Sofitel Dubai the Obelisk garners high praise for its amenities, offering a luxurious experience complete with a comprehensive club lounge and a sumptuous breakfast. Nestled in a central location, it allows guests to effortlessly explore Dubai's diverse attractions. While the spacious and immaculate rooms with breathtaking views are a highlight for many travelers, a few have noted occasional maintenance and service issues.
The professional and friendly staff generally deliver attentive service, although there have been some service lapses reported. Despite minor concerns regarding room upgrades and pricing, the overall value of the hotel is celebrated by guests.

Detailed Reviews
I stayed at the newly opened Obelisk for 2 nights at the end of Nov and I had a fantastic time there.
1. Standard room is huge by any hotel standard, the highlight is the bed and linens in typical Sofitel style they have the best beds in the hotel business. The room was super comfortable and equipped with all the things you expect from a 5 stars luxury hotel. Insulation was top notch the room was super quiet.
2. The staff couldn’t do more to make me feel at home and accomodate all my requests. I landed at 8am after a sleepless flight so once I got to the hotel at 9am they gave me a room right away and free of charge for early check in. To me that was priceless.
3. The hotel is impressive and they have not spared any detail. Pool area is great, very big pool and sun deck meaning there is a lot of space between sun loungers.
4. Restaurants include a Boulud and a Japanese one which I tried and it was good not just the average restaurants you find in hotels.
5. The location is within a short drive to downtown and 10/15 mins from Jumeirah Beach 1. Incredibly close to the airport so super convenient if you need accommodation on the way in or out of Dubai.
Thank you to the wonderful team at Sofitel Obelisk and good luck with it all.

The best view of Dubai guaranteed! The rooms are spacious with floor-to-ceiling windows with a panoramic view of the city and creek area. The hotel is new and well maintained. We paid the slight difference in rate and enjoyed the benefits of the club access and the beautiful view from the 51st floor. The staff is very responsive and helpful. Special shoutout to Joseph, Alex and Arun from FO team and Romela from restaurants for professionalism and making us feel welcome 👍🏻
Variety of breakfast are very nice considering the current restrictions. Have to mention our favourite bar in Dubai Nine. The ambience, food and service are worth applauds!
The hotel provides filtered water in recycled glass bottles as a part of environmental policy which we liked a lot.

This is the second time we have stayed at Sofitel The Obelisk. In March this year we were here the first time and came again because we were thrilled by the service, the staff and the great breakfast.
The Egyptian-style hotel is very modern and looks extremely chic from the inside and outside. We were greeted this time again very friendly at check-in and were even allowed an hour earlier in the room.
This time my wife and I tried the spa area and the therapist Ayo gave us a great massage. We felt very comfortable with the team of Chloe who greeted and advised us in the spa area.
The pool area is very busy in the afternoon hours, but there is enough staff to take care of the guests.
Our highlight was still the breakfast. There has been a change here during our second stay. Previously it was a half buffet and half a la carte breakfast, now a much larger buffet. However, still very good and varied breakfast. The staff is as always super attentive. Here especially our favorite, as last time our dear Lovelle. Almas and Eria were also extremely friendly and attentive. They have asked several times if everything is always to our satisfaction or if they can still bring us something and always had a smile left (of course under her face mask :) ).
As in my last review, I can definitely recommend this hotel and as announced last time I also brought my family on this trip to Sofitel The Obelisk and they are as expected impressed.
However, I must give a small point of criticism. In my opinion the management around the drinking water in the hotel takes some time to getting used to. In the hotel room were always too few water bottles, you always had to call to get more. In addition, those are glass bottles (probably from an environmental point of view but to the detriment of the guest). Two times after the room was cleaned, no water was even provided. We then had to wait over an hour for water after I called twice. In addition, I find it pretty odd if you do not get free drinking water at the pool but must buy overpriced water. This is handled much better at other hotels in Dubai of the same star category.
Anyways, we will enjoy our last days at the Sofitel The Obelisk and will definitly come back a third time.

+1
The Obelisk continues to stand out as my hotel of choice and home away from home in Dubai. The quality of service, aesthetics, proactive engagement with guests and a general feeling of well-being is remarkable. I find these attributes directly correspond with the culture of this hotel. From the initial point of contact with concierge, the delightfully scented opulent front desk welcome at reception through to finally settling in to my plush modern room. I am happy and marveled at the continually impressive offerings at The Obelisk.
Despite the challenges we happen to find ourselves in the last 18 months of the pandemic the staff at this hotel have kept me feeling safe and secure with the housekeeping routine. This is well complemented by the tasty and varied Cuisine from in-room dining. Taiko and Boulard; two specialty restaurants that I had the pleasure of savoring and are a must try!
This is a five star hotel in the true sense of the star rating. Every service conceivable in comfort and convenience is available within these premises.
The lounge on the 51st floor seems like a dream but is surely real and I spent a lot of time from morning breakfast through afternoon tea and dinner there! It is managed by the very best in hospitality and from my experience seamlessly serves any discerning guest as a one-stop destination on it’s own right.
Laundary service, Maintenance, butler services, discreet security personnel are all part of my first hand experience during my stay and I found each component extra ordinary in dedication and service.
I struggled to find a glitch but alas there was none on this visit. Even the plumbing back draft issues I pointed out in my first stay review has since been resolved.
I wish to commend the management and staff of this outstanding destination. Do not relent on your efforts because your tradition of excellence is now a culture that beckons to me.

