I stayed two nights in this Hotel in November 2004.
I got a room outside the main building, in a two story building close to a small shopping aera. The rooms are terrible, the color of the wall was peel off. The furniture was old, the TV reception was bad.
This rooms needs really a renovation.
In the main building there are one floor, where the rooms are renovated.
For the other floors they started the renovation.
The breakfast in the Hotel was o.k., the dinner was moderate.

Feel you come 40 years back in time, all furniture and batrooom equipment from 60;s/70's. With some upgrading and cleaning would it be a great Hotel. Reception staff was friendly. Food was ok, not mre than that, not a smile from the staff. A perfecy view of tge sea and entrance of the Suez Canal. Not sure how many stars they claim they has, standard isn't up to more than 1 star. Staff seems to not care, several pots with dear flowers in various areals.

Although it is too expensive (the most expensive hotel in Port Said) I wish there was another option to book for my business trip in different hotel.

To have a cup of green tea in the morning; you have to bring your own tea bag! And you might be lucky if the waiter brings you some hot water or he may not pay any attention to you. Actually, I do not understand how they choose their staff at this hotel. The waiter in the breakfast restaurant never smiles and does not even reply thanks. Just he lets you feel in the early morning like they are not happy to host you there!! Although it is relatively big restaurant where the breakfast is served, no area is really reserved for non-smokers. It is only one table marked so, however surrounded by smokers on the adjacent tables. The egg frying pan looks like never cleaned and also fresh eggs are not clean.

Bathroom mixers are too old and rusted in almost all rooms. The shower is very primitive and hard to manipulate. Sometimes you try to call home service and you receive no answer along one hour. And if the room service answers, then they may bring the tissues you request and may not.

Door lock chains are broken or to be broken in many rooms. To get a bottle of water; you pay EGP 25 instead of EGP 2.5 in the market. Very poor internet service and however too expensive (25EGP per hour).

Last time, the bathtub in my room was accumulating water and the room smells too bad like there was a rotting fish meal beneath the bed.
In all rooms you suffer a big noise coming from the plumbing system. All the time I hear the noise of water flow inside the pipes at night.

Really, I hate that I have to stay at this hotel because of my company agreement.

Great location, quiet spot relatively as it is away from the commercial passage and at few meter from the beach. Overlook the canal. If you like watching ship gazing then this must be your choice.
You can spend only few hours in a day use cabinets as well.

Hany Ahmed -general manager - welcomed us with fruit basket.

Not plenty of accommodation choices in the area. Port Said Hotel is from one of the best ones in the area. However if you compare this hotel with overall hotel ranking, can easily say that it is nothing really special but to be honest Port Said Hotel is acceptable. Do not have big expectations. It is next to Suez and have nice view.

When I was first told about my new assignment In Port Said, one of the first things I checked out online, was the hotel where I was told I would be staying. I was extremely delighted to find it was rated: 5 Stars with plenty of Amenities, such as:
• Pool
• Fitness Center / Gym
• Hot Tub
• Paid Wi-Fi
• Tennis Court
• Squash Courts
• Bowling

When I arrived and saw where I would be staying, I was in total shock. From the moment I stepped inside the front door, I noticed the surroundings were completely dated, as in 20-30 years old Decor. The Hotel Foyer was extremely dirty and the smell of dust was overwhelming. When I inquired about the above mentioned Amenities, I was told, all was under Maintenance and all would open within weeks. The Concierge then showed me to my room………OMG…… is an understatement!!! The rooms smelled of Dampness / Dust. The Carpets were walking with the dirt, and in General the conditions were very bad.

The Insulation Properties of the Windows is non-existent. As when it is windy, the noise or whistles that project thru in to the room, make for Sleepless nights. Not even going to mention when it rains……. Every Thursday / Friday nights, Weddings take place in the Hotel, which in general is nice to see and to experience a different culture celebrate in their own way. But if you’re staying in a room at the front of the hotel, you’re are definitely in for a culture shock, due the lack of Sound proofing in the windows. The noise of singing, cars blowing their horns, boy racers on the main road outside, again is overwhelming.

