I fell in love with the place the moment I walked in. The old-world charm mansion, sitting on the banks of the majestic Nigeen lake with beautifully manicured lawns lake looked nothing short of paradise. Although my friends & I we spent two lovely days here, there’s a lot of scope to provide a better experience. The construction being old needs to be looked into - the fittings in the washrooms either leaked, or the drain clogged & one of them had a bad stink which never went away. The toiletries like soap & shampoo were never replenished. We had exactly one bottle of body wash & shampoo between the three of us in a room. There were not adequate towels kept handy. Only one bottle of water per day per person is not sufficient. Good hotels don’t have such inadequate rationing. One of our rooms was sun-facing and would get very warm. The generator would work only during a certain period during the scheduled power cut. At times, one had to remind the facilities to replenish the fuel in the genset as they were oblivious to the fact that it had not been working for more than 15 min. The mattresses seem to be very old and sink in the middle. Definitely not good for one’s back. Need to be changed immediately. Overall, I would say it was a pleasant stay but the value for money didn’t really come though.…
Our trip to Kashmir was quite enjoyable mainly due to the amazing stay and experience at Dar-Es-Salam. This property is all about location, location and location. It’s bang on Nigeen Lake, with an amazing view. The property is very well maintained and has a beautiful garden overseeing the lake. The inside of the property is also very aesthetically done with a lot of heritage artifacts. And makes the stay very royal and cozy at the same time. The food and the buffet spread is standard and not lavish like a 5 star, which is ok by us as the food was quite good and hygienic restaurant at our service. Staff is very courteous and very accommodating. They are always checking on your stay and trying to please the customers to ensure that their stay is comfortable. Compared to other hotels. This one was value for money. Do not expect amenities like pool, games room etc like a 5 star. Few things they can improve upon - 1. We were made to change 3 rooms in 4 days. I understand that they were completely booked and hence this was done. The staff ensured that the transfer was hassle free. But it would be great if this can be avoided. 2. Showers in the rooms of our 1st 2 days were not great and the rooms were also small. However the rooms inside the main property are great with large sized rooms and bathrooms. I would gladly recommend this hotel for family stay as it’s worth every penny you spend!…
An old fashioned vintage property with scenic location situated on the quiet river Nigeen bank. All the people are incredibly helpful and generous with their time and advice. A beautiful place to relax and makes us feel -at -home. I had a great experience during my stay there. The rooms are very classy with all the facilities to fulfil our needs. The food served here is delicious. Would surely visit again. Will recomend this peace of heaven in srinagar to everyone!!:) My heart is there ️at this floating island<3
We had a very smooth booking experience with Dar es Salam during which they guided us to plan our entire Kashmir trip well, a highly appreciated feat. The hotel is very cosy and quaint. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The entire hotel including our room was warm, only the attached bathroom didn’t have a heater which made it slightly discomforting in there. Room service was quite prompt. Quality of food was very good and light on the stomach. The only turn off was the breakfast timing which started at 8:30am, considering many will want to start early for sightseeing this timing doesn’t work at all. Otherwise it was a great experience staying at Dar es Salam.
It is a quaint little place to stay and has an old-world charm. The food is average and there is hardly any variety. There is not much to do in the hotel itself except to walk around on the lawns overlooking the lake. There were also frequent power cuts when we were there (Diwali holidays). While it is good for a one-time stay, please choose another property if you would like a more business-friendly hotel. For example, there was not even a desk to work on your laptop.
Dar-Es-Salam is located in the less touristy side of the city on the backwaters of the Nagin Lake. This Art-Deco property is an absolute jewel and is immaculately maintained by the owner and the staff. We spent 4 days/3 nights at this place and were taken good care of by the warm and gentle Mr. Abdul. He suggested us with several ideas and suggestions in order to make our trip more fulfilling. For travelers seeking a quieter experience in the city, Hotel Dar-Es-Salam is a good place to stay. If there are two areas that we feel the hotel can well upgrade itself, it would be to add more Kashmir focused books in its collection considering the city has got such a rich literature culture. And secondly, we felt quite let down by the quality of the food served during breakfast. Considering there are not many options around for dinning, it would be good if the management looks into these areas & upgrade the quality of its food offerings.…
It’s a beautiful property , exuding old world charm not only in furniture but also in the beautiful crockery they use .. the rooms are comfortable .. the location bang on Nigeen lake ( u can take the shikara right from the hotel lawns ) is awesome .. the buffet dinner excellent .. breakfast spread was average ..the staff is polite . However the place does not give a vibrant , happening vibe .. it gives a calm mature vibe 😀.. somehow I can’t picture a group of young boisterous kids playing around here without inviting some raised eyebrows 😁..so if that suits you u will enjoy your stay at this property ..
We stayed at the Dar Es Salam property after reading all the reviews. The view is unbeatable by the gorgeous Nigeen lake and they have a beautiful garden with the most delightful flowers. The negatives though are the poor service and for this I blame the owners / management. They have a group of 4-5 staffers servicing the whole property from early morning till late at night. No wonder the wait staff is so rude. Breakfast timing we were told is from 7.30-10.30 however at 8.45 there was no sign of breakfast. We had to leave at 9 am for another trip. Reason for this delay was that the staff was working late for a party the night before for another group. How do you run a hotel like this ? The second issue we had was our shower flooded. They sent someone to fix it but he couldn’t. After some haggling we were able to negotiate a switch up to a room. And lastly it’s adjacent to a main road so expect to hear traffic sounds all day.…
We 8 golfers stayed here very recently. The worst experience ever. The staff was very rude, unhelpful, arrogant and full of attitude. You can’t get own food at the property. Rooms are stuffy and have no exhaust.
This boutique 14 room hotel is in the heart of the city at the Nagin lake. The hospitality, warmth, beauty of this hotel is something else. You really dont feel like ur on this planet. Food was AMAZING. my husband was slamming on their meat and this roti called "Sheermal" is a must have. It feels like home cause they have these beautifl cosy common rooms on the first floor that use to be our hang out place at the hotel in the evenings and the morning we use to order our kahwa and walnut cookies and sit by the lake on the lawn. The lake is full of lotus flowers its just GORGEOUS i can go on and on and on. BEST stay of my trip.
