The best place to stay in Srinagar. Away from the touristy areas around the dal, nestled away on the negin lake. You wake up to the most beautiful views and the service excellent. Feels like a sanctuary.

Undoubtedly the best boutique hotel in Srinagar. The beautiful large garden with the views of the Nagina lake is an ideal spot to spend the afternoon. The architecture of the hotel has an old world charm which is a rarity these days. There is very nice lounge on the first floor where one can enjoy a drink or read a book in the evening The rooms are fairly new. The staff is very friendly and they go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. The hotel has delicious Kashmiri food. I stayed in the lake facing room which has beautiful views of the lake and the fort across. I would highly recommend this gem to everyone visiting Srinagar!

Dar Es Salaam gave us a beautiful experience of Srinagar by the Negeen Lake. Their location is ideal, the hotel feels very exclusive because of its location. The service of the staff and the food is excellent. Would love to return there again.

This is one of the worst properties in Srinagar. The rooms are expensive without any reason, the bathrooms are worse than an Oyo. There is no hot water whatsoever that comes in the bathroom, keep the tap on for 10 minutes and still no hot water. How is a person supposed to survive in minus temperature. They don't allow you to heat your food and there is no room service after 10 PM, so basically this is a hostel in other words. The breakfast was below average, they served cold. They do not provide mineral water, it is charged. The housekeeping refused to clean the room after 1PM. And for me I am a regular to Srinagar however I am never coming back here again. The staff is unwelcoming and very rude, it is insulting to have a conversation with them.

Response from Khurram Hussain, General Manager at Hotel Dar-Es-Salam
Responded 1 Jan 2023
The Review Has been written by our esteemed guest that stayed as a group of 4 bedrooms with us a few days ago. We are sorry to say that the guest has painted a grim picture of the Hotel out of Malice and not actual facts. We would like to reiterate that we have a boiler system for Hot water. In case you are the first room in the morning to open the tap at the hotel you might experience a slight delay of about 3-4 minutes , which is also mentioned through a little placard on every bathroom wall. After that there is non stop Hot Water available through the day and you can take as long a shower as you would like to !!! 1. Their group of 4 bedrooms were inconsiderate to every other guest. They were up till 3 -4 am every morning and while why should we as a hotel have a problem in our guests enjoying themselves, we dont appreciate LOUD MUSIC and Shouting and Screaming and a complete disregard for other guests who just kept complaining about them and rightly so. We had a family who had taken another 3 rooms next to the above guest who called us up at 3 am in the morning to complain to say that they cant sleep with all the noise and commotion. My Manager had to go 5 or 6 times in the middle of the night to this group and requested them to control their noise levels. It got to a level that we offered this guest and their group of 4 bedrooms making all this commotion every night , the option to leave on their last night and just so that our other guests dont get disturbed further, offered them a refund for that last night . We I am sorry to say have never experienced such guests at our over 4 decades of being in the hospitality industry. 2. The Hotel gives 1 Litre of Complimentary Bottled Water per day with every room and anything above ordered is chargeable. This as you may well imagine is standard practice at many hotels. They expected all the Mineral water Bottles being ordered with their drinks by them in the evening to be made complimentary. When the same was clarified, they were down right rude with the staff and dismissive of any hotel policies. 3. The 3 rooms that stayed with us had luckily stayed with us for 3 more nights prior to this group's arrival and one of the gentlemen who was the owner of a well renowned Hospitality group of the country, expressed and his words were " Mr Hussain, I understand that you cannot screen people before you accept bookings and its not your fault. These guests had no regard towards us. We would like to reiterate that we have loved our stay barring the disturbance last night. You have a jewel and we look forward to visiting you again". 4. On the 2nd night , this group demanded that they be allowed to carry their alcohol bottles into the garden, to which we reiterated that we dont have a bar license nor do we serve alcohol. We requested that they may consume it in the lounge they had booked as per the excise laws of the country. There was an argument again and the owner was called to complain that we are not a flexible hotel and that we impose too many restrictions on our guests!!! The last straw was when they got food from outside and even though the hotel does not allow food from outside inside the hotel premises, we agreed that as a one time special gesture we would allow it this one time in our effort to not create an unpleasant scene with them. But then they insisted that, they would like this food to be heated by 1-1.30 am at night as they would be drinking before that and if we cannot do that , we should plug in Microwaves in their rooms . 5. The Housekeeping never refused to clean the room post 1 pm as we have been in this trade for decades and understand hospitality well. The gentleman is not mentioning that they keys were taken by the guest themselves and if that is done since we have a lock and key system the receptions needs to open it with a masterkey, for which instructions need to be left by the guest at the reception. We have clearly seen that with these clients our hotel was something that did not match their expectations as they in our opinion wanted a private night club which were were not able to provide to them. We would like to reiterate for the benefit of other clients that we are a Heritage Property and we promote a homelike feel with all modern amenities in place. We are welcoming to all our clients and our accolades and reviews over the last few decades are proof of our commitment to provide an enriching experience and comfort for our clients. We are conscious of the overall holiday motivations of our clients and it is our endeavor to ensure we satisfy these motivations to the best of our abilities. We are delighted to Wish everyone a Very Happy New Year.

Stayed here first time over a decade ago. Since then been there many times, and have recommended this hotel to many friends and family. A boutique hotel, with just 14 rooms, right on the Nagin Lake, sprawling lawns, great food, amazing service. They even arranged a camp fire for us in the lawns. Far from the maddening crowd, this place is highly recommended

The location of the property is its biggest plus. The shikara ride from the hotel itself was quite beautiful. its garden is nice and well maintained. The food really need to improve both in variety and quality. On top of that we had to go for the fixed menu as they did not allow us to order a la carte. We were a group of 6 with elderly parents so was not possible to take them out again in the night and we ended up paying quite a bit for the food.

We stayed at the property for 2 nights recently. The property is no doubt very good. Good rooms and location, great food. But the staff's attitude really put us off majorly. You cannot call for food from outside. You have to eat whatever they have for dinner whether you like it or not.And they give only 1 Litre of Mineral water per room per day. If you ask for more, they charge you steeply for that.It was like we were staying in a school hostel. They were rude and non co-operative. They would lock the Hotel at 10 PM. Entire staff would leave the hotel by 10:45 PM. There was no one to attend to us after that. I would never go back to this property.

It is a beautiful property on banks of Nigeen lake. You can hail your shikara from their tiny dock and it is such an awesome vibe. The decor of the property is BEAUTIFUL the ceiling the artefacts the decor, every thing is amazing. The food is really lovely, though not too much of a variety in breakfast buffet. I definitely recommend staying here . if your bedding is too soft and you wish it to change, just request the house keeping to remove the comforter from the mattress.