Over the course of my Stay in Port Said Hotel, both myself and a lot of my Colleagues noticed money & Duty Free items go missing form our ‘cozy’ little rooms. Our complaints to Hotel Management fell on deaf ears. Now I don’t want to Tar all the staff working there with the same brush, as there are Genuine Hard working people there, but I have also experienced the dark side …… Some of The Men working in the Lobby Bar are driven only by money. I also experienced additional items being put on my hotel account even after signing the dockets.
The Service in the Hotel is Generally Very Bad, with Customer Service / Customer Comfort at the bottom of the list, and the Locals who are working there, have very Basic English. The food often comes cold, and in 4/10 cases, is the wrong order. As like a lot of people, I enjoy a few cold beers after work, and when I arrived there, early 2017, the price of a ‘can’ not even draft was EGP 55. When I left, the price was at EGP 90. This is only one aspect, an
d just shows the mentality of the Manager and his pure greed, driven by money.
All of the above is from my actual experience staying in the hotel for a period of 2½ years, and of course my own opinion. I can relate to all the Bad reviews posted about The Port Said Hotel, but in fairness those that posted good reviews about this kip, need their heads examined.

By the way, The Amenities that were under maintenance when I originally arrived, are still is the same state…NON EXISTENT ……….. 5 STARS…I DONT THINK SO...........

Ill start with the room;
General condition of most rooms are poor, carpets wrinkled and dirty, paint is coming off the walls, balcony's never cleaned if you have a room with one, pillows more like rocks & bad smells are in most of the rooms.
In my current room i'm lucky enough to have a fridge which smells of urine, not entirely sure if it could be human or from someones pet.
Due to the noise outside, constant horns from cars and fireworks until approximately 2am everyday, a good sleep is not something to expect at this hotel.
While the noise will never stop, it can be seen the hotel have never spent any thought or money to improve the windows to increase sound proofing.

Food,
At breakfast you can receive a good omelette and selection of local foods on top. It should be highlighted that if you require any food prepared such as eggs, you are more than likely going to hunt for the hotel staff to find there sleeping place then wake them up.
It should be noted this hiding place changes, as waking them up before 7am is not always appreciated, you could be lulled into thinking after some weeks the staff are actually paid to sleep.
For dinner, there are many good options in Port Said serving fresh food and served in a timely manner, the Port Said Hotel is not one of them.

General service,
I have noted on many occasions the hotel caters to the request of local guest to change the TV channels and the language regardless of who or how many people may be watching something, this is not a service which is offered to foreign guests. I was kindly reminded i'm a visitor to country.

Internet,
The hotel provide a free internet service for one device only, this needs to be renewed everyday and the service is painfully slow.
A second password can be provided but only at cost, roughly 300 pounds per day, approx 30 euros.
Its cheaper to walk along to Vodafone and get 3G internet for 60 euros for one month which is about 10x faster than the hotel internet.

Finally, it should be noted that the hotel do not allow anyone from any nationality to share a room with a woman, can be an issue for non Egyptians when having visitors from other country.

In short, stay in the Resta Hotel or plan to return to Cairo same day.

Value for money... find a better one, this was not worth even half the fee.
Fortunately I did not have time to test the food.
Internet connection was average, for the password, someone had to go to the bar, or restaurant to bring it, the reception desk could not handle this heavy burden, so that when going up to have everything needed.
Cleanliness... others before me said it, some things were looking dirty, in disrepair and like no one cares for the hotel. However the bed and chairs did not look dirty.
No drinking water available, no hot water kettle, but there was a nice LCD tv set, for what purpose, I have no idea, didn't bother to switch on, to see if anything on tv.
There was a wedding in the restaurant, a lot of noise and the windows with a single sheet of glass, no soundproofing at all. The same noise on the corridors, people moving around a lot and talking loudly at night.
If I ever go to Egypt (hopefully not) and reach Port Said, I'll refuse this hotel.
They should do a better job, but looking around the country, everywhere is the same, there are good things and things that should be taken care of.
Egypt used to be better,,,
