Her presence (along with her darling dog Mowgli) and her team of wonderful people make your stay here a happy, rejuvenating experience.
The rooms are comfortable, well planned and have mattresses that are perfect for sound sleeping. You are assured a digital detox in the room as wifi is only available in the restaurant and Chidiya Tapu has no cellular connectivity besides bsnl. As these are wooden cottages, if you're in a ground floor room, and have people staying above you, you will hear them walk around.
The food at their restaurant is delicious, fresh and wholesome.
If you're looking to dive while at Chidiya Tapu, please look no further than Bigtree's Lacadives. They are the only professionally run dive shop there and under the leadership of Titiksh ensure you have the best experience whether you're doing a fun dive, DSD or any certificate course. It's a bonus that you get a drop and pick to the dive shop from the resort.

Just back from a trip to Andamans. We stayed at Big Tree Resort because we wanted to be close to Chidiya Tapu for the birding. We came back after 5 days because we loved our first stay so much. Rajendra was a warm and attentive host and the team was helpful without being in your face. The property is very green . There are 8 generously proportioned rooms with bathrooms , and the ones on top have a lovely balcony that gives you a canopy view. Wake up to birdsong every day - lovely beaches within walking distance, and diving at Chidya Tapu 5 mins away with a gorgeous sunset view. While a haven for divers , birdwatchers should check this place out too for the endemic birds specially. A special thanks to Rajindra for the early morning breakfasts at unearthly hours - including for the airport today morning! Very special place to stay.

This beautiful property is tucked away and borders a forest reserve. Big Tree is 40 mins away from Port Blair airport (heading south) and is the perfect place if you are looking to get away from the chaos of an ordinary city life. The entire property is lush green, has a pond and is surrounded by vegetation, ingredients (vegetables & fruits) that are grown on the property and are used to prepare fresh meals. We thoroughly enjoyed every meal that was served to us and loved spending time at the cafe where we could pet and cuddle Mowgli (the cutest, most intelligent black Labrador) who was such a darling to be around. On our first day he gave us a tour of the property and took us to the pond, he loves to play fetch with his frisbee and that kept my six year old engaged for hours (big plus!).
The cottages/rooms are very clean, spacious, well-lit and have a balcony where we spent time lounging and listening to birdsongs while watching the sun go down.
Diya who manages the property is a wonderful host who checked on us every single day and ensured we were comfortable and helped us organise our day trips around Port Blair and Chidiyatapu.
If you're looking to unwind, live the slow life (without the internet and connectivity) for a few days and marvel at the sights and sounds of nature then this is the perfect spot. We came here exactly for that and were more than pleased with our stay.

A trip to Chidiya Tapu will be incomplete without staying at Big Tree.
The rooms are airy, sunlit and cool. They are comfortable, clean and modern yet rustic. Hardly any plastic and all the eco-friendly substitutes were delightful. The bathrooms are lovely.
The food is fresh and delicious. The wonderful chefs will customize food portions and dishes for you and staff members are friendly and attentive. The dining area is beautiful, comfortable and ideal for making fun memories.
Momo the expert swimmer dog and Kutti the cat will make sure half your fatigue from diving is simply washed away with their friendliness. Rajendra has incredible stories to tell, music to play and is generous with recommendations for fun.
You will feel safe and relaxed. You will find company if you want, and solitude if you want. There is constant bird sounds and beautiful flora wherever you look. There's a personal pond! and a hut for yoga with a gorgeous scene.
If you still want wifi, it's available at the dining area.
The property is at a 10 minute walking distance from the lacadive centre.

