My wife and I spent a weekend night to celebrate my birthday at the end of May 2015. Everything was just excellent; from planning and reservation, to reception, accommodation, service and facilities. A birthday cake was waiting in our room for a second celebration after the one we had at the Bab Al Shams open air restaurant located within walking...

It was magnificent from beginning to end. From the moment we entered our room, discovered the authentic setting and furnitures with an outstanding view on an oasis . We have not seen it all yet as we just stood in complete admiration watching the beautiful sunset over the desert dunes. The Arabic restaurant " Al Hadeerah" was beyond all expectations...

We stayed here for four nights, on our return trip from Mauritius on the way back home to London. This resort is situated in desert away from hustle and bustle of the city, it's a perfect place to chill in the heat of the Arabian desert. The staff are extremely professional and friendly, the pool is clean and filled with...

Oh, this place is so special! We stayed one night only, but I would recommend two! Half board basis includes camel rides and its just chill time and a half! The restaurants aren't cheap but the food is very high standard, the service impeccable, the little things, the attention to detail, even the afternoon tea delivered to your door, dates,...

Beautiful Hotel with great service. The food is excellent, with a good variety and well-priced menus. The staff are fantastic and they make especially young children feel very welcome, with small touches to enhance the stay of families. A special thank you to Manish Singh in the security department for returning my daughter's DVD, which we forgot on the DVD...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Translated from Arabic as "Gateway to the sun", the *award-winning 5-star Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa is designed to resemble a fortified rural Arab village amidst the desert landscape. Featuring low-rise architecture, this sandy coloured style fort boasts the main tower with Reception area and lobby and clusters of two-storey buildings housing guest accommodation, restaurants, spa and meeting facilities interconnected by seemingly endless little walkways. The charm of Arabia is personified in every corner of the property with small lanes running through the hotel, scattered around ponds and secluded seating areas, shaded courtyards, water fountains and trickling streams bestowing the feel of cool tranquillity. The abundance of green garden areas and manicured lawns adds to the quiet and soothing environment of the resort. The rustic Arabian theme of exterior design continues to flow in the carefully selected interior decorations and settings featuring uncovered natural stone floors, bare plastered walls, dark wood and iron fixtures, warm dimmed lighting and an abundance of artefacts showcased throughout the property. The resort boasts 113 rooms and suites offering cosy accommodation in an authentic Arabian style with majority of the rooms having a private terrace. All guest rooms and public areas have complimentary Wi-Fi access. *World's Leading Desert Resort, World Travel Awards. ... more   less
