Very comfortable stay. Mr. Farookh took good care to see that we were comfortable. Dinner and breakfast was hygienic, tasty and simple as home cooked one. Good view and peaceful stay....not noisy at all. Would love to visit again. Enjoyed the shopping at the houseboat.

This is my second solo trip to Kashmir within three months and I have always rooted in Peacock Houseboat in both the occassions. And I will always stay here whenever I am in Srinagar. Yaqoob, the owner of this houseboat is a gem of a person. He has such extensive knowledge of Kashmir and has been helping me in arranging my photo tours all around the region. He is such a nice and helping person.
His assistance and arrangements for the trips are really helpful and praiseworthy. Moreover the houseboat is at a perfect location in Nigeen lake which offers a peaceful and beautiful experience of staying in a houseboat. The caretakers of the boats (Manzoor bhaai and Tanveer) are the most caring people I have encountered. The food is amazing and the houseboat actually offers homely feeling with nice homely food and atmosphere.
I wholeheartedly recommend Peacock hoseboats for people who want to experience a stay which is excellent and noise free.

Stayed here for 1 night with family and deeply regret not staying here any longer. Nigeen Lake is clean, beautiful, and an easy choice to immerse into a serene experience alongside a home-like feeling. We stayed in a 2 Bedroom houseboat which is supersized, with a nice deck overlooking the lake, clean bedrooms and bathrooms.
Manzoor Bhai is a kind hearted person who did everything he could despite being unwell. We had asked for a non-veg dinner so he had prepared Chicken gravy, Dal, Rice & Veggies setup nicely in style at the Dinner table. This was by far the most memorable experience throughout our stay in Kashmir. He had also prepared a sumptuous breakfast the next day.
Thank you Manzoor Bhai for your kind hospitality and we hope to meet you again in the future. I strongly recommend staying at Peacock Houseboat for an experience like no other!

Unlike other boathouses, this one is parallel to the lake, meaning that you have amazing views of the lake from each room, dining room and living room, and not just from the veranda. It's on Nigeem lake, the smaller of the two lakes in Srinagar (the other one is Dal lake) and it is very quiet. Our room was spacious and comfortable, with a good private bathroom. You can order breakfast, lunch, dinner and tea on the boat, the food is very good! Whatever you need, the staff can arrange it for you or help you: getting a shikara or a taxi, when we needed a pharmacy they gave us a lift by motorcycle. It was a pleasure to meet Manzur who made sure we were fed and Javeed who furnished us with pashminas and gave us more than one lift :)

On my day of visit, I was never told Shikara was not available due to frozen lake and when called they casually said come via alternate route. This inspite of checking with them on whatsapp a day before. Again as the temperature was very cold have asked for a room heater and all that I got was a causal reply. Room AC will be turned on with preset 24 degree and that should be enough. There is no provision for us to increase temperature also. We were shivering literally as cold air was coming from the door gap and window side. Again next day morning no water as water got froze, not even to brush. When raised my voice I got a bucket of water. Pathetic stay and with no hesitation they were asking for a tip also and were not leaving till we gave them. Will never ever return to this place.

The hospitality and the courtesy defined the finest tradition of Kashmir and it's people. Manzoor, the caretaker made sure that we were comfortable and served a very tasty and sumptuous dinner. As we had to leave early, the following morning, he woke up early so that we could have breakfast. The houseboat was comfortable but it does need renovation and a fresh coat of paint. These material aspects aside, it was a memorable stay at Nigeen Lake with clean waters and quiet environment to appreciate the majestic beauty of nature.

I stayed in 2 of Peacocks’s houseboats on Nagin Lake in Srinagar with a family of 8 on 8th Feb 2022. They are very comfortable, clean and bedding/blankets were very soft & warm. Food was delicious (we took veg only). Caretaker Tanveer was really taking good care. We felt on this trip that all Kashmiris were generally very polite and honest. We recommend these houseboats to all!

I had a wonderful stay at peacock houseboats. The location of the houseboat is just amazing. You can just sit in the Terrance sip the tons of kehwa witness the mesmerising views of Nigeen lake and watch the life going by on the lake. The service by Mr.Tanveer was really great. He was ready to help even midnight. My old age parents have habit of having hot water during early morning. Although the electric kettle is banned in almost all the houseboats but Mr Tanveer made sure for my parents to deliver hot water during early morning time. One night is definitely not enough at this houseboat. They helped us with reasonable shikara ride rates. They organised tours for us in kashmir. The driver organised was really decent guy. The hotels they suggested were really nice. I hope to come to this place soon

I along with my family visited kashmir during January 2021. After doing some research I decided to stay on a houseboat and I hop on peacock houseboats. I contacted them and the response right from the contact point was very swift. I had actually booked for one night but I ended up staying 4 nights. Initially I was skeptical staying on a houseboat because of the cold. But as I entered the houseboat my fear of cold was allayed. The houseboat bedrooms have a proper diesel heaters which will run all the night to keep the room warm.
We were given a family houseboat (had to pay extra for that), it was worth it. My houseboat had 2 bedrooms with 02 extra beds to accommodate 6 of us. It had a separate dinning area and the seating area and the balcony. It was my first experience to see the iced lake.
I would highly recommend peacockhouseboats. They are hospitable and professional. After your trip you will end up having a family in Kashmir as well that’s the level of personal care you get. They will stay in touch with you till you reach home safely.

Hello, see if you are planning to buy only accomodation will be expensive, you must hire a local travel agency that will end up giving you best deal, try 'Duke Kashmir Travel' it is always recommended to get the package before planning for a Kashmir Trip, normally the one day stay charges would be in range of 2500 to 3000, since you are planning to go in April you may bet for a good deal, try to negotiate hard
Agree with Mohankumar. However , if you are insistent on going and staying in a houseboat it is best advised to speak to the houseboat person before hand and inform them of your requirements. Peacock was a good experience and am sure they will try their best to meet your request.
