First, if you want to dive Rainbow Reef w/in 15 minutes of your resort, this is the place to stay. Second, the accommodations are excellent. Yes, you are across the road from the water, but you would never know it with the excellent layout of the resort and the brilliantly designed bures (individual units - no shared walls!). Dive guides and crew were top notch. Food could use an upgrade, just saying. That aside, truly a wonderful visit. Thank you to all!
The diving here is spectacular for both the hard and soft corals, the healthiest we have ever seen. We cannot recommend Taveuni Dive Resort more highly. The ownership, management, staff, and dive crew were wonderful, the manicured setting of the resort is stunning, and the food was over the top. The warmth and kindness of everyone associated with this resort comes through in everything they do for their dive customers. We will return!
Settle back; I have a lot to say about Taveuni Dive Resort, and it's all good. From the moment Carl and Dennis met me at the airport on Taveuni, I knew I had made a wise decision; the welcome was warm and genuine. I was travelling as a single, to dive the Rainbow Reef. see my separate review of the dive operation. Check-in was relaxed, at the Salty Fox bar and restaurant rather than in the office. Carl and Muriel made it very personable, and gave a brief rundown on how the resort "ran", covering diving, meals and features of our bures. And the bures were simply....sensational! Beautifully appointed, with a very comfortable king bed, huge rainfall shower and plenty of storage. Oh, and the view out to the Somosomo Straits was breathtaking. And housekeeping kept it spotless for the duration. Food was delicious, and I can honestly say I enjoyed evey meal I had during my stay. Chrissie (?) and her team in the kitchen served food that was freash, varied, and nicely presented. It was fun to order dinner at lunchtime, and lunch during breakfast to help the kitchen achieve great results! Chrissie told me one evening she cooked "with love" and it showed. (And her curries are fabulous!) The Salty Fox is well known for the pizza; I never got to have one, as the nightly specials were too good to resist. Katerina was a bright and happy face at breakfast, with coffee always ready, organizing our meals to ensure we had plenty of time to meet the dive boat, and doing amazing things turning all sorts of fruit into juice each morning. I wish I could bring her home with me! James and Emelia took over the restaurant and bar for lunch and dinner, and looked after all of us like we were royalty. Emelia has the most wonderful smile, and always worked hard to make sure all the guests were happy and relaxed. James played guitar and was the go-to man for all things cultural; he showed us how to make rings from coconut shell, and did walking tours of the magnificent gardens to show us some of the traditional plants used as medicines. His "fist-pump" was always wound up, ready to greet me! And Carl and Muriel are always handy, ready to organize sightseeing or experiences around Taveuni. (Sepo, the local taxi driver was great fun!) My dilemma in writing this review is that I have been unable to mention all the staff by name, and each and every one of them contributed to a great experience at TDR. They each have that true Fijian warmth, a smile and a laugh that just makes you happy to be there. It is the staff that make TDR such a special place, and saw me leave with great memories. So, I will have to return. Beyond mind-blowing diving, I just want to again immerse myself in the place, where guests are treated as friends, happiness comes at no extra charge, and that cheeky Fijian sense of fun is never too far away. Oh, and I have to try the pizza!! I have only 2 tips....go "all inclusive", and book now!…
My wife and I spent 10 days at Taveuni Dive Resort in April of 2022. What a fantastic place! The owners Carl and Muriel treated us like family. We felt so welcome! They really strive to make sure every guest is having the best experience. Since it was our anniversary, they went out of their way to create a romantic evening for us. They were thoughtful enough to set up a private table for us for dinner. Such a kind gesture. We loved it! We loved all the staff, too! They were so friendly and greeted us with a warm smile every day. You just won't find nicer people anywhere. The restaurant offered a variety of food choices each day, and the food was absolutely delicious! The traditional Kava ceremony that was performed after dinner one night was a nice surprise and a real treat. We loved the atmosphere in the restaurant/bar area. And they decorated our room with flowers to help celebrate our anniversary. Our bure (room) at the resort was beautiful. The room felt like it was all windows, letting us appreciate the beauty of Fiji no matter which way we looked. We had a gorgeous view of the ocean to greet us each morning. We had a large comfortable bed and tons of space. There was a handy scuba gear drying rack right out side our door, which we really appreciated. Even though the room was not air conditioned, the gentle breeze and ceiling fan kept us cool at night. The resort runs on solar power, which we really liked. The dedication of the owners to keeping their impact on the environment to a minimum was very admirable. And what can I say about the diving except - perfection! The boat captains and dive masters were all top notch. The dive boats weren't crowded, the dive locations were only a short ride away, and we always felt safe during dives. The reefs are beautiful, and with the sharp eyes of our dive masters we were able to find and photograph so many beautiful fish and creatures. We loved our time on the dive boats! All in all, I can't recommend Taveuni Dive Resort enough. If you are fortunate enough to be able to dive in Fiji, this is a great place to be! My wife and I hope to go back soon.…
We just returned from an outstanding two weeks at TDR. Everything exceeded our expectations. The diving may be the most memorable part of the visit, it was the reason for it to begin with, but the staff at TDR made it all the more special. The bures are clean, comfortable and spacious. The resort grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The food is plentiful, varied, fresh and flavorful. The resort team couldn't be friendlier. The diving is as good as we've ever seen. If you love coral and you love fish, you won't find healthier reefs anywhere. The dive team is passionate, capable and so much fun to dive with. We will be back in Fiji and back at TDR. Thank you so much for a great adventure.
