Stayed here for one night and it was a comfortable stay. The services were good and friendly. The food was average. We enjoyed shikara ride on the lake. This place is good for one night stay, as their is nothing much to do around this place.
Nice, cleaned, very well maintained relatively new house boat with excellent staying experience, superb views of uncluttered, clean Nigeen Lake with snow capped mountains on the backdrop. Excellent and royal 👑 hospitality by the staffs Cons ; poor accessibility and shikara is being the only mode of transport Verdict: Must stay atleast one night
Our stay was memorable at the prestige hb not only due to the quiet and Serene location but also due to the fact that the staff were so cordial and promt. The food was served hot and exciting.. The view from the verandah was exhilarating..
Booked on Prestige Houseboat using an online portal based on the reviews, but upon reaching, like someone else mentioned, realized that there is no Prestige Houseboat... Looks like the management market the houseboats under different names on travel portals.. However, that was not an issue. The shikaras were ready at Ghat # 1 when we came from the airport and we were promptly taken to the houseboat which was well maintained and looked better than the average boat in the lake... Nigeen lake is definitely far better to stay than Dal Lake as we realized during the Shikara ride, as Dal Lake is very very commercialized and crowded. Views of the lake and the hills from the lobby / porch were great. Adnan and Gulzar, the houseboat attendant were very warm and helpful. Food cooked by Gulzar was extremely tasty and upon request, he served us local Kashmiri dishes. Adnan also arranged for a Shikara ride (crossings to Ghat 1 were complimentary and available at short notice). Gulzar went out of his way to ensure we had hot water for an early morning departure to Kargil. Happy experience overall and definitely would recommend.…
I made my booking for this place on makemytrip mostly by following its reviews, though I was also suggested by another Srinagar hotel owner. There are few things that one must note for facts: (1) There is actually nothing called "Prestige Houseboats". We were taken to a houseboat called "Rover Houseboat" at which a guy called Adnan represented "Prestige Houseboats". (2) The staff of the houseboat welcomed decently by offering a local made-special cake (like a plum cake) and kashmiri kawa; but in a quieter moment suggested that we should have booked "Rover Houseboats" directly through the owner of that houseboat--which was when we recognized that there is nothing called "Prestige Houseboats", apart from some kind of a possible arrangement between a tourist-assisting agency and the owners of houseboats for ensuring higher occupancy. (3) When you make the booking, the booking would tempt you with an offer of "Unlimited Shikara Crossing" which means that you will be taken from Ghat 1 to the houseboat and back to Ghat 1 to board your car. And it usually happens once! Because once you step into the houseboat, either you have to go out for a shikara ride or just take the back door and get onto the road and into the market. If you ask for a "Ride", then the staff would remind you that the offer was of "Crossing" only--by which time you might figure that means nothing. (4) The food is very tasty. But another couple that stayed along with us had a nasty experience because the remains of what someone had in the dinner were part of what was served to them for their breakfast. At least on that day, we were lucky to have had a decent serving. (5) If you are planning to give tips, make sure you have the right change to settle bills first, because otherwise you might face what I faced--the staff simply not returning the change saying that they will keep it for their tip. The issue here is not that money is taken by them, but that we did not have a chance to give it properly like a happy "tip". (6) We figured through conversations with co-travellers and tourists coming in and leaving Srinagar that there were other places which charged slightly lesser and served much better. If you are going with kids, you might want to keep this in mind, because a family that stayed with us could not get Bournvita for their little daughter. For us, the stay at Houseboat was easily substitutable by a stay at any other hotel with a decent and even partial lake view.…
We stayed for 2 nights experienced very unprofessional behaviours from the houseboat people. It was not a pleasant experience because 1. Unprofessionalism 2. All the wastes are being dumped into the same lake , like every other house boats , which is against the law. 3. Because of this the lake is full of weed and not a pleasant view for people who care about the environment. 4. These people only wants money and the servents are mingled with the local vendors who will disturb you constantly and they will take advantage of every situation possible. These guys have arranged a Taxy for 800 rps for 4 km after having a rough talk it came down to 400 !!! We suggest to consider home stays which is a better option and people are very friendly and not money minded. To experience the house boats we recommend Kerala boats , which actually runs on water!!…
This is an excellent houseboat! We only spent a full day and one night but it was worth it! From the moment we were greeted by shikara wala to take us across to the houseboats, we knew we were in for a treat!. Very nice houseboat. Great masseuse! Good clean bedroom, comfortable beds and good food. Pleasant staff. No complaints and would definitely revisit.
Its an excellent houseboats located on a great location on Nigeen lake...The staff is friendly and helpful. The food served was tasty. we enjoyed our stay and the room where comfortable. The bathroom where small but clean.
The Prestige Houseboats are luxury heritage Kashmir houseboats which give a real feel of kahsmir. As its tradition, we were welcomed with kashmiri Kawa as a welcome drink. We were given a briefing about the history of houseboats and tradition of Kashmir. They were keen to take care of each and every need of ours. The boat was fully equipped for various leisure activities. It is indeed an experience you can’t describe in words but to experience it. We had a good night sleep and got up late with the butler greeting us with a tea. The food was excellent. I’d surely visit again….
Anyone going to srinagar must stay in pristege houseboats ....because of the following excellence reasons : 1. Location Location of the houseboat is perfect, right at the centre of the lake, giving a perfect view of the lake and nearby landscapes. 2. Rooms Room categories are value for money as the view from any/every room is amazing. 3. Service Almost all the services are prompt, definitely I did not feels unattended. 4. Food My good.....food is something to die for, all the dishes are cooked with an intent that people should enjoy it. The restaurant is spacious and live musing during the dinner time add on the mood. 5. Hospitality Hospitality is something that owners of the houseboat are very cautious about, they look after you well.....make sure that you have a good time......interact with you on daily basis to address the issues if any. In short going to Srinagar and not staying in Pristege Houseboats would keep your trip incomplete.…
