people were smoking throughout including in the lifts, at the breakfast buffet and in the corridors. right next to the no smoking signs! we asked a member of staff who told us it was fine. the restaurant manager stood behind our table doing big hawking noises throughout breakfast. all pretty standard for low-grade chinese hotels but the dirty carpets and...

The staff has so little knowledge of English for such a big hotel. We managed to let them know we needed a taxi to the airport and they called, everything fine. The room was huge, so was the bed. There's a desk, fax, armchair, etc. Very comfortable and cosy. Looked luxurious. The bathroom has both shower and a bathtub, though...

The hotel looked nice from the outside but was a disappointment. Our room was 30 degrees and we couldn't get the air conditioning to work. We went down to reception to ask for help to use it and the receptionist had to get her manager as she didn't speak much English. The manager was rude and told us that the...

We senior citizen couple arrived at the hotel at 10.30 pm. The hotel looked very impressive on the outside. The air conditioning and the fridge in the room not working. Nobody speaks or understands english. Requested a vegetable dish in the restaurant but what we got was not worth eating. All in all a very disappointing stay.

Is it wonderfull? No. Is it really bad? No Would I return to this hotel? Not necesseraly. If we have to stay here; it's ok. That's about the best way I can describe the experience of staying in the Yungang Jianguo. + friendly staff at reception +/- very, very, very extensive breakfast. There's even popcorn and ice-cream to go with...

Stayed only one night but found my room spacious with city views and swish looking bathroom. This hotel was luxury plus compared to previous hotels I had stayed in during time in China. Enjoyed both the buffet dinner and breakfast at this hotel. After breakfast enjoyed listening to the water fountain out the front performing to the music! An enjoyable...

We stayed just one night in Datong, to go to the Hanging Temple and the Grottoes. This is a western style hotel with large rooms. The carpet showed wear but everything else was spotless. The beds were very comfortable. We paid a rate that included the breakfast buffet which was HUGE! There must have been at least 200 options, plus...

Unbelievably huge rooms (Just the bathrooms were larger than some rooms I've stayed in before) and clean as a whistle. Free wife in room. Not far from the rebuilt ancient city wall. Con is that not too many shops/restaurants in immediate vicinity.

A very good value hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable. We booked our room through C-trip and paid only 295 each. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Dinner and breakfast buffet is good enough. Only downside is that you have to walk out of the building to the gym, and the gym is very very quiet (I guess that is good...
