The Don Jorge cabins are located on San Cristobal Island, and take their name from "Don Jorge", a pioneer in building the first ecological cabins on the Galapagos Islands since 1978. Our Cabins are characterized by being in a privileged location and surrounded by the island's vegetation. The cabins are built on volcanic rock and enjoy a spectacular ocean view that makes every guest feel the mystical connection between man and nature. The total capacity of our cabins is 16 guests, distributed among 5 cabins. Any cabins have a kitchen with a a refrigerator included a private bath (hot shower), and cable TV. We also have a restaurant service

Myself & my friend stayed at 'Cabanas Don Jorge' in 'Cabana Fernandina' for three nights. It's basic accomodation, but has eveything you need (comfortable bed, bathroom, air conditioning, cooker, fridge & a lovely wee porch). It's situated in a great location. Playa Mann is a lovely beach & is pretty much just across the road. You can hire bikes, which I'd definitely recommend, as it's a good way to get about & to see the Island. Maria the manageress is very sweet, knowledgeable about the area & helpful. Maria provided us with a really useful guide about the tides & places of interest to visit. I'd highly recommend staying here. :-)

I wanted to write the review as all the reviews on here are old so I thought it was important to give an update on these Cabanas. We stayed for 3 nights in Jul'17 with our two teenage children. I think like most things you get what you pay for and it was very reasonably priced considering there were 4 of us. We were however all in one room which although not ideal made it good value for money. The bathroom was tiny and basic but functional. It had a separate kitchen with portable gas rings and was basic but adequately kitted out. The views from the kitchen were stunning. I saw no roaches or any other insects. Everything was clean. It is very well located near Playa Mann beach and still close enough to walk into town. I certainly wouldn't let the other reviews put me off staying here. Just on the corner of the Cabanas is a guy who can help you organise tours. He was great and really helpful.

We had a very nice first impression when arriving in the morning, but this quickly changed when we got to our Hut after dinner and realised it was full of insects, roaches inside the bed, red ants in the shower... We are not fussy for these things, especially after travelling quite a bit around the globe, but this was just too many creepy crawlers everywhere! We actually booked three huts (3x2 people) but ended up all packed into one due to this issue. We friendly explained our encounter to the owner the following day but she did not provide any solution nor refund (even though we were using 1 Hut instead of the 3 initially booked and paid for upfront!). Breakfast is good, but the earliest you can get it is 7am (a bit tight considering the excursion schedules in the Galápagos). We finally left the place and found another one in much better shape, cleaner and for a lower price! This place needs a strong uplifting! Such as shame, as the location is nice and quite.

We had a very nice stay in the cabana, a cute and a lovely room! Our hosts were awaiting us at the airport and took great care of us during the whole duration. Fernando took the opportunity and gave us a lot of tips and details for exploring the island. The cabana is near the beach and about 5 minutes from the town center. We would have loved to stay longer! Thank you very much!

Booked this hotel because it was very recommended by a friend. Went with my wife and took the small cabin at the top (there are 2 cabins up there). It is very rustic, clean, and well located. We had a great deck were we had some drinks and watch the sunset. The room was small, but ok. The bathroom was alright and clean. Everyday the staff cleaned our room. The staff was very nice and helpful in every possible way. They even helped us with mosquito repellent when we didn't have. They sell beers and sodas in the lobby, and even rent bikes and kayaks. I'm giving it 2 stars because it is totally unacceptable to have a cockroaches every single night in your room, and worst, to wake up because a cockroach is walking on your leg!! The cabins are in kind of a forest, but hell no!! (Actually I never told them about this incident. Maybe if I did, it would have been a one night incident and wouldn't have woken up with the bug on my leg the last night). The staff should immediately solve this out. We paid $100 per night, not cheap for where we were. Another downsides: They have free wifi, but it is very slow. Bed is small. I seriously hope this bug issue gets solved, because it's a great, comfortable place, a little bit rundown, with a lot of potential, but until it is solved, there is no way I will return.

First impressions: excellent location only minutes from the Malecon, right across the street from Playa Mann beach and very close to Punta Carola beach and the park entrance. Nice staff on hand, Luis is very helpful. Downsides: The cabanas are rather run down. Not exactly comfort, bugs everywhere (small ants, flies, minor annoyances), no hot water in the shower. Not all units have air conditioning. Definitely not luxury conditions. Also kitchen is provided but the market is pretty far, so if you're only staying for a few days to be honest it's not worth having. There is a refrigerator, microwave (in the main office), stove, etc. Upsides: The wi-fi is quite strong. Very close to everything, nice people run the property. Very quiet and private, and owners give great tips to finding everything.

My parents and I stayed here for 3 nights and I only wished we stayed here longer! We arrived early and only had to wait a few moments before our room was ready for us. It was clean, orderly, well equipped, and had a gorgeous view of Mann Beach. The staff is super friendly and is always available when you need anything from information, a cold beer, or a tab of butter :-) The kitchen was so nice to have. We spent all three nights in to cook and saved a lot of money that way. This is highly highly recommended! Just make sure to bring plenty of cash!!! They don't accept credit cards.

Today is our sixth and final day at the Cabanas Don Jorge, and I am writing this from our semi-private terrace (shared with one other cabin, currently empty) under the flame trees. It's the perfect location if you do not require luxury accommodations, but do want privacy, space, quiet, and a natural setting. The cabanas are clearly a labor of love for the family that owns them. Built on what was originally a hill of bare lava boulders, the concrete paths leading to each cabana now weave through lovely gardens of aloes, cacti, and flowering trees. After being squeezed into small hotel rooms on Santa Cruz and Isabela, we are enjoying the space provided by our cabana (the largest one), with indoor and outdoor dining areas, a kitchen with a sink, refrigerator, and three-burner propane stove, and a large sleeping area upstairs that could sleep a large family (although it's just the two of us). Again, the accommodate are best described as rustic rather than luxurious, more like a well-maintained camp in the Maine woods than a new hotel. But everything is clean and in good repair, from pretty tiles floors to freshly painted walls. The electric hot water heater worked properly (if anything, a bit too hot). Not much water flow, but enough to do the job and appropriate to the need to preserve fresh water on an island where fresh water is scare. The wi-fi worked fine for us, as reliable as anywhere else on the islands, if not more so. Finally, the owners are extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast (optional for an additional) price) was excellent (yogurt, granola, juice, fruit, eggs) and served on small tables in the front of the owners home (another large cabana), so it is rather like dining with the family. All in all we have enjoyed our stay very much and would recommend it to any laid-back eco-traveler.

I spent 3 nights in the cabana closest to the beach. The cabana has a separate bedroom, well stocked kitchen (fridge, stove, most utensils, pots and pans), separate bathroom with hot water and a hammock out the front which is perfect for relaxing. You can hear the sea lions all through the day and night as the cabin is only around 50 metres to the beach and short walk to the Galapagos Interpretatation centre. Would recommend this place for someone who plans on cooking for themselves or for someone who plans on spending alot of time on the beach. I would not recommend this place for someone expecting luxury.
