Beautifully constructed Gothic Castle property nestled in the Valley between the mountains. The food was amazing, the hospitality was splendid. Would recommend folks reading to stay here. It’s an experience. You’re in luck if you’re travelling in the months of August & September, they’ve got a beautiful apple orchard.

This hotel has a Gothic theme and is truly one of a kind, we felt like we were transported back in time and living out an old English movie. The view from our cottage was mind blowing. We were treated very well with all the staff members. They were very polite and made sure all our requirements are met. Took a lot of help to get around the city and discover some lesser known hiking trails. Highly recommend this property!

Post covid we took our much needed vacation for a week to our favourite destination in the mountains. Manali would not be the same if it weren't for The Himalayan. Like a good bottle of wine this slice of paradise keeps getting better. Mr. Vivek and his team are ever present and warm. Their food menu is diverse and scrumptious. For me the dishes which stood out were the Rosti and Wild Rice Risotto. They've also upgraded their cottages with more comfortable furniture in the area. We also spent a few nights in the castle rooms and found nothing to fault. It was our third visit to the property and assured we will be back again soon. Keep up the good work Team Himalayan!

Firstly i have been to the best of best hotels , and when they charged me approx 12k a night and most of the youtuber’s did a promotion here the property looked great , i checkout from la ri sa where i spent the first night and the second night in the himalyan , As soon as i arrived there was no one on the gate either to greet or to help you , i entered and i found one guy on the reception desk which was not fully trained so the GM Mr vikas i think he was doing all the formalities, though he was not having a single hint of smile through out , he was telling me the rules as if i have joined some military boot camp , the restaurant area is no less than a horror show nobody was there not even a single guest ! And i was told the hotel is 67% sold out , the rooms are horror show , if you like luxury you will not like this hotel , this hotel is max worth 3k a night not even a single grand more , you can imagine at the same time i stayed in la ri sa manali and oberoi cecil shimla , both the property pools and spa was functional currently 99.99% pools and spa in india are functional but they are in there own covid due to which these are not functional , the GM ‘s attitude felt as if he was the owner so I confirmed with the staff that who is he then i got to know that he is the gm , well in short staff is untrained, GM is have slight attitude issue , rooms are horror show. Property will not have WIFI so dont plan WFH “walls are too thick so wifi will not work “ this was informed when i checked in and after a while called for the wifi password the undertrained staff said ill give you a call back he never called back , i called again after 1 hr the manager took the call and told me wifi will work only near pool area not in room walls are thick , i felt i was in 1880 when there was no idea how the wifi will work , there are end number of options to increase wifi range , breakfast was stupid , indian lunch i did was hopeless , dinner was was indian starter was ok , When i checked out and then went to oberoi cecil shimla they charged me 5k more than this hotel and it was nexxtt level ! So either they decrease the prices to 3k the hotel for people spending 3k will have great experience as there mindset will not be that its a luxury hotel and its a kaam chalau hotel , so then they will feel good , i had a driver no services for him , no stay , no hot water for shower , no place to eat nothing !

