I stayed in the Sun and Moon (Tower) suite. Very unusual and distinctive, with two patios (three, if you are brave enough to climb the outside ladder to the top tower (I was not)). Scrupulously clean, good hot water, everything worked. Other positives: good strong modern air conditioning (which helped in 32 degree weather with 80% humidity!) ... a good breakfast (local fruit +eggs + bread + coffee) included in the price ... Host Gianna is exceptionally knowledgeable and helpful, arranging a private taxi tour of the Tortoise reserve (at half the Viator price!) and offering to arrange a discounted taxi to the airport ... well maintained swimming pool (again, 32 degrees!) ... easy walking distance to Darwin Centre and Tortoise Tour (Lonesome George!) Negatives (mostly nits): internet is not strong anywhere in the Galapagos, and Fortaleza is no exception. Had to leave room and come to common area for stronger signal ... Fortaleza is not right downtown, but only a 10-15 minute walk from the port. This is both a positive and a negative, as you are out of the late-night noise (though Puerto Ayora's nightlife was not that crazy when I was there On the whole, highly recommended (particularly the Tower Suite)

Fortaleza de Haro is a lovely place to stay if you want somewhere to relax by the pool in the afternoons. It's around a 10 minute walk to the front and Giana and Roberto were kind and responsive hosts.

Great location, quiet but only 10 minute walk to the main drag with restaurants etc. Really welcoming from Roberto and the team. We had the turret room which was fab, with 2 patio areas. Air con was needed and worked well. Breakfast simple, filling and delicious. Only downside is WiFi if you must have it... Although we were told elsewhere that the whole area had poor signal for the 4 days we were there and normally it's better. Did the boat trip, was good value for money.

This is such a unique and peaceful place in Puerto Ayora. The service was great and breakfast was delicious. Roberto is an awesome host/owner and speaks English very well. The pool was refreshing. The hotel is very clean. The triple room was lovely, and comfy with great shower and plenty of storage space and it did feel like staying in a castle. We joked that we were in maid chamber room looking up to the castle tower where the bigger rooms are. We met other friendly travelers with interesting stories here too. There is a second floor open space to chill with hammocks, board games and a great view of the castle. Filter water is provided which is great because water bottles costs about $2. It is a thoughtfully built hotel. Breakfast was freshly made daily and the freshly baked bread was simply amazing. The only issue we had was wifi which was impossible to connect to and I just gave up. It was about 10min walk to restaurants through a nice residential neighborhood. We usually walked to town and took a $2 taxi back. I'd stay here again.

Fantastic experience, what it feels like being a guest rather than a customer. The owners are obviously living a dream, staying at the Fort made me and my two young boys ride along for a few days. Thank you!

Rooms were basic but clean. What stood out for us for us was the amazing host (Jana) who did everything to make sure our stay was as enjoyable as possible (helped us plan an itinerary on arrival, gave us suncream guests had left in the room, organised taxis, etc). Breakfast was great too. We really liked the location, very close to town but also far enough out to have some peace and quiet. Thanks for an amazing stay!

La Fortaleza de Haro is a fantastic place to stay! It was clean, within walking distance to town, had a wonderful breakfast every morning, and is owned by the friendliest and most welcoming people, Roberto and Gianna. The hotel is right next to the national park (Charles Darwin Research Center), so it’s very quiet and a relaxing place to hang out.

This was our anniversary trip. Such an amazing place to spend a romantic getaway! We stayed for two wonderful nights in tower suite and had been taken care of in the best possible way. Gianna and Roberto the owners, live on the property and always available to answer to any of your needs. The kindest, warm-hearted people! The communication was very easy via WhatsApp. They meet you up on arrival. Gianna recommends the best way to spend your time. We followed all her suggestions, including Glass Bottom Boat tour to Las Grietas , and had the best time in our lives. When she learned it was our anniversary, she made a beautiful flower and towels arrangements on our bed. Delicious breakfast every morning! Roberto is a very knowledgeable tour guide, he took us to the best snorkeling places and told stories about island. They speak both Spanish and English. We felt like home and could not wish for a better stay.

We stayed here for 4 nights and all the activities were also arranged for us. Hosts Gianni and Roberto are super hospitable and are always up for a chat. The stay was very nice in a beautiful castle within walking distance of the lively promenade. The accompanying tours were very cool and showed us all the beauty of Galapagos. All in all, definitely recommended!
