Gir Birding Lodge is in a large mango orchard next to the entrance to the Gir Wildlife Sanctuary. The lodge has standard rooms, standard six deluxe cottages, all with attached toilets, featuring western toilet fittings, hot and cold showers. Comfortably furnished, the rooms and cottages are surrounded by groves of the famous Kesar Mango of the Gir hills and other vegetation ensuring that a good number of birds come into the property itself. The dining and drawing areas on the first floor of the lodge are airy and have large windows and verandas that are ideal for enjoying the view of the forests and watching birds in the orchard and nearby sanctuary. Indian set-menu meals are served in these rooms that have a superb view of the deciduous forests from large windows, doors, and verandahs. Geared up for birders and other nature lovers, the lodge has knowledgeable naturalists to take guests for natural history drives and walks in the sanctuary.

From the airport transfer, early morning and evening safaris, rooms and meals Gir Birding Lodge didn't disappoint. We organised everything from home in the UK by email and bank transfers, and everything we arranged was organised by the lodge perfectly. Transport, permits to enter the forest, Gipsy safaris with guides, food, rooms. Armit was a fabulous guide showing us everything from lions to bees and everything in between charmingly and knowledgably. Vijay and his team were courteous and helpful. Vijay made sure that we all had access to Wi-Fi and data, organising a cooking class, sending the recipes and enabling everything to run smoothly. The food was amazing, every meal cooked from fresh ingredients, much of it grown in the kitchen garden outside the restaurant window, the rest sourced locally and organic wherever possible. You won't find TVs in your rooms or perfect Wi-fi but there is more than enough to keep you entertained in the garden and mango orchard it is set in. I would recommend that you go on a morning safari as well as an evening one, and arrange a walk down by the river with Armit to see crocodiles, birds, bats etc.

Dear Guest, We’re so glad to hear that we were able to make your experience enjoyable and memorable. Our team is extremely efficient and hospitable, and is always prepared for whatever our guests may want or need. Since our lodges are built as getaways, we like to encourage guests towards outdoor activities, which is why we don’t have TVs in the rooms. Wi-Fi is available, but it is limited to the reception area since the area does not allow for long-range Wi-Fi. There are certain issues with the fundamental wiring, as well as the danger of the wires disrupting nearby wildlife, and vice versa. There is a multitude of outdoor activities to do, such as birdwatching and lion safaris. It was a pleasure hosting you, and we hope to see you again soon, whether it is back in Gir, or at one of our other lodges, like Jungle Lore in Pangot, or Van Serai in Jageshwar. Please don’t hesitate to reach out for more info! Krsnav Gir Birding Lodge Gujarat’s First Birding Lodge

As the name signifies, it is a lodge. Facilities matches that of a lodge. We had gone with high expectations looking at photos and the cost of room per day (7200 + 1500 for 8 year old) for with breakfast. Were originally disappointed with quality of room, especially of a bathroom. Found it very expensive for offering. May be it was due to peak Christmas holiday season.

But their excellent service made up for the early disappointment. Awesome service at Reception, Restaurant, birding tour etc… They were very helpful with our dietary restrictions and prepared special 0 spice meals for Breakfast and lunch and dinner we had there. Flexible with checkout.

Mr. Amit’s bird watching tour was excellent. He arranged binoculars for us and showed us many different species. He patiently repeated the bird names multiple times as we saw them at different locations. He is excellent spotter and has deep knowledge of the birds and took us on near by river and adjoining jungle for a walk. Encouraged us to walk further so that my 8 year old could see the crocodiles. Birding walk is highly recommended for people staying here. We saw more birds here than at Nar sarovar lake, later during our Gujrat trip.

In conclusion, property is nestled in mango orchard with good play area for kids and close to the safari center. Go with right expectations. Posting real current photos.

The staff at Gir Birding Lodge are wonderful and are always round the corner to help you and also always there to welcome you when you arrive at the property back from a safari.

The rooms are very comfortable and clean with a nice sit out for a cup of tea or to listen to early morning bird calls.

The best part is that the lodge is adjoining the park gates and it takes no time to get into the park for a safari. This saves time and also makes it very convenient! The lodge organises the safaris for you.

The rest of the place is great too! The rooms are spaced out well so you can have your own quiet corner. The food is super and can be adjusted to your palette if you request the management.

We were a big filming crew and were very well taken care of.
Great place to stay when in Gir.

I stayed here with my family this time (last time I stayed with my friends in January 2022). I had a very flawless and smooth stay with absolutely no complaints. I had requested for an early check-in (priorly on call) which was warmly provided. They assisted us with very small detailed comfort during our stay. They have clean rooms which are large and well maintained with all facilities like air conditioning, hot water facility, in room tea/coffee, towels and toiletries. They have a small kids playarea and is also placed close to the safari place. We had a great weekend all in all !!!

Gir birding lodge:

A charming hotel,
safely tucked away in one corner of Sasan, it is perhaps the only hotel situated just adjacent to one of the Safari route gates.
A mango orchard with lush green surroundings, the property is home to a good no. of birds,
The jungle too is not far away; one can always hear the alarm calls of deer from the rooms.
It’s quiet and peaceful, the lighting is soft, and the air is fresh; a saving grace from the perils of city life.

