This is a lovely hotel situated quite centrally in Harbin, at the start of XiDaZhi jie. I've stayed in this hotel twice, and enjoyed it both times, and have also dined in the restaurant multiple times for a treat. The food in the restaurant is some of the best in Harbin, amazing taste.

Went to Harbin for the Ice Festival and decided to stay at the Harbin International Hotel because of its location and the fact that it was built by the Russians. Very accommodating staff. Room was a good size and pleasant enough for our 3 day stay. Good Hotel but suggest that its 4 star rating is starting to wear thin.... More

The hotel is full of Art Deco charm and close to the railway station. The places of interest are a short taxi ride away which wasn't a problem in the summer. The room was comfortable with soft pillows and an okay bathroom. Very friendly staff and always seemed to be one available who spoke enough English to help.

Looking at the reviews of this hotel and visiting Harbin last week, i decided to stay in this place. Won't be back here.Indeed the entrance and downstairs restaurant and reception are nice to look at in the art deco style, but the rooms are horrible.Filthy carpet with burnt cigarette stains, wall paper peeling off, airconditioner not working, room too hot... Built in the 1930's under Japanese occupation, this hotel retains its old world feel brilliantly. From the old elevators in the 6-storey atrium, to the dark wood in the entrance and the art deco lighting in the corridor ceilings, to the montage of the famous people who have stayed here as you walk up the stairs, this is a place... The Harbin International Hotel is centrally located in the heart of the city, you will have easy access to major attractions and shopping. The hotel is an old hotel full of history and has accommodated major movie stars and politicians alike, the rooms are very large and the bathroom provides hot showers which is very important in a cold city... OK so the service is typically Chinese hit and miss, the breakfast is even more so (but top marks to the egg chef, he was spot on). The location is great, the price is right, the rooms are large and very comfortable. But for me, the really special thing about this hotel is its beautiful historic atmosphere. The building and... We used this hotel for a two night stay in Harbin, if you want pristine large riooms with all modern conveniences try somewhere else. If you want a hotel with character and love art deco fittings and stunning stained glass features and something a bit different stay here. I loved it and would go back just for the whole feel... It's location is good but one thing you should learn about hotels in China is that if it ain't 5 star, you shouldn't expect any good service. People don't speak any english, and even if you speak in Mandarin they seem to be lost in translation when talking to you. The appearance of the rooms and the overall hotel has... More

I am normally full of prejudice when choosing any 4-5 star Chinese managed hotel because I will be expecting no English speaking personnel or even slow service. This hotel was a nice surprise indeed. Great service, efficient delivery, clean and well kept rooms and quite spacious with accuracy on details. The staff are really helpful and caring. Price wise is... More