Response from The Himalayan , General Manager at The Himalayan

Dear Mr. Rikshit Sadh, At the outset I would like to mention that we take great pride in maintaining high levels of professionalism & the general upkeep of our property. We work extremely hard to ensure that all our guests are well looked after & take back a positive experience. However, we are absolutely gobsmacked at your frivolous & phoney complaints with our property. It must be an immense relief to get that all that negativity off your chest. It appears that you are in the manufacturing business, we would not be in a rush to tell you how to price your products. To answer your grievances point wise: 1) It is lovely to know of your numerous stays at "best of best hotels". You must be so very proud of your innumerable sojourns at the glitziest of hotels. 2) All our guests are greeted with warmth & gratitude for patronising our fine establishment. In this case our regrets that no special red carpet was laid out at your arrival. 3) We have a total inventory of 24 rooms, hence the reception is manned 24x7 by either 2 or 4 persons depending upon how busy the hotel is. Mr. Vivek is extremely polite, hospitable, professional carrying a positive attitude. The scores of reviews posted here are a testament to that. 4) As far as the "restaurant" being a "horror show", we are at a loss to guess what you are trying to convey. If you think that entire walls covered with the most desirable teakwood panels & the immensely detailed coffered ceiling, along-with stunning artwork are a "horror" your aesthetics seem suspect. Our apologies that their was "not even a single guest!" present as & when you went to our Refectory Dining Room. In future we will make it point to our other guests to not step out for seeing sights or not relax in our garden. They can stay in the Dining Room for your amusement. 5) We believe that your reservation was for our standard Classic Chamber, however at you insistence we gave you a complementary upgrade to a Grand Chamber as our hotel was not full. Naturally, why even pen down such an unimportant gesture/detail in your review. If you think that the rooms too are "horror show", we are not sure if you are talking about the same property. Our rooms are appointed with antique four-poster beds, antique armoires made from Burmese teak, leather Chesterfield sofas, Turkish kilims, complete with hardwood floors & en-suite marble baths. Our tea caddies are stocked with English teas, our toiletries are from an international brand stocked by top hotels around the world. The rooms are so well appointed & have such comforts that they will take too long to list here. 6) Now coming to the non-functioning of the spa & the swimming pool. In case you have not heard, let's bring to your attention that COVID-19 is still a reality. HP government has not issued any fresh guidelines regarding the protocols to be followed . In case property A or property B wants open them, that is their on prerogative. Below is the excerpt from the mail which was sent to you listing the facilities/regulations: Entry into the property will be subject to Government regulations prevalent at the time of check-in. Swimming Pool & Spa will not be available during the stay. During housekeeping, the room/cottage will have to be vacated. Utensils in the cottage will be cleaned during housekeeping once daily. Repeated requests for cleaning utensils will not be entertained. Dining, In-room dining & al-fresco Dining at the Pool Terrace (weather permitting) will be available from 7:30 AM to 10:30 PM. Complimentary Wi-Fi is available. However, owing to the remote location & limited service providers it can be erratic at times. Drivers’/Maids’ accommodation is not available on the premises. However, there are budget hotels nearby, where we can facilitate accommodation. You will also be required to deposit a 100% advance with the second party. Please be advised that these are independent accommodations & we are in no way affiliated with them. Guests will be required to follow & adhere to all Covid-19 safety & hygiene protocols laid down by the Government as well by the resort during the stay. This is for their safety & for the safety of others. These will not be limited to the following: Guests will be required to wear masks in public areas at all times. Guests will be required to maintain 2 Metres physical distance at all times. Guests will be required to wash hands frequently & to use a hand sanitiser. 7) Wifi is an issue in the mountains & we are working to resolve that. We are glad that you felt you were in "1880" & got to experience time travel during your 1 night stay with us. Had you stayed longer perhaps you could have ended up in stone age. 8) Again your description of the breakfast as "stupid" causes us some concerns. Was the breakfast not intelligent enough, not good at making polite conversation? 9) It was clearly mentioned in our email exchange that owe do not have any facilities for drivers/maids/helpers. You were privy to this information. It appears you have unresolved issues, which you must addressed immediately for your own good & for those who around you. Your vitriolic & bitter review is not worth the paper it was written on. Finally, may we suggest that you should invest in a dictionary of some sort. Oxford dictionary usually does the job, but standard spell checks are inbuilt in most modern electronic devices. Honestly, the poor grammar & language has left us with a migraine & we have to reach for the medicine cabinet. Have a great day!

The property is more beautiful than the photographs shown. A peculiar stay and true to the concept the moment you enter the space. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room we stayed was maintained well. Cleanliness was on spot on. It was a charming affair and would definately be planning another visit just to experience the property completely. The overall vibe was pleasant and was to our liking completly.
