Hotel's Favourite
This is one of the best properties in portblair and also the staff and their service is exceptional. It is placed in a wonderful location with a nice ocean view and cleanliness of property is very good. It's very well maintained.
Some of the staff i would like to call out is Nagaraj and Joykutty in Restaurant. Nagaraj is an asset to this hotel with the kind of service he offers to guests Bharat in the front office assistant. All the reception staff were also very good as the check in and check out was very smooth. They even were so kind enough to extend the pool hours too considering my son's request, which was really something which you don't expect most hotels to do.
The food also is exceptional except the breakfast where the continental and Indian food is good however the deserts and juices need massive improvement as both days that we had, it wasn't fresh.
Overall, a great place for vacation and with amazing hospitality, do go for it

The property is practically sunken behind trees and a roofing, also green. Opposite a vast Paddock tree is the Lobby, as you are approaching the smiling ladies at the reception the view goes past the bar to literally fall into the blue Andaman Sea. Set just off the sea the Welcomhotel Bay Island never fails to surprise.
In December Andaman had no new cases for a week! Yet at the table in the restaurant the cutlery & napkin are in sanitised paper packs. And then the food! The Lobster done perfectly and the fish curry ...
But the greatest gift for my wife and me was - our daughter finished her assignment early and would join us at Port Bair! Thanks to the General Manager Anuj Kapoor, we were upgraded to a room opening out to a 180 degree sweep of the sea and room enough for us all. Thank you!

Is this a ITC hotel? For namesake but not in reality. The reception is surviving because of a couple of people like Sannasi and Georgina. The restaurant is surviving because of another couple of senior people like Kutty and Sasi. Imagine this... 2 people are to take care of all the guests at dinner (taking a la carte orders, serving, cleaning, keeping eye on buffet and refilling, ...). It is a shame on the management and ITC to attach their name to this.
It is at the best possible location overlooking the Northbay island with its lighthouse in view (from the old Rs.20 note). Rooms are comfortable and amenities are good. However, bathroom shower is not isolated and has gaps in the frame so while taking shower, entire bathroom floor gets wet.
Service is non-existent and I feel, the problem is with the staff strength. Very understaffed.
Imagine this... in a room with 3 people, there is one water jug with a litre of water. You need to keep calling the housekeeping (they don't pickup and the call gets forwarded to reception) to replenish drinking water.
Internet is available only in the lobby (no issue) but there were too many mosquitoes to sit for a couple of minutes.
It was difficult to even get the hotel contact number online. After writing to ITC reservations, got a response that they have informed the hotel and someone will contact. After 4 days, no response. Search for the hotel contact information at multiple places and finally reached them to confirm room for a short stay while transiting port blair.
I wish management wakes up and improves the service with appropriate number of staff. Existing staff are doing their best but it is not humanely possible to offer good service (that one would expect in a ITC hotel) with such few staff.

We booked this hotel because of ITC brand name associated with this hotel. They are immensely understaffed and the services are pathetic. The place is taking apart. Right from reception to their restaurants. They don't have wifi and if you ask for it, they will share the one that is working in reception area where they will not even provide you with the password. Spa and pool doesn't work. Third grade food quality. There is only 1 waiter working in restaurant and I could see people lining up in front of the kitchen to somehow place their order. I hope the GM of this hotel rectifies this problem or the management should seriously rethink of keeping this GM. People try and get another hotel and avoid this one at all cost !!

I am usually travel with my friends and family and always book hotels after carefully checking them online. Since the location was new and not many hotels were available in the location I relied on the brand name of ITC for my overnight stay in Port Blair.
I was travelling with my wife and baby and my friends to Andamans and had booked a room in ITC property for a night stay since had to fly to Delhi on 3 April 2021. When we arrived at the property I was already late and noticed many people waiting on the reception to check in.
When my turn came I was bluntly told that I do not have a booking at the property. It was so disgusting and the staff had no clue to my questions. This is when I am Gold tier member of ITC. My friends who had also booked a room got theirs but I was denied. After multiple talks I reached out to HDFC concierge team since I booked through them for this goof up and arranged a call with the Manager on duty. It was so horrible to wait for 2 hours with my baby and wife at the reception and to find out that due to technical take over issue I was denied the booking even when I had paid full amount of room rent in advance. There were no rooms available and I had to squeeze in with my friends on sharing basis. It was my birthday that day I got such a horrible experience.
This all happened when I had made bookings in advance and had confirmation from ITC centralized team of the booking.
Even the property was in such a bad condition...no Wi-Fi, no packaged drinking water and lesser staff.
I will not recommend with is property to anyone visiting Port Blair instead book another chain of hotel.

