We chose this Hotel because of its proximity to where we had work in the city. We had a look at the room before we made the booking, a young intern, Mr. Kunwar showed us the room, he was confident and polite and his attitude played a big role in our making up our mind to stay here. The room was big and clean. The bathroom was okay, it had a tub, but was not difficult to get in and out of, for taking a shower. For the price we paid, the accommodation was more than satisfactory. Lots of restaurants accross the road from it. Breakfast was disappointing as were the staff at breakfast, not a very pleseant experience, but we did not go hungry.. The fruit was cold and smelly. The management of the Hotel needs to be more hands on, the housekeeping staff do not wish the patrons and the corridors and reception bathrooms were being mopped with stinky mops and no one was bothered that this gave the Hotel an unappealing ambience. Nice gym facilities which are privately managed.

A group of 8 friends from the same organisation met at restaurant of Hotel Mountview. We started with a drink (whisky) for 4 and soup for the remaining 4. Friends decided to order for Chinese food - Veg Manchurian, Chili Paneer, Friend Rice and Veg Noodles. Food was excellent and ambiance was very soothing. Overall, it was a memorable evening!!!

Staying here for past two days. I appreciate the fact that market is just at a walking distance right opposite market.
Must have pastry at Capital Bakery which may not look very upmarket but has an Old world charm. That might be the reason for maximum inflow of buyers here.
Breakfast at the hotel nothing exceptional- and for that matter I guess in almost all the same category hotel.
Normally i really enjoy the kadak chai at the hotel. In this hotel I did not enjoy the masala tea.
Most of the plug points you can plug in, but no electrical connection

I visited this hotel in nov 2022 with group booking of 8 rooms.
i feel so sad to say very bed condition of room when property show 5-star.
staff is not trained or unprofessional restaurant & housekeeping both.
when ask for towel always say we already give you before even after returning first two towel.
limit is crosses when one of my group room did not got towel and we had 1hr delay in city tour.
in arrival luggages pickup is very delayed. we had 8 room and 30/35 big bags

I’m not sure whether we got poor rooms because there were a number of weddings taking place but the rooms we got were a little shabby. Particularly the bathrooms which were in dire need of refurbishment.
But worst of all was the general lack of cleanliness in some areas of the hotel.
When the public corridor areas are so dirty (seriously, buy a vacuum cleaner and give it a clean every so often. It can’t be that tricky) you then feel uncomfortable lying in the bed or eating the breakfast, because you’re worried that lack of cleanliness will be repeated everywhere.
But worst of all was the general lack of cleanliness in some areas of the hotel.

I went to this hotel with my family on April 16, 2024. Not only were the hallways stinking, the staff were completely oblivious to this fact (or were pretending to be).
We booked 2 rooms for 4 of us, and they were smelling of mold and fungus. The hotel staff changed our rooms but still one of the rooms had the terrible old smell and we could feel ourselves getting sick. We got tired after seeing 3-4 more rooms and all 4 of us decided to sleep in 1 bedroom. Me and my brother had to sleep on mattresses on the FLOOR and this hotel didn't care for anything.
We complained to our travel agency and they had the audacity to say that it was my family who "kept on cancelling the new rooms they're giving out".
Total blasphemy. Right after we left the next day, we all ended up getting cough and a throat infection which hasn't healed till now (a week later).
You can see insects, termites, furniture which is so old that calling it vintage is a shame on that style, poor maintenance, liars and ignorants for staff.
I would like to thank this hotel for providing absolutely nothing.

We have stayed at Hotel Mountview before and had been very happy with the place. When we visited Chandigarh again, it was our hotel of choice. There was a warm welcome from the reception staff and we were taken to a quiet room which was well-appointed and clean. We did not have dinner in the hotel [we were visiting friends] but breakfast the next morning offered a good range of food. Security at the hotel is thorough. We would have no hesitation in using this hotel if we are in Chandigarh in the future.

Attended marriage and dinner is so tasteless with worse quality, never recommend anyone to have marriage and dinner here. Each and every dish is tasteless and not sure what is cooked. Please think before you spends such huge money and don't waste your hard earned money

Despite the old world charm of the hotel, I was surprisingly delighted with my stay.
As someone used to deploying Branded Hotel Stays, this property surpassed my expectations.
The design, the lobby and the lawns are breathtaking, and not one that you would expect. I happened to stay a few nights on a Business Visit, and to be honest, had minimal expectations.
But the hotel carries an underdog charm that leaves a lasting impression on you. The room was massive, with a great view of the lawns, and well kept.
I could make out that the hotel was very old, but yet, well maintained despite many challenges. The staff seemed to be very tenured and senior, but they had the truest intentions of looking after the comfort of their guests.
The strength of the property is the FOOD! What a splendor experience. Right from in-room dining, to breakfast and the lavishly rich lunches. The hotel brings out the spirit of Punjabi food much alive. Lip smacking dishes and great variety.
Do try to sit out in the late evenings, by the restaurant, at their lawns. I particularly enjoyed green tea in the biting evening chill of Chandigarh with a friend, and couldn't gauge how time passed by.
I would like to recognize Sonu from the F&B Service team, who looked after our Banqueting experience with sheer dedication for two days Thank you for your hospitality, Team Mountview!

Of late, have started staying at Mountview when visiting Chandigarh. It gets back all the nostalgic memories of 20 years back when we used to stay in Chandigarh. Remember the lip smacking Chinese food at Magic Wok and how we used to come to their dining restaurant for the most amazing cheese omelette on Sunday mornings. Also realised, there is no substitute for experience. Believe they would have the most vintage employees working for them. The service levels are the same, to put it straight - amazing ! The rooms/ infrastructure could do with some catching up with the newer top notch names that have now come in Chandigarh. But when you get the kind of service that wows you, who cares as much. Afterall you’re staying only for 1-2 nights ! Rock on fellas !
