Houseboat Meena Mahal had excelled in cleanliness. Housekeeping was very neat and tidy. Amneties included Bathtubs, Jaguar fitted taps, 24 hrs hot water running from the taps, free wifi, beautiful woodwork of cupboards and furniture. Beds were very cosy. The stay was for 5 nights and each moment was cherishable as there was a touch of homeliness and security. The staff ....houseboat manager, driver and Shikara people were very warm. The company directors were themselves available anytime (very humbly). More than the amneties the warmth of the hosts was very touchy. Recommendable for others who wish to make their stay in Paradise on earth very memorable.

We had confirmation of Deluxe category with Meena house boat stay on 14th April 2016, booked through SOTC. We had checked facilities put up in the Meena group. But to our surprise, we were put up on KHYBER, good one for its space and ambience but unsatisfactory facilities, poor service wuth single person caretaker, food cooked in nearby unhygienic place, bottled drinking water not given and then charged, linens and towels not upto standards expected. Breakfast is lousy and rather rediculous for the kind of money paid. Nuisance of small traders trying to sell goods both late evening and early morning. We had excellent tour coverage of our plans with SOTC Meena travels but the house boat allocated spoiled our last leg of our experience and felt bad on the shortcomings. There

The only good thing about this lodging is that it is situated on Dal Lake and it has amazing views of the snow capped mountains. Access to the houseboat is via a shikara- which is awesome- unless it's raining - like it was when we were leaving, n there aren't any umbrellas or much protection from the rain. At first glance, the houseboat looks much like the photos posted on this and other sites. Closer inspection shows old, tired, worn out and dusty accommodations. We were given the "maharani" suite - with a chaise as a third bed. The chaise had stains. The bathroom - shower cubicle with a "fancy" shower mechanism leaked, so that by the time you finished ur shower, the bathroom was wet. There's a dressing room with cupboards. The beds had heated blankets - huge plus in

This is a very cozy place at Dal Lake, Srinagar. It's a unique experience in India to stay in a houseboat with all the comfort and yet at the lake. The morning view of the mountains is amazing as it was the shikara ride!!

Spent a night in this House Boat on the Dal(Gate-13). Excellently decorated rooms and very friendly service. The house boat can be reached by shikara and while there a lot of sellers of handicrafts will visit with their wares(look for the paper mache items). The breakfast made by the elderly person on 24th December morning was simply delicious. The bathrooms were exquisitely designed and very clean - quite a pleasant surprise on a houseboat. The nights can really get chilly on the Dal - and the room became quite cold despite the heater and blankets.