I wanted a change of scene from the beaches after 5 days at havelock and chanced upon “The Big Tree Resort”. I loved that it’s surrounded by forest and was attached to the Lacadives centre incase we fancied one last dive. Since it came with no reviews online, I was quite apprehensive. I decided to take the plunge and listen to my gut. It was one of the best decisions of the trip. I was pleasantly surprised and so happy that my risk payed off. The property sits on 11 acres of land at the end of chidiyatapu, a short walk to the chota Balu beach and surrounded by lush forest. Right from their charming rooms, spacious beautifully done bathrooms, to the fresh water pond on the property everything was perfect. The interiors were not an after thought and done aesthetically. The love and care that goes into the property clearly shows through.
The constant sound of birds, beautifully tended plants added to the charm of the place. Though they offered fun activities like hiking, inter-tidal walks etc we opted to explore the property, swim in the pond, play some shuttle and spend time with their team. The review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning Momo their resident handsome Labrador who only cares about playing catch & their amazing team of people from the owner to the manager to the chef and others. Everybody was super friendly, went out of their way to make us feel comfortable, had delightful, insightful conversation with us and cooked the most delicious food. The big tree resort is perfect for divers, for a transit place before you head to the other islands, for bird watchers and those looking for some RnR. Don’t miss out on this beauty. It is a slice of heaven.

This resort checks all boxes, if you are looking for a place that's easily accessible, yet remote, this is it!
Rooms: the rooms are new and spacious, and the view is just spectacular. Food: Big Tree grows it's own organic food - which is delicious and healthy. They offer very good European, Chinese and Indian cuisines. Things to do: There is a beautiful yoga center on the property, you can do yoga watching the sunrise, meditate or just read in this beautiful space. There is also a pond close by which is perfect for an afternoon dip. Accessibility: Big Tree is is a 5 min walk away from the lacadives dive center.

Hospitality, hearty meals and the tranquility were the key standouts for me! Diya and Rajan are always around to make your experience super comfortable right from meals to the stay. Def worth a swim in the pond on the backside or a game of Badminton with The team. Chalets are cosy and very comfortable. Dive shop is a pleasant walk or a quick ride away and there’s always a ride available from the resort to the dive shop and back!!

My first visit to the beautiful Island , the Big Tree resort is located 40 minutes drive from the airport which is accessible any time , day and night no need for a ferry ! Set between the forest and the sea. Your choice of adventure starts the minute you arrive between forest walks or sea dives … or relax at the comfortable wooden cottages . When you have a Resort that is managed by adventurist dive master and the rest of the staff making you feel at home with the best of food and natural setting, this is the adventure you’re seeking go ahead take the dive 👌

Chidiyatapu tapu is just the ideal location for a weekend getaway or even longer if you like peace and quiet. Not only is this resort is set in a picturesque location but it also has all the modern day amenities for a comfortable holiday. There’s also a great diving site within walking distance called Lacadives. Definitely going back there as often as I can. The restaurant here also has some sensational food! Excited to share with you my new ‘happy place’. Words are not enough to express the mark this place @bigtreeresortandamans and the people here @luminousdeep have left on us, but it is surely something you should experience first hand when visiting #andamans #chidiyatapu
Located south of Port Blair airport, this place offers a very personal and peaceful time, away from the main city & touristy buzz (but if you still miss it, the city centre attractions - Cellular Jail, ferry to Ross island etc are only about 40mins drive).
The property has 4 beautiful wooden cottages, super spacious and comfortable. They have thought about the smallest details to make your stay wonderful (from the super huge comfy beds to the soft floorings to the high gabled roofs, I could surely stay here forever 😋 (Tip: Request for the upper floor room for a spectacular view and to see/ hear birds chirping with your morning coffee/ tea)
The property itself is quite huge and if you need a break from the beautiful beaches (again at walking distance) you can enjoy a short walk to their own pond at the back or even a swim in it. If you are lucky ‘Momo’ their handsome doggo may join you for a swim or a game a catch & throw. 🐶
Rest assured we were always in great company here and were overwhelmed by the hospitality Dia & Rajendra (manager) gave us. They & the staff really went out of their way to make our stay a super memorable one. The food here is lip-smacking btw!!
Also if you are an avid scuba diver or want to explore the world underwater @lacadives is hop skip jump. Again a must do!!
In all we loved our stay here and cannot wait to come back soon. Thank you @divershaiver for helping us with the bookings & make everything seamless. And Sumer our ‘Boss Man’ @luminousdeep for your gracious hospitality and lovely chats. You really made us feel at home and part of the fam jam!
