In July/August 2016, Judy and I set out in our RV to roam in Wyoming and Montana, head toward familiar destinations and take it from there. We did want to "check out" the Ruby Valley, MT., which we had not visited. Stopping to watch a herd of buffalo on a mountainside, we found ourselves near the Upper Canyon Ranch (UCO)...

I was fortunate enough to spend a week at Upper Canyon Outfitters in early August, 2016. It was a fantastic week of fishing and accommodation. Donna McDonald and her staff were top notch with everything, including room, food, guides, outdoors activities and scenery. It is located in the beautiful upper Ruby River valley and I couldn't have asked for a...

We're back from our 12th Fly Fishing visit to Upper Canyon, and once again have to report that it's simply great. The guides are top-notch and the access to both private and public water is second to none. The fly shop has just what you need, and if your equipment doesn't arrive on your flight, there is good stuff to...

This was my first time visiting Upper Canyon. It was incredible. The food, lodge and hospitality are second to none. Donna and Jake are great hosts and their staff are excellent. Our one day of guided fishing was incredible with 20+ fish for each of us. Big browns, rainbows and cut bows. Mitch was a phenomenal guide and we learned...

We have gone to UCO for many years now for the horse riding experience. I am an experienced rider so really appreciate the great quality horses and customized rides. Scenary and plethora of trails can't be beat! Even though my husband is an experienced fly fisherman, he really only rides when he comes to UCO because it is so beautiful...

For the second year in a row, my wife and I drove cross-country to hunt elk and mule deer with Donna, Jake and the crew at UCO. This year, I was teamed up with guide Brian Smith and we had a great time putting in the work and reaping the rewards! Had a full day after tagging my elk to...

Had a ton of fun. Hiking was hard but was worth it to get to see the landscape. Getting the mule deer on the last day was a definite bonus. Justin and Aaron were great and good for a lot of laughs. Hope to be able to come back some day.

Jake and Donna's ranch and the mountain ranges surrounding them are beautiful . Our week 3 hunt exceeded all my expectations. The whole staff was friendly and attentive. The room we had in the lodge was very comfortable and provided plenty of space for clothes and gear. All the food was fantastic! Our guide worked hard and was a big...

There can be no greater compliment of service, than sharing stories with my friends and planning for a return trip to Upper Canyon Outfitters. Choosing between fishing, back country horse trips, and / or fall hunting are all options. The grandeur of the country, the sincerity and generosity of the people, and the resulting experiences make this a special place....
