We planned for a short trip to Chandigarh in Dussehra holidays. Intent was to have a break from the noise and pollution of Delhi and heading to a place nearby. Since we were traveling with kids, they wanted to stay at a property with pool where they can have a splash!!
We ended up choosing Shivalikview as the property has a good pool and is in the heart of Chandigarh city.
The hotel is conveniently located near Sector 17 and 22 market and all other attractions are also nearby.
Pool is of good size and the water is pretty clean. Changing rooms have fresh towels and lockers are available. Hotel has spa and gym facility as well.
But undoubtedly the best part was the food served. We had a MAP plan and the spread at Breakfast and dinner was too good. Seldom have I seen so much variety being served in included Breakfast and dinner but Hotel Shivalikview makes sure it's guests are treated to luxury.
Rooms are spacious and cosy and have all the amenities.
Overall a good experience... Surely will visit again.
However, the best part turned out to be food. We had a

Visited this hotel in connection with an official conference and found the stay quite comfortable.

Rooms are large and had a lovely view of the Shivalik mountains in the distance. Adequate toiletries were provided and rooms equipped with tea/coffee maker, etc.

Staff was quite cooperative. Restaurant fare offered a variety in the buffet with multiple salads too but dessert was limited to a single option.

All in all a pleasant experience.

I have visited this place 3 times in three year's, Only thing this hotel is improvised in breakfast spread, which is very sad and South Indian dishes you should avoid, don't try also you may regret. If you are avid eater you'll regret eating it. Try only partaha and curd.
I hope next time they improvised in they're spread..

You'll get bored of the breakfast, so think of options. Good rooms otherwise, it's a little "sarkaari" so if you want to get customizations, be sure to check with the managers much in advance. They are usually helpful. Wifi sucks so make sure you have a back up. Housekeeping takes a bit of time, more so because they invariably run on full capacity so you might want to think much in advance if you want something from them cuz they will take time. Property doesn't have much except a pool, spa (overpriced for the experience) and gym. For food, make sure you order room service than go for the buffet. Room service is as good as the buffet sucks. Must visit Cloud 9 atleast once, food is a little overpriced but can try once. Mutton is good.

Situated at very convenient location, facilities are also nice. Food was ok though. Breakfast spread was also ok type. In house restaurants gives you good options but then again one may also visit nearby places for food.

Outdated, mouldy, very old furniture, dingy smelly bathrooms, peeling walls, very uncomfortable mattresses. Service was good & location excellent however, as well as staff willing to oblige. Their 6th floor restaurant worth a visit & if the above doesnt bother you, it is surrounded by greenery, away from traffic noise & quite a large establishment

The location of hotel is very good. Property is average and has much better potential than what it is currently utilized as. The maintenance staff, crew and the management needs to pull up their sock. They're currently working like a government establishment rather I'd say now a days even government setups are much more efficient than Shivalikview.

The crew at Le Chef where they serve the breakfast is not the most friendliest. They behaved as of they are doing a favor on the guests. An individual Charu Sharma was very possessive about the breakfast facility and behaved as if the whole revenue of the hotel is through complimentary breakfast.

The little things matter and they are missing. If you are used to fine dining and luxury stays don't be fooled by the 4-star rating of this hotel. Better head to the well established ones nearby like Marriott, Lalit and Hyatt. We stayed at Shivalikview for a day and are seriously considering checking out now.

We stayed there for a night while transiting from Theog / Shimla to Mumbai via Chandigarh. I have stayed here earlier, so the lack of upkeep was even more appalling. To start with, the airconditioning was not working. When I complained, the technician came in and found that there was so much dust on the filter that it was completely choked. Most of the plug points were broken or non functional. We had to connect our phones with the points available in the bathroom. The doors / windows would not shut properly - as a result when there was a storm / rain, the door kept on banging incessantly.

I think it is just a question of being able to maintain the hotel properly. It is well located in Sector 17, which is still the hub of all activities - so has a lot of potential.

Rooms are average but bathrooms are below average as taps not working properly even in my colleagues room also. However what I felt very very poor about this hotel is service and staff behaviour. They are highly not friendly, all have rude attitudes towards guests. Especially at breakfast time the lady manager with his co-manager(or junior may be) both treat us as they are providing food on their own. They literally told us that they couldn't provide this-that even for a single bread cutlet, how cheap service they give, pathetic.

We stayed for a day while coming back from Shimla. The location is really nice just walking distance from sector 17 market.
The rooms are spacious with balcony. All basic toiletries are provided. Also electric kettle and water bottle is provided.
The service is also good. Only the washroom needs a bit more maintenance. It is clean but the walls look old and damp.
Coming to the buffet breakfast, it is a good spread. It has variety and is tasty.