Pluses - Great location, nice room, comfortable bed, amazing food
Minuses - Had booked for two adults and one child (under 12 years), had only a small queen size bed in the room. On requesting for a larger bed, we were given an option of taking an extra Ved on payable even though our booking wax for 2 adults and one child.
Overall would recommend this hotel !

Everything in this hotel will give a guest a WOW effect right from the word go. The location is unparalleled. The crystal blue sea is right in front and the view can be abundantly enjoyed from the bar and the restaurant. The reception is so well designed that the moment you enter it gives you that relaxed feeling. And the welcome drink, a full glass of coconut water soothes your system. I never found anything lacking despite the fact that the hotel did hardly any business during the Covid times and is still going through related issues like disruption of flights into Port Blair, etc. The passionate team under the leadership of Mr. Anuj Khanna was extremely caring and attentive. Food was another big plus. The wizardry of Gaurav the Chef was thoroughly enjoyed. The breakfast buffet was quite well spread so was the lunch one. We went in for "a la carte" in the evening and every dish tasted awesome. I must mention the name of Pallav at the front office and must thank him for coming forward and helping us when my wife fell down near the entrance. Our stay was too short, just for one night. We felt it would be worth another visit to Port Blair so as to savour the hotel a little more. Highly recommended.

This hotel name is now changed to Welcomhotel Bay Island Port Blair (managed by ITC) . This hotel is ideally located with nice sea views - few minutes drive to Aberdeen Jetty, Marina aquarium, Cellular Jail , Corbyn Beach & also Airport. We were upgraded to sea view suite with 2 Balconies. Suite has a living room , Bedroom & large Bathroom/ Storage area. . Views from Balcony are amazing .Coffee shop is very good specially Andaman Fish Curry , & is open till 10.30 PM. Hotel also has nice bar. Service level is very good & prompt.Reception & Front desk very cooperative -special mention of Ms Georgina. Conceirge well handled by Mr Xavier. Please note that for visit to Ross Island, booking is to be done 1 day in advance.

A mixed experience! Not worth the money we paid! we chose it as it is an ITC member hotel but the looks and feel are disappointing. Changed two rooms in 3 nights because they did not look at our request for sea facing room in the on-line registration so availability was only for two nights. The hotel is under renovation. No access to swimming pool.No internet access in the room. TV remote did not work. One good thing was the food was good and so is the service in the restaurant (Mandalay). We used the travel desk for sight seeing. The cost was exorbitant and the services were poor.It needs a face-lift and be vibrant and make the guest feel worth the stay.

The ITC Port Blair is a safe, clean / hygenic and 'workable' property.Good hotel and lovely location to spend holidays with family.
This hotel is ideally located with nice sea views - few minutes drive to Aberdeen Jetty, Marina aquarium, Cellular Jail , Corbyn Beach & also Airport.
Rooms are comfortable and amenities are good.Once you look out of the balcony, the serenity of the bay and its alluring blue - green shade makes the shortcomings dissapear.The view of the Andaman Sea was too good to miss.
Our food was made more palatable by hospitality of young girls Pratibha with the guidance provided by Johnson and especially the special Andaman Non veg thali was awesome a must try for non veg eaters and for veg you can try all the Paneer dishes and enjoy the fresh and fluffy paneer. Starting from breakfast to dinner the food was really mouth watering and lip smecking.
The best thing was that I wanted to surprise my husband by a surprise dinner accompanied with a pleasant lighting and decoration of the room to make his last day special in Port Blair.In this I want to thank Subramanian sir and his staff to really make my that last day very special through the wonderful lighting and rose petal decoration all'over accompanied with jasmine flower and it's fragnace in the room.
Internet is available only in the lobby (no issue) but there were too many mosquitoes to sit for a couple of minutes,but rest its really a wonderful place to stay.
Would love to visit this property again

Yes I saw the elevator being installed and minor renovations ,when we were there in 1st week of jan..bar is working ..pools everywhere r shut..and we had a sea facing small room ,don’t know how many..u need to check with th hotel