We arranged a 3 week (long for us, but dying to dive after Covid lockdown for 2 years) dive trip to Taveuni Dive Resort (TDR) in December 2021. Fiji was chosen because of the 90% countrywide vaccination rate, and the Covid19 preparations and precautions which were put in place by the government and enacted by certified partners like TDR which included a Covid-safe travel bubble, fully immunised staff and rapid antigen testing 48 hrs after arrival. TDR was chosen because of the great time we had there on a previous trip and their proximity to the Rainbow Reef and in particular, the Great White Wall. The diving and resort experience were both amazing. We did 18 consecutive days of diving and never had a dive that wasn't excellent. We were able to visit the Great White Wall three times during the visit, twice when it was ''in bloom'' and once when it wasn't for comparison. Dive sites such as Nuku Reef, Yellow Tunnel and Cabbage Patch were absolutely incredible. The dive staff were skilled and knowledgable and were able to direct our attention us to both small, nearly invisible macro life and large pelagics and turtles in the blue. We saw manta rays, dolphins and pilot whales which ran with our boat on the surface. We hired much of our gear and all the hire gear were in good shape. The boats were well suited to diving. The on-shore resort experience was equally impressive. Muriel, Carl and their staff made the stay a genuine pleasure and looked after our every need. Laisa, the chef, prepared delicious original meals daily which were often tasty twists on traditional Fijian items including yummy creations like papaya soup among others. She also was able to prepare bespoke and delicious vegetarian meals for the vegetarian among us. All of the staff worked together to make our stay one we will always remember. The rooms, grounds and pool were beautiful and the latter particularly nice after a morning of diving. Like our previous trip, we also made great new friends among the staff, guests and owners. The sunsets were provided free of charge. <include one of Connies sunset shots here>' Thanks for the fantastic time Taveuni Dive Resort. We are 100% coming back! Soto Tale! Connie & Jim…
We spent 5 nights around new year's time, owners Carl and Muriel has opened there heart and made us feel part of TDR's family. Shawn has been a great host and together with Angel looked after all our needs. Diving with Angel was brilliant, safe and definitely gonna be memorable. Liasa is a great chef, food was delicious. And Elana gave great service with a smile. Rooms were super spacious and well equipped and designed, but most important, always clean. We're definitely back one day. Thank you TDR.
We were picked up from the aiport and taken the short journey to the resort. The check-in was informative and we were then shown to our beautiful bure which was spacious, clean and comfortable. The main area - pool, bar/restaurant were only a short walk from the bures. The food was just amazing with large portions and is very reasonably priced. We are qualified divers and did 4 dives with the dive team to the Rainbow Reef which is right on the doorstep. Good setup, thorough briefing and we felt very safe. Jerry was awesome! Being a PADI centre they also offer dive courses and intro dives, but its worth noting that you dont have to be a diver to enjoy this lovely resort as they also offer tours/day trips. Sadly we only had 3 nights here on this trip but we will be returning for a longer stay. It is definitely worth taking the extra 40 minute flight to Taveuni for some of the best diving in Fiji. Vinaka to the owners and their lovely staff for making our trip a memorable one - keep doing what you’re doing! …
It is the best in food ,service and room . It made my trip a special one for me and my partner as it accommodate us well in terms of food , best relaxing room and friendly staff & management. They have the best pizza in whole of Fiji. As every bite gives the heavenly taste and would enjoy it to every bit . The Best Taveuni Resort.
We went to Taveuni Dive Resort at a very unusual time, during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are no foreign tourists in Fiji, most hotels are closed. Fortunately, Taveuni Dive continues operation and with excellent quality. We loved everything! The place is very peaceful and calm. The room was excellent. The ferry we took from Savusavu to Taveuni was hopeless and arrived very late in the evening. It was really nice that the staff was waiting for us and suggested us a hot dinner. The food was excellent all the time. There are not many places in Taveuni where you can eat good food, and without any doubt, Taveuni Dive Resort is one of them. But first of all it is still a Dive Resort and we went there for diving. Rainbow Reef is so beautiful place, although it is not easy. At the resort, we received high-quality gear, very good diving program, qualified support from instructors, Jerry and Angel. We are new divers, our team included two 12 years old children, and support was very important for us. Special thanks to Jerry, who knows all about the Rainbow Reef and it’s currents. We had great time. Wonderful people work at the resort. My thanks to all - owners, management and staff. Thank you for a good stay! We will be happy to come again! …
