in excellent condition and the driver is very knowledgeable of routes and did safe driving, packed lunches for on way, coordination with hotels at other locations,.. Literally, took care of all aspects. They have excellent food. Lunch is a la carte but breakfast and dinners are elaborate spreads. Rooms are well furnished and has all amenities needed. They have view of either snow clad peaks or brown mountains. Beds and pillows are very comfortable, have inverter a/c so may cool or heat rooms, wifi worked well, tv has Airtel. This place is best for its staff who are ever attentive from reception to restaurant to concierge. Overall excellent place to stay.

This hotel goes above and beyond and are specialists in dealing with clients who are new to altitude and going trekking. All meals included - the restaurant staff and food was wonderful. Special thanks to Sunil who took very good care of me!

The room is so comfortable, and small extras like home made cookies and a fruit platter on arrival made the acclimatisation so much easier.
They have also thought of everything and provide so many amenities in the bathroom in case you forget anything.

It's well located for you to visit the local markets or just walk around. The artwork and decor within the hotel is magnificent and I especially loved the cats that visited the balcony - making it feel like home!

Highly recommend a stay here and hope to be able to come back in the future.

The Grand Dragon Ladakh is the place to be in peak winter. The entire hotel has central heating, not to mention each room has individual heating provisions too, to adjust to your own temperature comfort. Add to that the hospitality of the staff and the delicious food to order means one can easily just spent a good relaxing few days just staying the hotel itself. But as a family of four we wanted to explore nearby regions like Magnetic Hill, Shanti Stupa, Khardung La pass, and the hotel obliged by providing us with well equipped taxi, oxygen cylinders for any provision (do request it separately), picnic basket and alkaline water for all of us! All I can say it was nothing short of amazing.

We stayed at the Grand Dragon Hotel for our first two nights in Leh. It’s a beautiful, quiet hotel with unique decor. Our room had a terrace with wonderful view of the mountains (although it was too cold in winter to stay out for too long!) Visitors typically need some time to get used to the altitude, and the Grand Dragon is very well-equipped with oxygen tanks. Our 9 year old was too active and felt ill, and the hotel staff were very prompt with providing oxygen to help him recover. There were many thoughtful amenities in the room, including sunscreen and lip balm for the fierce sun and dry air. We also enjoyed the restaurant which offered both Ladakhi, Indian and other international cuisine.

Grand Dragon is certainly the most luxurious & most well maintained hotel in Ladakh. If you have the money it is definately worth it. The staff is extremely professional & sweet. They even arranged medicines for me on the last day of my trip when I wasn't feeling well. Some names I would like to mention as a tribute to their amazing hospitality & the care they showed me : First & foremost Nitin Thapa - front office executive. Ms.Chorol Guest relations executive, Mr.Gagan senior guest associate at the restaurant who makes sure you get what you want & never feel away from home.
