Excellent customer service.....excellent attention to detail in all aspects of the resort, as well as anticipation of our needs. Beautiful location hidden in the desert but easily accessible to the city. A relaxing retreat. Fantastic show at Al Hadheerah. Fabulous singer at the sunset bar Al Sarab. Also great destination for the famous Dubai Friday brunches. Special thanks to Mr...

We visited for the long weekend due to the National Day holiday in the UAE. We drove up from Abu Dhabi. The resort is very easy to find and a short drive (around an hour) from Dubai and Abu Dhabi alike. I am an expedia VIP member but thanks to the hotel being fully booked, they weren't able to give...

Having researched desert resorts near Dubai for a day visit we chose Bab al Shams for 5 adults and a 3 year old. The daily rate at 375 dirhams each sounds expensive but the 3 year old was free and all the adults thought it was a fabulous day and actually very good value. The facilities for adults and children...

My husband and I recently stayed for 3 nights following on from a 4 night stay in Dubai City. This was our third visit to Dubai and I wanted to experience the desert and see a different side to the country. It took approx an hour to get there from our hotel out on the palm and enabled us to...

Extremely overpriced for what you get. The resort facilities like the pools and restaurants were quite nice. The staff are amazing. The rooms are quite dated and small by Dubai standards. The king terrace room was interesting, set in a cave-type environment but again, was small and old. The royal suite was more like a very junior suite. Though it's...

We stayed for 1 night and had jolly good time. Good place to relax far from busy city life. Traditional room design combined with modern amenities like cement oval bath tub, queen size bed,:etc. The Arabic dishes falafel, hummous, salad, blue berry ginger mojito drink all were excellent at Sarab Restaurant. We could not get booking at Masala Restaurant, need...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Translated from Arabic as "Gateway to the sun", the *award-winning 5-star Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa is designed to resemble a fortified rural Arab village amidst the desert landscape. Featuring low-rise architecture, this sandy coloured style fort boasts the main tower with Reception area and lobby and clusters of two-storey buildings housing guest accommodation, restaurants, spa and meeting facilities interconnected by seemingly endless little walkways. The charm of Arabia is personified in every corner of the property with small lanes running through the hotel, scattered around ponds and secluded seating areas, shaded courtyards, water fountains and trickling streams bestowing the feel of cool tranquillity. The abundance of green garden areas and manicured lawns adds to the quiet and soothing environment of the resort. The rustic Arabian theme of exterior design continues to flow in the carefully selected interior decorations and settings featuring uncovered natural stone floors, bare plastered walls, dark wood and iron fixtures, warm dimmed lighting and an abundance of artefacts showcased throughout the property. The resort boasts 113 rooms and suites offering cosy accommodation in an authentic Arabian style with majority of the rooms having a private terrace. All guest rooms and public areas have complimentary Wi-Fi access. *World's Leading Desert Resort, World Travel Awards. ... more   less
