We stayed over at Mrs Dinaz's place, during our stretch over at Port Blair. I had been travelling with my mom and her friend, details ironed through Shiraz over whatsapp. An absolutely wonderful experience, Mrs. D and Shiraz were great hosts, and boy, did we learn a lot through our conversations of things to do in and around Port Blair, much of history, heritage and cuisine in a short span! I enjoyed our evening conversations by the stairs on how our day's travels went and much valued suggestions for things to do for our next day! Shiraz was instrumental in helping me out with our travels to North Andaman, Diglipur, which was exceptional and worth the experience. Their place was comfortable, logistics helped with brilliantly and food decent! The tea was a highlight, loved it to bits. Would be a regular pitstop for me on future repeats to Port Blair!

Excellent for solo travel or family/ groups.

Located minutes away from Haddo Jetty, Phoenix Bay, Bus Station, Airport and Aberdeen Bazaar.

Very warm and accommodating host family.

Do consider a kayak excursion with
Tanaz and Shiraz.

Thank you.

We stayed with the Noble family for 3 nights at Port Blair and can say without a doubt that it was the best choice we made. The family is very warm, welcoming and excellent hosts. They ensure that we as their guests are comfortable as in our homes. Their terrace is a great place to have your meals or just sit and enjoy the breeze or view of the main Haddo port. Mrs Noble and Shiraz were a pleasure to talk to. They gave us lots of suggestions, insights of places of interest in Andamans.

The rooms and toilets are neat and very clean. Gets good natural light. Are spacious and well ventilated.

As some earlier reviews have mentioned that its location is far from the main market. But yet its just an auto ride of Rs 40 away. Its close to the Samdurika museum and other touristy destinations. Being away from the market and its crowd actually works in favour of the homestay. Trust me, no other place can serve as good food as Mrs Noble's cook Meera does. We had all our bfasts and dinners at their place. She even packed us lunch since our airlines dint have meal service

Prices are very reasonable for the suite or single room. They are well furnished to take care of all your needs. The rooms have TV but i suggest you chat with the family in evenings instead. Take their excellent tips about places to visit, ferrys or stays in other islands.

All in all a perfect place to stay and enjoy as a couple family or with friends!!

If Port Blair is not your main destination but your transit point to or from Havelock Island or any of the other islands, then you are probably looking for an inexpensive, comfortable place just for the night.

Noble Homestay is an ideal option that provides a 'home away from home' atmosphere. The large bungalow is home to Mrs. Noble and her family and they offer four rooms for guests at a very economical rate.

The rooms (all non a/c and without televisions) are large, airy and bright. The Nobles have a notice in each room that requests guests to treat their home with care; feel free to join them in the main house to watch television; ask about internet use and pre-order meals.

We did not meet Mrs. Noble as she was traveling but her efficient caretaker Mohan and his wife saw to it that we were comfortable. Mohan's wife is an excellent cook and produced a delicious 5 course dinner. The home style cooking and flavors of this meal were so welcome after a week of eating out at restaurants. Her south Indian breakfast was also excellent.

Mohan was very resourceful and helped us organize our day of birding around Port Blair. He got us in touch with a yellow and black taxi driver who drove us to Chidiya Tapu and Wandoor at a fraction of the cost we would have paid if we had hired a private taxi. Mohan also gave us information on the best way to get to Mt. Harriet (which from Noble house is a very short rick/bus-ferry-jeep) ride away.

This homestay is not in the center of town. It is located in a residential area on a hill with terrace views of the sea. However it provides a lovely feel of being 'at home' and is a 10 minute ride by rick or 30 minute walk away from the main market.

The only not so pleasant experience to an other wise great 2 night stay at Noble was that the large bathroom attached to the room we stayed in, on the top floor, we were later told we would have to share with a family who would be in the adjoining room. This was a bit of a let down. The bathroom has two access doors which means each time you want to use it you have to lock the neighbors access and then remember to open it post use. Once you get used to that it's ok. It could however get very annoying if the other guests are messy or if you are desperate to use a restroom (Mohan was kind enough to let me use one of the other loos in the house). These rooms are ideal for families that need two rooms.

I would recommend Noble Homestay as it is comfortable, clean and homely.

We (3 adults) stayed here for 1 night on the recommendation of a family friend before our ferry to Havelock Island.

On the positive side, the room was very clean, the beds were comfy and the owner was available to assist us by phone when we called.

The overall experience however, was unpleasant.

The room was very dark. The house was on a very steep hill, which was difficult for my Mother (who is disabled) to walk into and out of. The Wi-Fi was not working during our stay and was only accessible if you were near the router in the upper floor. The owner was very short with us. We arrived on a 3pm flight which by the time we physically stepped in the door was closer to 5pm. We were not able to settle in or even take our luggage into our rooms before we were told we had to "hurry up" and decide if we wanted a driver to take us to a local tourist spot and to dinner. And also whether we wanted to have breakfast in the morning and what we wanted to eat. She was on the phone as she was asking us and told us if we didn't decide now, it would be "difficult" to arrange for later. In any case we said yes to everything, and later decided not to go to the lit up prison, and had an ok meal at the restaurant that was booked for us. The breakfast the next morning was poori baji for 3 people, which they charged us rs. 600 for and served it late so we didn't have time to sit down and eat properly before our ride to the airport showed up.
When I tried to pay the remainder of our invoice the owner was very rude to me about what I owed insinuating I was not paying her enough but she did not give me the correct information in the first place.
It was not a pleasant first experience for our first night in the Andamans.

