My aunt and I stayed for 3 nights at Pension de la Plage before moving on to another island. Very reasonable price, clean, good location and great food. They have a pool that is kept immaculately clean. Also, great snorkeling right across the road in...More
We stayed here in late April for 9 days as part of our world tour. The managers (Vincent and hiswife) manage a very well run facility. The rooms are very clean. The breakfasts are good and the small pool is great. The Pension is located...More

This pension is a haven from the traffic and bustle of Papeete. You have to cross a busy road to get to the beach, but it is excellent once you are there. Vincent was charming and helpful with arranging transfers, activities and car hire. The...More

When we visited Pension de la Plage Tahiti in December, 2016, transportation from airport to pension on arrival and pension to airport on departure was arranged by the pension. Not sure if it was included in basic room price or not. Generally, public transit in French Polynesia is unpredictable. If the bus is already full, it will drive past you and one never knows when the next one might come. Pension de la Plage is quite a distance from Papeete which is the main centre. On other Polynesian islands, hitch hiking is part of the culture and next vehicle to pass you will give you a ride. No one just drives by unless their vehicle is totally full. But, I don't recall seeing people hitch-hiking on Tahiti Island. Car rentals are expensive in Polynesia and be prepared to pay $100 per day. We rented a car for just three days on Tahiti and also rented on Bora Bora, Tahaa, Huahine and, Moorea. Find this to be good value. 4x4 excursions are available on all the islands, including Tahiti. Majority of times, one sees the back of a small truck with seats facing each other. So, you get a sore neck from twisting around to see the scenery but, what you see most is the people sitting across from you. Rental car, you have nice air conditioning and you go at your own pace with front window view.
