Although we planned to stay at the Cottage Nigeen for 2/3 days, our plans cut short due to the lockdown in Srinigar. The host was really helpful through the lockdown and helping us with travel tips and suggesting alternative itineraries to make most of our time in Kashmir. All Covid protocols were followed with plenty of sanitizers available throughout.

The property is an amazing house with a pleasant garden to walk and relax at. The location is close to Nigeen lake and there are some nearby eateries at walking distance. The rooms were clean tidy and the view from every room is great (You can select between Orchid view and Garden view). There is breakfast / dinner available on request.

If you are looking for a warm and friendly host, a comfortable homestay in a good - well connected locality in Srinagar - the Cottage Nigeen is the perfect choice.

I have returned from Srinagar today and I must say Cottage Nigeen is an excellent place to stay with so much to cherish in terms of natural beauty. Its located away from the city traffic and is very well maintained. The owners of the property are not only good hosts but excellent human beings as well. In today's scenario of covid pandemic, they are making sure that the guests get sanitised rooms and even in contactless service they cater to every need of thier guests.

Was looking to stay for more nights, but due to rooms full on most of the my dates, I could stay just for 1 night at The Cottage Nigeen. i.e. 7-8 Apr 22. My stay was with my family, including my child.

Location: It's a peaceful location, at just a stone throw away distance from Nigeen lake. Though, the end roads to property is really narrow, being just a single lane.

Property: It's a classy property, where the host Shakila ji had tried to put her heart in every single corner of the home and that is clearly visible.

Every single corner of this beautiful house is well carpeted, however, thanks to the maintenance they would be taking, it was not smelling like usually it does even in some best of the hotels.

In the drawing room, she has a very good collection of books which will fascinate equally beginners to avid readers.

Room: My room was Executive room. It was very warm and cozy and sufficient for three of us.

Garden: The garden hosts many of the colorful trees/plants such as Judas -tree, etc.

Meals: We checked in around 1 PM and on our request, they prepared lunch for us. The Yakhni Paneer and Dal was awesome. At dinner, we had Palak Paneer, that was Ok types but Sevaiya was excellent and a must try. At breakfast, had Bread toast, Poha & Omelette Pizza. While, the poha could be prepared with lesser oil, the tea was really nice. The meals portion was adequate for three of us, and was priced very reasonably.

Staff: Staffs, Tahira and Altaf are very warm to the guests and will make your
stay comfortable.

They are expanding the currently available options and adding couple of rooms more. Thus, some furniture items was being made on top floor, that caused some noise during the day. Considering that this is just a temporary disturbance of 4-5 days and will resolve once new rooms are completed, I will ignore this and will highly recommend this place to stay, in case you prefer to stay at calm, cozy, homely place.

Once again, thanks for such a warm stay.

This was my first visit to Kashmir, and I could not have wished for a better welcome than what I received at The Cottage Nigeen during my one week stay. The cottage itself was tastefully done up, with a beautiful garden surrounding it, and was located in a quiet area of the posh Hazratbal area, a few minutes walk from Nigeen Lake. The warmth and genuine care of the owners and staff was beyond my expectation. They took care to make me feel as if it was my own home and prepared delicious home-cooked breakfast and dinner to my liking. My room on the loft had a beautiful view of the garden, Nigeen Lake and the mountains, and was centrally heated and very comfortable, with an en-suite bathroom with all modern fittings. If I visit Kashmir again, I will stay at The Cottage Nigeen and no where else. During check out, I could not transfer the balance of my room rent to the owner’s account, as my phone Sim was not working. The owners were so kind and trusting that they asked me to do the transfer after I reached home. This was hospitality if a superlative kind.
I will always have very fond memories of my stay at The Cottage Nigeen.

Shakila auntie was a wonderful host and the staff was very helpful polite and sweet. Tahira was one of the sweetest staff who cooked wonderful meals for my daughter and us. And was very sweet.

The property was very clean, gave homely feel, with a pleasant garden, gazebo and the back yard had apple, pear trees with vegetable garden.

Food was very reasonable and she served her homemade pickles and apple jam with it.

It was the small things that matter like they had turned the geyser on before we arrived, so we'd have hot water right away. And shakila auntie would be right in the kitchen making sure all the food was prepared up to the mark. She is a superhost and very beautiful lady.

Cottage Nigeen is a beautiful home, the interiors give you a very warm feeling even housing a library. Shakila ji, her husband and her entire staff make sure that you feel at home. We personally liked her recommendations whether it was a cafe recommendation or any places to visit. She goes out of her way to curate the best experience for you in Srinagar depending on the time you have at her place. You are in for delicious lip smacking food by Tahira and comfortable services by Mukul once you step your foot in Cottage Nigeen. We highly recommend being in this cottage if you visit Sringara. They are lovely hosts, really humble and beautiful souls!

We stayed at The Cottage Nigeen in late March. If you are in search of peace, tranquility and want to experience a royal homestay feel in kashmir , this place would be highly recommended.

Book the garden view rooms at higher elevation which will also give you a peek at the nageen lake.

A common living area and dining room lined with vintage Kashmiri decor greets you Each decor item has a story to tell. The staff is punctual and on their toes to take care of your needs. The owners (Mrs Shakila and her husband ) are the perfect hosts to create sweet memories for your kashmir stay.

The experience was amazing staying in Cottage Nigeen. The owner and staff were very helpful in every aspect. The home cooked food was really awesome specially (Chicken curry and Masala Paneer) and it's like treat to have here. We stayed here for 3 nights. It's a lovely, comfortable homestay with all the comforts and reasonable services. You can enjoy your evening in the garden which is managed beautifully.
Regarding Location in my opinion is quite ok if you wish to avoid touristy hustle. But actually it really far away from Dal Lake, Residency road, Polo View, Shankra Charya Temple. At night when you want to be back to your cottage, the auto walas will charge you 500 INR for one side which is really huge amount despite of the fact that they should charge approx 200 INR. For auto/Taxi you need to walk at least for 1-2 km walk from the cottage to get the auto/Taxi or else you can book the same in advance to avoid walk.
Rest awesome experience within the cottage.

A manicured lawn lined by flowering trees in front. A kitchen garden, apple and pear trees at the back. And a picture postcard house. Inside, spacious, well-appointed rooms tastefully furnished. Excellent Kashmiri and other dishes selected and cooked with lots of care by Tahira and her team. Topping it all are Shakila and Riyaz, fine examples of Kashmiri nobility. You cant really ask for more for a quiet, comfortable holiday in Srinagar. During these Covid-cursed times, the staff's contactless service showed how they cared about the guests' health concerns. Three minutes' walk and you are at the Nigeen Lake for a marvellous view of the sunset. It's far away from the touristy bustle around Dal Lake. Would love to stay there every time we are in Srinagar.

The cottage Nigeen is a very cosy cottage tugged away in a posh residential area around the Nigeen lake. It has a lovely lush green garden with the majestic Chinar trees.
Loved the vintage decor inside the cottage. The interiors is very tastefully done. I especially loved the tea room.
We stayed in a standard room and later moved into the loft but we found both rooms very comfortable and cosy for two persons. The rooms were very neat and clean. Loved the view from the loft.
We enjoyed chatting with the hosts, they were very helpful and gave us several suggestions and tips for our travels in Kashmir. Loved the Apple pickle, which was recommended by Aunty Shakila.
We enjoyed every moment we spent here. I would highly recommend "The Cottage Nigeen" to anyone planning to visit Srinagar.