The rooms are cosy with a simple elegance,
food is healthy but delicious.

Their team is outstanding,
a bunch of locals working together with others from as far away as Assam & Nepal.

Amit, the lodge naturalist is a specialist bird watcher and he excels in his skills.
An extremely friendly warm and helpful human being, he’s versatile in his functions, any wildlife enthusiast going there surely needs to meet him, be it for a friendly chat or for a bird watching excursion.

Rameshbhai at the reception is soft spoken and welcoming, his presence very reassuring.
Yakub, their chief chef is a master at creating wonderful delicacies out of simple everyday food, his paneer masala being the best I’ve ever had!

If you wish to hear the sounds of silence, the songs of the birds and the calls of the wild,
go to Gir birding lodge.

Gir Birding Lodge is an amazing place to visit. Hotel bookings are done by Asia Adventures. We were lucky to have met the owner, Mohit, who helped us plan our activities and ensured that we were very well taken care of during our stay. It has simple, clean, and comfortable rooms with 24/7 hot water, good shower pressure, and an extremely attentive staff. Vijay ji is the man for anything you need, he is super kind and hospitable. The location is beautiful, it shares a wall with the national park and also has a mango orchard attached to it, which attracts a lot of birds. Amit ji is the in-house naturalist and birding expert. He is the warmest person you'll meet, he loves taking people for birding walks and showing them different species of animals. His immense knowledge and entertaining wildlife stories made this stay all the more memorable. He also organised a dinner for my wife and me, in the mango orchard under the stars. It was a wonderful experience. Gir Birding Lodge serves buffet style meals that are super delicious. It reminded me of home food, shout out to Yaku, the brilliant chef, and Kusal, the restaurant staff member who ensured we were well fed at all times.
Grateful to have stayed here and interacted with the staff who made our stay unforgettable.
Pro tip: Book tours and safari through the hotel. It’s worth the extra money.

After a long hiatus it was a welcome break from the daily 9 to 5 grind. Our itinerary included, among other places, a trip to the Gir National Park and Sanctuary. Our group leader, smart and
knowledgeable that he is, had booked our berths at Gir Birding Lodge. The place may well be called the corridor to Ground Zero, that is, Gir National Park. As we drove in through the pathway lined with trees and flowering hedges we were greeted with beaming smiles and chuckles spread from ear to ear. The place is a sprawling expanse of green with hundreds of mango trees and varieties of other trees. The mango trees being in full bloom the air was heavy with a sweet aroma. With the formalities over in a trice, we were ushered into our allotted rooms and the baggage was hauled up and put at our disposal. If people are looking for glitter and glitz this is not the place for them. What you get here is peace and serenity, nature's bounty and generosity. The rooms are adequately furnished and the food served, though not out of this world, caresses your palate and satiates your hunger. As we were hard pressed for time we couldn't go bird-watching. But still, on the whole our platter was full. What stumped us most is the amiability of the hosts - the perpetual smile on their faces and their eagerness to go that extra mile to please the guests. If you are lucky you may run into the chief host, Mr. Mohit Agarwal, the moving spirit behind the institution. An exceedingly affable and soft-spoken man, he talks almost in whispers. He calls himself a "nature lover". With no airs and no flamboyance, he sought us out at the cafeteria and struck up a conversation that lasted about half an hour. Again, on the day we were leaving he was right there bidding us adieu and asking us to plan another visit for a longer duration. This ability to embrace strangers and this kind of hospitality are not prompted by business interests and this is what will draw people to this place no less than the possibilities of sighting a lion and a couple of winged guests!

Gir birding lodge will be a wonderful experience for people who are visiting gir for holiday as well as birding and wildlife.
Situated on the edge of the Sanctuary it gives an amazing view of the jungle with wildlife at your balcony.
Our stay was quite pleasant the staff is quite cooperative and respectful.
Especially at the reception is an amazing guy.
The rooms are spacious and ventilated with no obstructions and a breath taking view just at your balcony is a piece on the cake.

I personally suggest gir birding lodge as one of the very good lodges in gir.

This place is wonderful - set in a mango grove, the air is filled with bird song. We visited with our three kids aged 15, 12 and 10 who all loved it. Birds and little squirrels everywhere. Sweet and very comfortable little homely cottages with a bird theme An amazing, huge Bunyan tree with a swing and a hammock in the garden. Food is delicately flavoured and delicious. Amazing value and right next to the national park. They arranged two safaris for us and we were accompanied by the incredibly knowledgeable and sweet guide, Amit. He was also great with the kids and took us on a nature walk to the arboretum where we saw loads of langur monkeys and bats. And on the safari day we hired a rickshaw for 300 rupees and went to look at lots of crocodiles by the nearby river. Highly recommend this very special place.

We had a wonderful stay at Gir Birding Lodge for a day. The place is quietly nestled amongst mango trees away from the noisy roads. The ambience of this place captures your senses in a way that makes it extremely difficult to venture out after having come into this place. The rooms are not posh but very welcoming and neatly kept. Staff is very accommodating, and they allowed us early check-in. Hotel serves a decent veg lunch and a combination of veg and non-veg for dinner (both on order) . Please be mindful that cards are not acceptable and payment is in cash.