Thank you for mentioning the positive. Regret my memory does not locate your stay, but going by the details, the cab booking is difficult after 5 as most drivers are go off duty around that time. We are a homestay and do not stock provisions like restaurants, we need to know the breakfast preference before the shops close. The price of breakfast is prominently displayed, and the choice of puribhaji was entirely yours. The time of serving is also yours, so if the time is late then you asked for it late. We have now discontinued breakfast before 7am, as people rarely have time to eat it. Besides peole don't realise how early the household had to wake up to accommo date such a request, and it is rarely appreciated. After you have slept and eaten, is not the time to haggle, such tactics will not be appreciated by us either.

We stayed in the place for 2 days in feb 2016 and they were nightmare for us. The Owner does not remember the name ,whos staying in their house even after checking-in! you have to remind her every time u call her! The lady son shouted on our driver for coming in from wrong gate. No welcome, no homely atmosphere at all. on first day we just left the place for local sight seeing and did not use shower and all. In the evening we wanted to freshen-up and go to bed early as we were tired .But midway the shower went dry and shiraz just could not tell when he he will restore water supply.on repeated asking ,her daughter used abusive language. Then next day early morning we had to go to Bartang and there was no water supply in wash basin ! If u are charging at par with hotels, then u have to provide basic amenities like water supply? Teas ,cost was exorbitant! Food was pathetic .In our two days we were just left to find water in the home with no one to enquire about our miseries. We just wanted a good home atmosphere and not luxury like hotels but we were left to find if water was coming in tabs!

Its a pity that on this forum we owners have no choice but to be defensive. If only we had some place where we could lodge the identity of bad guests so we could warn other establishments. I don't know what his intention was, i was away from Port Blair at that time due to an emergency, and we were house full. We have separate water tanks for each apartment so that one guest cannot blame another. He drained his tank out consistently till he found out that by doing so only he is affected and no one else. I kept receiving phone calls right thru the night for some reason or the other beyond my control. Meal prices are displayed on our website, and clearly they are optional.

This is the first time I am writing a review based on booking experience. After reading so many positive reviews of this place on TA, I submitted a query from the enquiry option in the homestay website. I did not receive any response so I sent them a mail. I received a response the other day and I called up Mrs Dinaz 2 days later. On trying to introduce myself I mentioned about my mail. In general the response which you expect is "Ok" or "Alright" or "Oh yes tell me". The response which I received was "We get so many emails each day, how can I remember who you are?" I was bit taken aback but tried to hit a conversation. But the lady was outrightly rude. I also enquired about her waterhouse which had looked adventurous to me. I had a lot of queries but she was getting irritated. She was interrupting my conversation, cutting me through and her delivery was very very rude. At the end I was very stressed with this conversation and apologized for calling her.
I do not know how people end up booking here if this is the way she talks. May be they only do email conversations.

You still do not reveal your identity, all you did was critical queries of why someone said this and why someone wrote that. Text messages with no names mean nothing. If I have to save every caller's number, I would have to use dozens of handsets.!!!! On top of all that you threaten over the phone about putting a bad review!!Please, your review shows up your attitude. Someone like you would definitely not understand why people who have stayed once keep coming back.

You booked because the room rate is limited but expected 5 star facilities....well I have now added more facilities with a marginal increase. In India we prefer to use water jets in our toilet, it is more environment friendly but the toilet roll is available in the shop next door. The towels are thin Indian ones which wash easily and dry easily and can be washed frequently.

We had stayed at the Noble homestay on 28 Nov 17. The place is one the lower level, has a steep slope from the main road to reach. Though it was clean and well maintained, we could spot cockroaches near the entrance door and one in the bathroom, behind the curtains. The rooms are very dimly lit, power cut was observed for about an hour. A dog is always present near the door who would gain entry if door is not closed, which could be scary for those not so found of dogs. Mrs Noble, though informed on mail for lunch, couldn't ensure it was ready, and we had to head to a restaurant immediately on arriving (though the restaurant she suggested turned out to be a good one). We paid 3650/- for a night stay with dinner for two. Tea and milk were charged too. A genuine logic to all this would be that this is expected of a homestay, which many would not accept. I think Port Blair has better options to offer at same price.

Thankyou for saying the homestay is clean and well maintained. Steep slopes(find it everywhere in Port Blair) and power cuts are not really in my control, but giving you continuous lights and fan are, you forgot to mention there was inverter in your apartment ( I guess you are human and forget) we genuinely had a bad morning and forgot your lunch order, why would we miss out on a business opportunity? We apologised for that, no need for vengeance.

The family was accommodating and helpful, but the rooms need attention. There is no A/C and no coffee maker in the room. Roof top is available if you want to BYOB and hang out in the evening, but you have to walk through the family home. That feels odd.The windows have bars on them. Next time, we will pay a little more to stay at SeaShell and overlook the bay and have tropical drinks and relax Island style vs staying in town.

Your flat was under the transition to A/c, hence under rennovation and you were offered to stay elsewhere for the period, but since the rest of the group was happy with the accomodation, you chose to stay here and we did our best to ensure you had a comfortable stay. Not to forget this is a "homestay" and all homes have a limitation on security, hence we all put grills/ bars (old house) on our homes in India. We cannot have a bar/restaurant in a homestay without liscence. In fact I would like to know if there are any homestays with this facility. It is unfair to conpare us to a hotel, where the living space is half of what you had, at three times the price you paid. We will be directly connecting the terrace to the homestay guests so that they do not pass host rooms, but so far we have not minded it, as our guests are always welcome in our space for interaction,

Hi, the season I would say is from October to March. But if you really want to enjoy yourself and not be too much in the crowd then you have to plan your trip in October or in March. Ideally the the best months in the season are Jan and Feb. So it is for you to decide when you would like to visit. For queries about homestay please mail on the address given in my contacts page.
