Stayed here in Feruary 2020 as part of a Galapogos trip. The hotel is very nice and modern. Very clean and the staff is very friendly and accomidating. The manager Wendy was a pleasure. We did not spend much time at the resort because it was further away from the town. have to take a water taxi to get to the hotel. However the sister property Hotel Solymar was in a much better location and we spent more time there eating dinner and having drinks. Palo Santo is more secluded and private if thats what you are looking for. Both are managed by Wendy and offer great service.
One thing to keep in mind is this is a non-chain hotel in a developing country, so the standards will be different than say a Marriott on the mainland in a large city. There are some quirks and such that may seem less than what you are used to, but this is a very nice and affordable hotel with great views, especially on higher floors. The staff is very friendly, attentive and helpful. Whenever we had question about the airport and travel they did their best to answer those questions. They helped with all our luggage (we were two couples). They arranged transportation to and from the airport and meeting up with our boat cruise. The rooms were clean with great balconies and good A/C. Note that the rooms in the second building can have a bit of smell from plumbing. The plumbing in the country is not what we're used to in the US, so on our second visit they moved us to the main building. But, if you keep the bathroom door closed and the fan on a higher setting it's manageable. The breakfast service was nice. The pool was refreshing. Alcoholic drinks were not cheap, so be aware of that. Alcoholic drinks on the island in general were pricey. I did read the very negative review. I understand some of the criticism, but again I point out this is not the US and this is also an island in a developing country. Complaining about the pathway to the hotel is petty and silly. The hotel has nothing to do with that. Take a look at where this hotel is, look around the city, the roads are not perfect. This is in the tropics and things are just different. If you expect a immaculate, perfect sterile hotel, stay at a big chain in the US. Sorry, but this is just how it is. I would stay at this hotel again and recommend it to others. I have traveled a lot to both modern, Western countries and developing countries. Things are always a little different in the tropics and developing countries, unless you stay at a 5 star, $600+ a night type place.…
In Galapagos there are very few good hotels...the Palo Santo is an exceptional hotel. This is a new hotel with excellent staff, facilities and restaurant. It location next to the beach makes it out first choice it is like hotel Finch Bay Hotel and Solymar Hotel...but more secluded from the hassle of the traveling public. The hotel has excellent internet connection and very large pool. Highly recommended by us.
This was our next stop after staying at Isabela Island so any hotel is an upgrade to the more rustic hotels there. The location is great with easy water taxi ride into the city center without staying among the hustle and bustle. Las Grietas swimming is an easy walk. The rooms were nice but a bit worn for a hotel as new as this. While our room had great water temp and pressure, others in our group had trouble getting enough hot water. The pool is very nice to have and deck is a beautiful place to sit outside. Odd that in a eco friendly location the rooms had nowhere to hang towels so they can be reused. Breakfast was great with eggs, lots of fruit options, cereals and bread and jams. Staff was helpful and friendly.
We came this year, end of october, begin of november to Santa Cruz Island. Staying for 4 nights, having some trips around the island. This hotel is not very new, but everything is ok and we don't had anything to complain. The stuff is very friendly and tried everytime we needed somrthing to help. The room was clean, but there was a strange smell the first 3 days. I think this came from the aircondition?! Should be cleaned and desinfected! The stuff understood English, but didn't speak it very well, but they tried!! There is 2-3 minutes walk to the Finch bay, where you can do a swim in the sea, a little longer you come to "Las Grietas". I haven't been there, but it should be very nice! Also for swimming! We recommand this hotel in every way! Thanks a lot for the pleasant stay!
Not sure when there pics on booking.com,... were taken but has nothing to do with the current shape of the hotel (see pics). location is ervything else but nice - little & dark path to the hotel and the surrounding looks like a dumping ground. the pool is in ruinous condition - 1 of our kids was seriously insured by loose tiles in the pool. dangerous electrical installation everywhere (see pics). nothing we would recommend at all.
Well kept and new hotel, large and comfortable rooms, big bed, big bathroom and shower, nice view, good buffet breakfast. Helpful personnel. All needed services ( laundry, free WiFi , water taxi for Puerto Ayora). Large swimming pool and resting area. Good restaurant . Close to incredible nice beach las grietas . Birds, fishes, ducks. Really comfortable, elegant and value for money.
Our study abroad group was booked for this lovely hotel. The property is lovely and although it is not a beachfront property, the Pacific is visible over the treeline. A small and uncrowded beach is within an easy 5 minute stroll. The hotel was clean and had excellent working air conditioning, which isn't often available in Galapagos. Breakfast was filling and service was fantastic. This was definitely a treat in the middle of our trip. One thing travelers should note is you do have to take a water taxi to access the location. Also, there is a brief walk from the water taxi dock to the hotel and some of the walkway is a bit rough. Even with this, I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Beautiful rooms with amazing views. Staff was friendly, helpful, and the food was amazing. Close to beautiful natural features (beach and lagoon in a volcanic fissure) and relaxing restaurants. A short walk to the dock gave you easy access to all the Galapagos has to offer! I visited as part of an EF student tour group, but I hope I will be able to visit again with my family!
We spent four nights in this beautiful boutique hotel in an amazing room with a view of the ocean and overlooking the pool. The staff at this hotel were amazingly efficient and friendly. Consuelo and Julie are there to meet all your needs and help with tours. The water taxi is part of the charm.
