this emblematic hostel in the history of tourism of the Galapagos Islands, this small hostel has a privileged central location to move everywhere, its prices are very comfortable for its travelers, the service is very cordial and friendly, its facilities are in good condition, highly recommended!
I was lucky to spend a month in this fantastic hostel. Priscila, Jorge, Fabian sand Julie were all so kind and welcoming as well as provided information of everything about the Galapagos. The location could not have been better and the hostel itself was very comfortable. I am looking forward to visiting again in the future
We arrived Without reservation and it was not a problem. We had two nice room with hot water and air con. The price was good for the quality of the rooms. Note that the rooms at the front are better than in the back...
The staff is really friendly and ready to help the guests. The rooms were clean and comfortable. There is also an outside commom area with hammocks, which is quite nice. The location is very good, almost on the corner with Charles Darwin Avenue, where all the souvenirs stores and good restaurantes are located. Just two blocks from the hostal, there is also a good street to eat "meriendas" for 5USD at lunch and a variety of seafood (specially fresh lobsters) at dinner in some tables in the middle of the street. Really nice.
We didn't have any reservations when arriving at Santa Cruz. Darwin hostel was price/quality for us the best option. Wifi is not always available, but the room is very clean, the beds are comfi and there's a nice place to hang out.
When we walked in, they noted they had wifi, AC, and hot water. When we checked in a couple days later, their wifi was broken and AC did not work. Not a huge issue since we were there for only one night and it was not super hot. We had a drunk guy break into our room around 11:30 PM on New Years Eve. We screamed and then guy left. We went out and the owner said they did not know that our room was occupied and gave the guy the wrong key. They were not apologetic and we demanded that the police came. The police came and spoke with the owners and we ended up staying the night and the owners promised to give us our money back. We woke up the next morning to get our refund and there was no one at the front desk. We came back a couple days later and they refused to give it back. There are two owners and the receptionist and 2nd owner did not speak english and refused to say that the breakin was unacceptable even after we found our own translator. DO NOT STAY. To be honest, I have stayed in countless hostels over the past 4 years and this was the worst ever. Their checkin system is on a notebook so no wonder they did not know which room was taken.…
I staid at this place last week. It's a pretty good place WiFi is a bit slow, showers can be hot but for the most part they are not the room and area was very clean. It's located really close to the dock too.
These guys are not professionals. I made a reservation onsite a couple of days before I wanted to stay in the hostel (later that day I went to Isabela island and wanted to have my stay arranged for my return). Surprisingly, when I came to pick up the keys 2 days later, they said that they didn’t have a room for me. Very disappointing.
+Great location, not far from the pier. +The owners are very welcoming, friendly, helpful and trustworthy! They also have a travel agency where you can book everything. +Some rooms are very simple and a bit old but very clean and spacious. Showers worked very well. They have a few new rooms (most with air con) which looked nice. We didn't have any bugs in our room :) Rooms cleaned daily. +Street full of restaurants just 1-2 blocks away (meals for 4$). We paid 30$/night for a double room with fan (the one with air con would hVe been 35-40$). Do not book in advance with Booking.com; you will end up paying more. I would stay here again. Accomodation in Santa Cruz tends to be expensive or if you find something cheap it is quite far from the center. Hostel Darwin, being conveniently located, offers also good prices!…
The family who run the hostel have been in the galapagos ever since it was colonised 100 years ago so they can tell you lots about the history. Jorge, his wife and daughter we really friendly and welcoming. We had the private double room 2 and it was very clean. There was a fan to keep cool. The shower had good pressure and was hot. The family kindly let us use cutlery in the kitchen for sandwiches and fruit etc... There arent many places in Santa Cruz where you can use the kitchen! Jorge booked our boats to Isabela and Sam Cristobal - its so useful to have the travel agency on site. Good wifi too. This was our favourite hostel on the galapagos.
