Detailed Reviews
We loved our three night stay here with games drives into Chobe National Park and Boat Cruises on the Chobe River. The lodges themselves are individual concrete built rooms that are spacious, modern, have air conditioning and full bathrooms. The staff were all kind and helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and the view of the river was nice. Our guide for the drives and cruises, Mathews was AMAZING. He was nice and knowledgeable and spent just the right amount of time letting us see the animals without rushing but without staying too long and getting bored. He really made the trip. Dinners were also amazing and really flavorful. We loved our stay.

We loved River View Lodge beyond expectation. An incredibly customer-oriented staff showed us our room (little house), that combined atmosphere and practicality. Everything was so well thought of: electrical plugs, storage for bathroom necessities, etc. Already the first evening we saw hippos and warthogs behind the fence, right in front of our terrace. River View Lodge is a place we definitely want to revisit!

Our first experience of Botswana was River View Lodge, and they did their country proud! Beautiful gardens on the banks of the Chobe, with only an electric fence separating guests from game! Spotless accommodation, inviting communal and dining areas, attentive and fun staff, and great, fresh food from a small, but varied, menu.
We ventured out on the morning land safari and evening river cruise into the neighbouring Chobe Park - seeing lions, giraffe, hippos, and elephants - among many more.
We will return.

The customer service at this intimate retreat right on the Chobe River was out of this world. From the beginning to the end we were impressed. Super-friendly staff happily accommodated my request for vegan and gluten free food. The cook baked fresh gf bread, especially for me, brought us non-dairy milk, and they made breakfast plates of delicious cooked vegetables, potatoes, and seasoned baked beans, in additon to the the regular cereals, toast, and fruit, etc. They put together a lovley pre-packed breakfast for us when we had to leave early for a boat trip. Both breakfast and a 2pm lunch (set menu) were included and they made gluten free pasta for us for lunch. There was salad to to go with it, and we were set. When I needed an adapter for an American appliance one of the staff went out and bought one for the lodge that I could use. We were in the house, which is very spacious and has its own private patio overlooking the Chobe River where we could see all kinds of bird life. It was pleasant and clean and we had a wonderful stay there. The gardens are very nicely kept and there is an electric fence to keep unwanted animals out. There isn't a lot of room right on the property to take walks, but all the other benefits more than made up for that

What an amazing little lodge on the banks of the Chobe River, they offer their own safari cars and boats to explore at exceptionally good prices.
The rooms are newly decorated (room 2 was ours) in a lovely comfortable fashion, cosy beds with tea and coffee and a verandah to enjoy it on.
All of the staff are wonderful and nothing is too much trouble, Mossie arranged an esky with a substantial breakfast and flask of coffee for us when we wanted to go out early for a self drive game drive.
Dinner and the safari tea has all been huge and so delicious. Proper home cooked style food that’s abundant and tasty. The wine list is small but very good and so reasonably priced:
There’s a fire pit to sit around after dinner with an amarula cream or drink of your choice from the bar.
We are so happy we stayed here and would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Don't Hesitate to book this place is jewel on the Chobe River! My friend and I recently travelled around Botswana. Of all the places we stayed the River View Lodge was by far the best. We felt so welcomed checking in, Sofia was expecting us it was a warm greeting, the room was clean, comfy and the setting was stunning. The meal set up was a unique family style dinner which was great for sitting around and meeting other lovely travelers. This is a smaller sized resort and as a result the staff knew each guest and was able to provide personalized recommendations for them. We took advantage of the sunset cruise and the early morning game drive. The guide was wonderful and the vehicle was very comfy. I think families, couples and solo travelers would all feel at home at this lodge. My friend and I ending up staying again on our way back through Kasane and the entire River Lodge Family was waiting to greet us, hear about our adventures and they had upgraded our room. This really was a home away from home. My only regret was that we couldn't stay longer. So we will just have to visit again! Thank you for a great stay.

We are a Swedish couple who spent two nights at this lovely lodge in June 2023. The accommodation is spacious, the surroundings are stunning, the food is very good and the activities well organized.
Compared to more expensive lodges River View Lodge gives great value for the money..
We had two game drives and two boat tours - the guides were very knowingly and made their best efforts to maximize our experiences. We guess it s the nature experience that makes most people come here and that certainly didn't t disappoint.
All in all we have nothing but great things to say about River View Lodge.and it comes highly recommended

We stayed two nights in The River View hotel with our 2 boys , 12 and 14 y old. When you approach the hotel from the outside it does not look very special, but first impressions CAN be wrong.
The welcome was very warm and the rooms were very nice, clean and modern with great pictures on the wall.
They come to check the rooms twice a day and have a very good laundry service. We got our clothes neatly and ironed back the same day.
We did some nice game drives and a boat Safari with their own guide John. Very friendly man and lots of knowledge.
The food was very tasty, with a free lunch in the afternoon and always a vegetarian option.
Our last night the hotel was fully booked and there were not enough tables to eat dinner in the dining area. The solution however was wonderfull. They made this amazing decorated table next to the camp fire, our own private dinner. The friendly waitress even teaches me how to fold the napkins in to a bird.
The staffs treats you very friendly and makes you feel at home. They are always smiling and you can ask them everything.
Thank you so much for the wonderfull stay.

This is a really lovely place, very nicely located on the banks of the Chobe river, run by fabulous staff.
I stayed here with my father and daughter for two nights ( We would love to have stayed longer but we had already spent a couple of weeks in Namibia and 24 hours in Vic Falls immediately before coming here.
The rooms are clean, spacious and nicely equipped and the food was great. It's not the most extensive menu for dinner (though there is a vegetarian option), but it is excellent quality. We loved both of our evening meals. Breakfast was great too and there is a nice 'safari tea' put on around 2pm which was very welcome and included a savoury dish and salad with cakes and tea/coffee etc.
The organised morning game drives were wonderful. We saw so much wildlife, including a leopard and a stand off between a herd of buffalo and a large pride of lions (amongst many other wonderful sights). The game drive guide Matthew was great and his right hand man on the day, John. There is also an afternoon boat cruise option which I'd highly recommend. Again the wildlife is abundant and heading back down the river as the sun goes down I pretty unforgettable.
A big shout out goes to the wonderful Mossy (sorry if that is not the right spelling) and Shingi, who was running the admin (I've never deal with anymore more patient and responsive!) It was my daughter's birthday while we were there and they left a lovely treat in the bedroom and set up our evening meal table outside by the open fire with a special cake. It was very thoughtful and much appreciated.
I'd really recommend this place. We all really enjoyed it.

We loved our 3 night stay here. Our room was was very spacious, modern and very comfortable. We had a lovely view from our outdoor area to the pool and river. Gardens and lush and green and the common areas were very welcoming and inviting. The meals were delicious, one evening they set us up a table overlooking the river for

Dear Julie,
Many thanks for your interest in River View Lodge. Further to Klaus's helpful response, please note the Private Home has an en-suite bathroom featuring both a bath and shower, and with an additional WC off the main living area.
Should the Private Home be booked as a 2-bedroom unit (by way of an optional interleading Twin Room), please note the Twin Room also has its own separate bathroom with both a bath and shower.
Best wishes,
River View Lodge
Just google River View Lodge Kasane please.
If you contact the lodge they can arrange transport (about an hour) but you have to change taxi at the border. The lodge will also arrange an early morning game drive or evening river cruise. We found the river cruise much better, saw lots of game and got up close.
