All the negative reviews on this page are accurate and true... definitely do not stay here. The travel agent in New Delhi, Connaught Square, will scam you into booking into this guesthouse for an extended period of time an a very expensive price. The travel agent (Ali) is the son of the guesthouse host and they have this ongoing scheme to scam travelers. (But they lie and pretend they don't have any connection) I paid for a transfer from Srinagar bus station to the guesthouse but this never happened... I had to take a taxi, but was given a bad address so it took forever to arrive. Upon arrival, the host had no idea who i was and was not expecting any guests... so there is no communication between travel agency and host. No wifi, no heater in my room (during winter), isolated location, not close to any restaurants or sights. Really crappy showers, mine did not work so I had to use the staff facilities I was the only one here and it was very boring Host is a pervert and brags about sleeping with female guests. (When his wife is in the house) Every time he would talk to me he was trying to up sell me on a multi-day trek into the mountains. This got really irritating as I told him I wasn't interested. Very persistent and annoying, made the stay very uncomfortable. When I asked if it was possible to do day hikes in the area, he said no. But I went out by myself and found multiple hiking trails which were good. Dont stay here... bad location, bad host, very boring. I had an amazing time in India but this was my worst experience…
When we arrived with help from a traveling company in Delhi (which we didn't really trust) the owner / son told us that he didn't almost didn't knew them and didn't know the man who were our contact person except for the fact that he gave him clients sometimes. Later we found out that he actually worked himself in the company in Delhi, and were related to the guy who was our guide. So basically he had lied to our face the entire time we were there. That felt really weird and unsettling. The package solutions that they sell is very expensive and they try to make more sales all the time. Also the dad commented on our looks (we travelled two girls together) and kept telling us that he did not like his wife and that he could have gotten a western wife instead. That felt a bit weird too. But the house is nice and clean. So if you don't mind being lied to I guess it is okay. The trips out of the house were really nice and we enjoyed them a lot and the mountain guides were very kind.…
This place is great, and the personal is even greater. We got there in a group of 6 people and stayed for 5-6 days. Everything was perfect, each day they gave us wonderful diners, and taking care of us for any thing that we wanted. Highly recommended to have some of the greats teas that they prepare
-Constantly trying to rip us off in a serious way -Constantly trying to make us go on unwanted trips and scare us from doing things with out him to make us spend money with him -Inappropriate sexual remarks with his wife being the one cooking our meals -Made awful and disgraceful remarks about his wife -Works with the Backpackers company in Delhi which robbed us -Food was good once otherwise for what we paid hardly got much at all -I was given a waiting list ticket by the backpacker company which he knew and connivence me it was fine and got I got driven to Jummu alone with no connecting train and hardly anyone -Really ruined our stay please do not support this. There are lots of lovely and trusting people to go with I was defiantly ignorant in many ways but he was also a manipulator. STAY AWAT PLEASE!!!…
Very friendly family, fantastic hosts. The food was clean, safe home cooking, very tasty and amongst the best we had in India. Faisal will take you camping and trekking for anywhere between one night and a week, as you wish. This was the highlight of our stay. All the equipment is provided for a fee, even walking boots if they have your size. Visit Dal Lake and the local gardens, all organised by your host. Kashmir carpet shops available to visit. Would be a great start/end point for any journey in India and is the complete opposite of Delhi - relaxing, amazing scenery.
