it's the people that have made my 6 weeks at the Lui Beach Resort worth staying here. From Kumar who every morning greeted me with a smile and a handshake to Maheva who was the pool/landscape guy who met me with a salute and a smile. The crew here were like a family, with Tommy behind the bar trying trying to anticipate my order, but shucks i'll change my preferences everyday. as for my room (120) i enjoyed looking over the main street. No major complaints in what is a 2 star hotel. I did report an issue with the A/C that wasn't addressed and had puddles of water to step on for my last week. However for 22 euro a night which included a basic breakfast i was happy. The crew made it a memorable stay. Some previous reviews i cannot condone, no rats, clear pool , no insect issues (but i did have my insect spray) . this is a 2 star hotel, let's not forget this . I was happy here.

Have just returned from a 4 week stay at the lui. Although unimposing, It's a well established hotel and the staff were attentive and any problems are dealt with promptly (only had one issue all the time there). Breakfast was basic, but the same at most places, unless you go upmarket and pay top dollar. It's a 10 minute walk to the beach and some lovely restaurants within a short walking distance. The main nightlife is in candolim, 15 minutes walk or a short taxi ride away. We ate at the hotel on some of the themed nights and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. It was a good place to unwind and we felt relaxed.Staff could not have been any more helpful than they were. Will return next year.

Now I have read the recent reviews, and I feel that a more balanced view might help. The Lui Beach Resort makes no secret it is a budget hotel and has no pretensions ,if you go to Goa regularly you will know that there are good and bad places to stay and eat, I think this is about in the middle. A lot of the negative reviews have made accurate points but I always resort to the old adage, this is India and nothing ever goes to plan or is how its described so buyer beware(look at the bypass from the airport and the proposed new airport) You must expect rats in India ok around the dining area might be disconcerting but Ive been to Gambia and one jumped on my table, see where I’me going with this! The Lui isn’t everybody cup of tea but if you don’t mind some disruption, old fashioned rooms, yes sometimes not up to UK standards give it a try, don’t compare it, experience it ,we had a laugh at the noisy ceiling fan, the old showers and wet toilet roll, ask for some more, the breakfast is eggs but you can pay for other things I had a lovely bacon egg sandwich, remember go to the O hotel etc pay double for everything and that wasn’t amazing. In essence try or don’t try your choice but reviews in anger can be misleading, so can reviews with rose tinted glasses, generally we enjoyed our stay, staff amazing and friendly, give it a try but beware it is a budget hotel and I mean budget! Do your research not just based on price!

Good vacation and the hotel made us feel like a family, my children enjoyed their vacation and are happy to go again. The best part is that the beach is just back of the hotel. Event the staff were very cooperative.

arrived on a TUI holiday 10th January. Shown to a VERY basic upper floor worst we have ever seen in the 23 years of going to Goa. Refused it and offered a disgustingly filthy what they called "VILLA". Fridge filthy on the outside never mind the inside and an inch of dirty on the curtain poles. Rang the rep and before he arrived were shown to a very small ground floor room - but this time it was clean. Told we would be moved in a couple of days to a better room when someone moved out. Sorry but would expect a decent room on arrival. When the rep left checked the window and it wouldn't lock! Ceiling fan either just on or full speed and very noisy. Bathroom so small had to move toilet paper into the bedroom or it would have got soaked. No hot water at wash basin. Moved out and paid to stay in decent accommodation. Another £420.00 but hey ho had a great holiday after that. Definitely would not recommend

Lui beach hotel. Scruffy and basic. Soiled pillows and towels. Poor choice of breakfast. Rats seen at night round bar area. Wouldn't go again. Originally allocated a room down the road, which was more like a room for workmen. After complaining we were moved to a room over looking the pool which was slightly better. Electric hit and miss and shower very poor.

Myself and partner, have just spent two.weeks at Lui Beach Hotel, I can only say I felt very dissatisfied with our stay, first room offered was out of the small complex, it was dirty and unsatisfactory, on complaint 24hrs later we were offered the room to which we had originally paid overlooking the pool. The room was an improvement but not brilliant, pillows had somebody stale blood on, and very dirty, on complaint we were given brand new pillows, as the week moved on we began to notice Ants on balcony to which we bought our own mosquito, Ant spray. Bedding often had stains on, and white towels often had discolouration on. Breakfast consisted of dry white bread, the staff referred to as toast, eggs were either scrambled, fried or boiled, to which I will point still had bird poo on the shell. Then towards the end of Week one, Roland the rat appeared, very confidently running around the dinners area. Although the accommodation we feel was very poor, Goa we found to be a different experience, and not put off.
