So, 50% off bookings says the website, and no matter which link you follow, you end up with rates which are significantly higher. I have stayed at this hotel multiple times and its getting more and more expensive for a very underwhelming offering. The normal rate for a twin room, ends up at 2,000AED after the 50% discount, which is...

Just stayed in Bab Al Shams few days ago with my friends and seriously cannot wait to go back. I have never been to Dubai before and was looking for a unique place to stay in. We did not want to stay in a hotel/resort that we could find anywhere else. This resort was so wonderful. The architecture and layout...

+'ves: The staff were amazing, particularly in the Indian restaurant where they couldn't do enough for us. Swim up bar is lovely. Indian restaurant was probably the best I've ever eaten and the staff were 1st class. Loads of live entertainment which was all amazing. Fireworks both nights I was there. Falcon show was cool. -'ves: The larger swimming pool...

Fantastic roof top lounge for shisha and drinks, with a great sunset view Negative: Price - restricted to on site restaurants, as the property is located in the middle of the desert. Extremely expensive meals, on average 350-400DHS per...

Relaxing place and friendly staff but not worth the money spent!!! It does not have the feel of a luxury 5 star resort but more of a place where buses full of tourists would get dropped off. Beautiful resort to spend quality time with your family and friends. Neat n clean swimming pool, play area for small kids, bonefire areas, spa for re-energizing & other activities. Even if you are not planning to stay overnight, spend at least 5-6 hours to enjoy everything. Must visit resort if you are in Dubai.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Translated from Arabic as "Gateway to the sun", the *award-winning 5-star Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa is designed to resemble a fortified rural Arab village amidst the desert landscape. Featuring low-rise architecture, this sandy coloured style fort boasts the main tower with Reception area and lobby and clusters of two-storey buildings housing guest accommodation, restaurants, spa and meeting facilities interconnected by seemingly endless little walkways. The charm of Arabia is personified in every corner of the property with small lanes running through the hotel, scattered around ponds and secluded seating areas, shaded courtyards, water fountains and trickling streams bestowing the feel of cool tranquillity. The abundance of green garden areas and manicured lawns adds to the quiet and soothing environment of the resort. The rustic Arabian theme of exterior design continues to flow in the carefully selected interior decorations and settings featuring uncovered natural stone floors, bare plastered walls, dark wood and iron fixtures, warm dimmed lighting and an abundance of artefacts showcased throughout the property. The resort boasts 113 rooms and suites offering cosy accommodation in an authentic Arabian style with majority of the rooms having a private terrace. All guest rooms and public areas have complimentary Wi-Fi access. *World's Leading Desert Resort, World Travel Awards. ... more   less
