Each houseboat has 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms and has a carpeted sitting room and dining room. Bedrooms have western bathrooms attached. Cushioned veranda looks out over lake. Choice of authentic Kashmiri, Indian or Western meals are served by the houseboy in the dining room. Pack lunches available. The hospitality and the courtesy defined the finest tradition of Kashmir and it's people. Manzoor, the caretaker made sure that we were comfortable and served a very tasty and sumptuous dinner. As we had to leave early, the following morning, he woke up early so that we could have breakfast. The houseboat was comfortable but it does need renovation and a fresh coat of paint. These material aspects aside, it was a memorable stay at Nigeen Lake with clean waters and quiet environment to appreciate the majestic beauty of nature.

Very nice place. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Nageen lake is more quiet than Dal lake and peacock houseboats are very well maintened. Don't hesitate to contact the staff to find the way... An opposite way gives access to the place via a boat. Definitively the place to stay in Srinagar.

Unlike other boathouses, this one is parallel to the lake, meaning that you have amazing views of the lake from each room, dining room and living room, and not just from the veranda. It's on Nigeem lake, the smaller of the two lakes in Srinagar (the other one is Dal lake) and it is very quiet. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a good private bathroom. You can order breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea on the boat, the food is very good! Whatever you need, the staff can arrange it for you or help you: getting a shikara or a taxi, when we needed a pharmacy they gave us a lift by motorcycle. It was a pleasure to meet Manzur who made sure we were fed and Javeed who furnished us with pashminas and gave us more than one lift :)

Its indeed a difficult task to give a comparative rating between the divinity of the place and the magnanimity of the people in charge of ours in this boat. Dal Lake is nothing new to tourists but peacock houseboat at nigeen lake is unparallel. Most remarkable is their hospitality, cuisine, location and commitment. Just Excellent.

We stayed on Peacock houseboat on Nigeen lake.Very good property and nice food.The caretaker Mansoor was very helpful and kept the property nice and clean. Nice view from the boat and our first experience of houseboat was excellent and memorable. Will definitely recommend peacock houseboat property.

Worst experience of House boat, bad property. Un washed bedsheets, blankets, Dustfull. no mosquito repellent. No normal water available, only paid water. Though informed the concerns and cook too that we are pure vegetarian however in food we found Bones. They served nonveg to a veg person. Which means how they treat us. However they have no regret.
