Bird migration is a wonderful phenomenon which happens in almost all parts of our planet.
In every winter Sultanpur lake near Gurgaon buzzes with thousands of migratory birds, comprising of near about 50 species.
Siberian cranes are the most coveted visitors, others are flamingos, red head geese, pin tail ducks, herons, white breast gease, etc.

Reach there early morning to see the nature in action. The place is a short drive away from the hustle of bustle of Gurgaon city. An awesome place to watch birds and photograph as much as u can. Birds of different varieties migrate here in different seasons of the year. I have noticed a wide variety of birds when I visited n early March.

And the place is ideal too if u want to have a calm time with friends and family. Just find a good spot near the lake and lay down to enjoy the climate and bird sounds.

Taking Food inside the sanctuary premises is strictly prohibited.

Situated about 45 kilometres from Delhi and 15 kilometres from Gurgaon, is the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, on the Gurgaon - Farukh Nagar Road. This Sanctuary has great accommodation and a good restaurant with a bar attached.
From August - September to about March, there are literally thousands of resident as well as migratory birds at this place.
With a great location, this Motel, run by the Haryana Tourism, has good rooms at reasonable rates.
Early morning and late evening birding is a pleasure at this place.

I spent my last day in India at this lovely reserve. It was the perfect place to end a birding holiday in India and a real gem within an hour of Delhi (depending on traffic).
There is a wide variety of habitats and I compiled a list of over 100 species in about seven hours.
A guide is a real benefit if you aren't familiar with the wildlife and this needs to be arranged in advance.
If birding isn't your thing then the tranquil atmosphere alone is worth the trip; there were a number of families and couples here just enjoying a walk.
My group had lunch at the reserve restaurant which was very nice and inexpensive. Probably a good idea to book for a meal as it was very busy on the Thursday I was there.

Its rare to find a place so close to the busy metropolitan cities of NCR that's not touched by artificial luxury. The Sultanpur bird sanctuary , hardly 20 Km from the main Gurgaon new city , has plenty of migratory birds that flock the oasis of marsh land , a rarity in Gurgaon. Over the past decade efforts have been made to protect and gradually expand this natural depression of wet land to allow more birds to come and nestle during the cold winter months. We have been there a couple of time now and its always a delight to see hundreds of birds , the ducks and swans , herons , kingfishers of different varieties , floating in the marshes or resting on the branches of the trees . There are a few families of deers and sambar .
The entry fee is nominal , there is food available nearby , a small park for the children too. Have not tried the tourist complex yet but seems to be a nice complex .
For the more serious bird watchers , the Bharatpur bird sanctuary is just hours away near Vrindavan and fatehpur Sikri.

I went with my friends on a bike trip to this place. We weren't expecting a lot but it's much worse.

The govt like usual doesn't invest in anything. The place looks crap, the lake couldn't be dirtier.

IMPORTANT:
At the entrance we were asked to submit a photocopy of our identity card and they don't a photocopy machine anywhere in 10mks radius and they don't care. On enquiring other visitors, they had no clue about it and so one of the officials told us that this rule is only meant for group of friends and couples coming to the park.

We requested a family to get our tickets and it got very ugly dealing with them.

The time we reached was not the ideal time to visit so we didn't bother much.we clicked some pictures saw few parrots and went back.

Also,
They can say no to any random thing you are carrying and they don't have a locker or a place to Keep it.
We were on bikes so had no place to keep our bags but out of anger we kept them right on the counter and clicked a picture of it. Came back and found it right there :D
