Early this year I found out that I had to go to India for work. Having never been there before, and since my birthday was approaching, my husband and I decided to fly out together. He spent a week on his own in Madhya Pradesh and we met in New Delhi on March 26th to begin our Village Walks journey....

We visited two Shakti experiences and had very mixed results. The village walks are their claim to fame and we found the experience top drawer in 2013 for our first visit. It became apparent why we had such a terrific experience when we visited Ladakh in Sept 2015: our guide was exceptional the first visit but a disaster on the...

This was our second Shakti experience (previously Kumaon) and we weren't disappointed, although having read a recent scathing review we approached our village walk with a degree of trepidation. Then again, for the price Shakti charges you could also stay at...

We began our first ever trip to India with a stay at Shakti's Kumaon Villages and were literally blown away by the experience. Everything was superb, from the setting, to the houses, the villages, the staff, the walks, the birds, the weather, our first glimpse of the distant Himalayas, the beautifully furnished rooms, the food and especially our guide, Navarino....

Our Kumaon Village walks and Leti 360 trip was a memorable adventure. Combined, it was almost a week long trip. All the logistics were extremely well organised. Our guide, Stanzin, was a pleasure to be with: professional, flexible, interesting and caring. The scenery and experiences were fantastic. The food, both on the walks and at Leti, was exceptionally good with...
