AS JDB put it perfectly, this place is an aging dowager.I am sure this place was lovely a long time ago. The room where we were in first was so noisy I almost went crazy. There was a school band practicing for a holiday and I almost lost it after a long day of travel. Thankfully the nice people downstairs...

This (bolivian standard) 5 star hotel would not make it beyond 3 stars in europe. However it is probably the best you can do in Potosi. The room I had was sufficiently big and sufficiently heated (!) which is more than most other hotels in SW Bolivia will give you. Regarding the staff, friendliness , restaurant breakfast etc. I fully...

Probably a 5 star hotel during Potosi's prime years, this is no longer the case. However, given the limited choice of hotels in the city, the Coloso is probably the best option. Rooms are acceptable, but prior to unpacking be certain to check out everything; my first room did not have a safe, and bedside lights did not work; reception...

This really is an odd hotel. It is housed in a converted building with a magnificent facade, and a marbled lobby with a picturesque bar based on a mining theme. But there any pretence to luxury ends. The bar is not manned, and the lobby has not been fully furnished. The staff on the front desk are straight from a...

Having stayed at a number of hotels in SW Bolivia this made a nice change. The entrance was large although a little bland (Same with the dining room). The rooms are good sized and pleasant with good views over part of the city. I ordered room service and as promised it was delivered within 25 minutes and was excellent. Location...

This is the best hotel in Potosí. It is centrally located and the rooms are clean and comfortable. It doesn't seem to be very well managed and the dining room service and meals leave much to be desired. We arrived around 9:00 p.m. and wanted to have dnner but we were given a hard time because the tables had already...

Hotel Coloso is the only 5-star hotel in Potosi. There is not even a 4-star hotel in town, so that puts this hotel as by far and away the highest end lodging in town. However, don't get too excited - it is a Bolivian 5-star hotel, which wouldn't be more than a 3 1/2 star hotel in Europe or the...

The hotel is in an excellent location just a short walk from the centre. The bedrooms are a good size and clean but are typical hotel rooms with little character. Our room overlooked a school (I think) courtyard. We were subject to the delights of band practice during the evening which lasted for sometime and is very loud but not...

Large empty dining room was not very congenial but the food was fine, if basic. Very loud music and noise outside until late. Mining exhibits in the lobby.

The room was better than expected but there was loud music outside until midnight so not a restful night. The restaurant was most uninviting with no staff in attendance so we went out to eat.
