If you need a place for a couple of days in San Cristóbal Galapagos then Hotel Los Algarrobos will definitely suffice. The room was an ok size, they had AC, a rooftop with a distant view of the water and a pretty decent breakfast. Overall I'd say it's basic but for the 2 days prior to my cruise it was good. The location is walkable (or a $2 taxi) from the airport and about 3 blocks to the water. Within 10 minutes you can walk just about the whole port area.
Much of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno and the town’s noticeably slower pace of life compared with Santa Cruz’s Puerto Ayora is within easy walking distance of this hotel. Access to the its nicely decorated rooms is via inside hallways.
Barely 3 stars even though they put four stars on top of the sign. Very sparse breakfast, and not good at all. Small bathrooms with very old fiture, nut water runs well. Hotel staff does not speak english and not very helpful, refused to help two women with their luggage at check out. Location is fine, everything is very close
I actually stayed one of the three scheduled nights, but it was because the first two nights they decided to give my reservation to a group of tourists, even though they had charged me half (they insist they tried to contact me), but they relocated me in another hostel (I have recognize their help with this). However I can suggest certain things to improve in the service. The day of my departure I had to take an early boat, so I had to check out at 6:30am, and I would have appreciated that the breakfast (which was already included) would be given to me at 6 am, and in case of not being able to do so I consider that It is possible for them to deliver a lunch box for the road, taking into account that I was with small children. The rooms are not bad, I can't complain, but I would look for another option on the island for my stay.…
To be in Galapagos, with the logical constrains there is here, this is a very nice hotel. It is comfortable, clean and very well located. Front desk is open all day and offers water and coffee free of charge. There are two main streets in front of this hotel and therefore some noise late at night and very early in the morning. This is particularly a problem in rooms in the front.
We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. Hotel location is good, few minutes walking from the promenade and town centre. Room was spacious but rather basic. Shower was broken but repaired promptly after reporting. Staf very friendly but with limited English. It helps a lot if you speak some Spanish. Breakfast good but no thrills. Overall impression was ok and if you are nof very fussy it would do for few days staying in San Cristobal.
I was GRANDPAcking through the Galapagos. I decided to pay more than usual and booked the Algarrobos for 2 nights. I went to reception and waited 1/2 an hour ringing the bell every 5 minutes. Nobody came … so I gave in and booked online (which meant that I had to pay the 12% ‘tax’). I booked a Double Room at a discounted rate of $26.50 / night (single occupancy). It came with Cable TV (2-3 English Speaking channels), a small fridge, and a chest of drawers for your clothes. And, there was plenty of water pressure and hot water in the shower. They had meal options available: Breakfast $5, Lunch $10, and Dinner $15. I didn’t take up any meal options. One of the reasons why I chose the Algarrobos (and paid a bit extra) was that it advertised good internet. I shouldn’t have bothered … I don’t even know why they bothered to give me the internet password … for almost all of the time that I was there, there was ‘no internet access’. If we did get internet access it was in the early hours of the morning when text-based emails might be able to get down the line to your computer. In the end, I had to buy 2GB more data on my smartphone (for $10) so that I could get online and do some work.…
We stayed 3 nights in this hotel. Since we are frequently traveling we staid in many hotels however this one was the first where absolutely nobody managed the reception desk. We literally had to check in by grabbing the keys to our room ourselves. We only met somebody from the hotel by chance on the second night when we also had the chance to pay for the hotel. Nobody seemed to really care. The room itself was clean and okay overall. Location is excellent not far from the harbor and restaurant area if the town. Lastly we have to mentioned the breakfast which gets served in a very old building next door to the hotel which actually looks closed and pretty run down. A perfect fit to the quality of food being served. Very poor. :( you can choose from one of four breakfast options. None of them worth a try. Our recommendation is skipping breakfast there to go for nicer locations in town. …
Good location, one block to the Main Street / pier area. Some of the rooms here are definitely nicer than others. Some people in our group had spacious rooms, our room was behind the front desk area, small with a bathroom - and room only for a twin bed & a full bed with a little table between. Breakfast was just ok, not much to choose from. We were told they served until 9:00 am, but at 8:30 they were breaking it down. Others came in for breakfast and were only able to get coffee.
Comfortable beds, reasonably hot water and reasonable prices make this hostal/hotel worth the 10 minute walk from the pier. Rooms can get a bit noisy for light sleepers. Breakfast is ultra basic but if you are leaving on a tour earlier than their breakfast hour, you should have luck getting them to open early for you [or make you sandwiches]. Friendly staff [who usually disappear in the afternoon] try their hardest to fulfill requests. If a room type is super important to you, you may wish to contact them in advance – we had an in explicable unavailability upon arrival.
