After 4 weeks in China and good hotels all the way we were given a reality check here. From the road it looks grand. A beautiful garden and statutes out front. We entered our room to find dirty carpet and chairs, a mouldy bathroom that made you feel sick and plugs, jug and safe not working. To their credit we...

The Datong Grand Hotel is no longer a member of the IHG group, this occurred fairly recently so the rooms are still fairly decent Holiday Inn standard but the service is definitely on the poor side. Breakfast is very oriented to Chinese visitors (which is of course fine, just not the best for me personally). Very little English is spoken...

The hotel is starting to look run down with some parts now looking unused. Not the standard it claims to be. Wifi is poor and can't get it in the room. Bar closes early and we couldn't get a drink after 10 which isn't very good given we were on our annual holiday so wanted to enjoy ourselves. Breakfast is...

We spent one night at the hotel. We found the rooms spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately the wifi was very slow or not working properly. What we didn't like was that we had to pay a deposit for the minibar, then later, the restaurant of the hotel refused to charge the cost of our meals on the room and they requested that...

this hotel looks just like every chinese hotel, big lobby, huge dining room but the beds are very nice. Just pleasant , big double bed, with crispy white douvet couver. Just enough for one or two nights. Rooms are not small. Western breakfast is ok.

Having been at many Holiday inns worldwide, this location is substandard. Although the room was clean and met cut. The food during breakfast was far from what we were used to, many of the dishes were empty and the people in charge did not seem to care much. We were deeply disappointed and would not recommend this location and would...

For starters, this hotel is no longer part of the HG chain. The hotel kept the name Holiday Inn but in fact no part. All services in this hotel are bad: no internet correct internet connection by cable or wireless; during my first night, part of my bedroom ceiling collapsed following a water leak. I had to ask to change...

Stayed 2 nights. Facilities are very good and the room was very nice - spacious, clean and with all the amenities you could want. Most of the staff do not speak much english. We had a late train out of Datong and they kindly let us use a room for a few hours (for a small charge)while we waited as...

It is a nice hotel, it is not a 5* but still nice. The rooms are good and big with plenty of space for an extra bed. The breakfast is ok and the location is fine, just 3 blocks of the old city south gate. It is a good value for the money.