An awesome structure made even more iconic by what hits the eye several minutes before I arrived...an Obelisk seemingly floating in a void. This brand new hotel is situated in a most aesthetically appealing neighborhood that’s interlinked with luxury apartment blocks, majestic symbols of ancient Egypt, another monumental hotel adjacent, a health eco system and a one stop mall called Wafi. All this in a location that straddles “old” and “new” Dubai. The thoughtful vision behind what is probably the last piece of the jigsaw as repressed in the Sofitel obelisk could not have been by accident. The interior does not disappoint either. Majestic entrance and lobby ushers one into intertwined lounges, cafes , restaurants and the reception and the bank of state of the art elevators are just behind an imposing wall waiting to whisk one up to the splendid rooms and suites within 50floors. A further floor lands one on an executive lounge that’s a joy to behold for its unmatched views and the splendor comfort and quality of service offered by its very warm and welcoming team. The rooms and suites are top notch in all ramifications and a pleasure to luxuriate in. This hotel will be the toast of Dubai...undoubtedly. I give kudos to the lovely team on the 51st floor. Madonna is a joy to meet. Exceptional warmth and so helpful as is her colleague Charm. William at the bar always made my evenings so memorable with his helpful suggestions on the best drinks and mixes. My 23 year old daughter who came to visit was especially enthralled with his mock tails and also the quality and taste of food served over happy hour. Salute to Vishnu a top notch butler and all the waiters. Pls keep it up. In room dining, Laundary and housekeeping all score a 5* on my scorecard. Francis and his colleague at the concierge and valet section deserve top commendation for their courtesy professionalism and knowledge. I’m looking forward to my next stay in March.

Stayed at this hotel for a couple of days before departing back home. Location wise it’s 5 minutes from the airport which is ideal.
Had a club room booked and the views from the top floor were amazing. Afternoon tea nibbles were ok.
The rooms were available an hour after the 3pm check in however with covid rules I’d rather they take time to make the rooms spotless and they were which made up for the delay.
Service was polite enough but wouldn’t say anything to stand out compared to other hotels however not terrible by any stretch.
What let’s this hotel down in my opinion is the breakfast.
Everything seemed to be pre cooked and left under heat lamps. While without covid rules they may do this differently, I felt disappointed that items that should in my opinion be cooked to order such as eggs were left under a heat lamp for however long.
Overall not a bad hotel but not on the same level as some others in Dubai.

We checked in at the Sofitel The Obelisk and were immediately convinced by the service at the beginning — we really felt like arriving at a 5 star hotel. The baggage was taken care of directly and politely, and the check-in was very pleasant. We had booked a room rate with breakfast. It‘s definitely worth it because the selection is large and everything fresh. At this point, I‘d like to mention Gamil from the Brasserie Boulud who was always concerned to provide the best possible service. His service orientation was outstanding and his friendly attitude contagious :-) We‘ll be happy to be back in the Brasserie some day!
Also, the pool area is well taken care of and super convenient to soak up the sun (from morning til sunset!). Haifa at the reception was super nice, friendly and happy; it was always a pleasure to talk to her before unwinding by the pool.
In general, everyone was super polite, forthcoming and helpful!
We even extended our stay here and we‘ll certainly be back. The location is no problem at all — taxis are fairly cheap so you still get to enjoy any location you want for small transportation expenses.
Keep up the attention to detail because that‘s worth gold!

We have just returned from a 6 day stay at the Obelisk. Quality and service were excellent right from the beginning of our stay, bags were immediately taken from the taxi and straight to our room which was much appreciated at 2am!
We had a luxury club room on the 30th floor which had fantastic room and was really big. Plenty of room for us and baby as well as cases and a cot.
The club lounge had the most amazing views, however we couldn’t understand why the side with the views of the Burj Khalifa was not used at all. If you have children then perhaps the club level is not worth the extra money, children are not allowed in during cocktail hour at all, even if it’s a baby asleep in a pram. This was disappointing to us as, we were asked to sit outside until very last orders, only giving us time for one drink.
The breakfast selection at la veranda was sensational and we ate so well every morning with excellent attentive service, nothing was too much trouble. A wide selection of hot food, cereal, fruit, pastries and juices were available.
The pool area was very nice, shown to sun loungers each morning with fresh towels. Sometimes attracting attention for drinks and food service was a little difficult, but we always got there eventually.
A special mention must be given to the valet staff at the front of the hotel who always made sure we got a taxi, even during busy times with no taxis around!
The only thing that lets the hotel down slightly is that the surroundings are very quiet, not much in the way of bars/restaurants to walk to in the evening, only in the shopping centre next door.

I really liked this hotel and would come back to this one again. It was outside of the more built up area of downtown, but well located to get around by taxi.
The friendliness of the staff and how clean and well run it was made is what made this hotel stand out for us.
Reception
On arrival late at night, very helpful and a warm welcome. It was easy to check-out too.
Room
We did have a very nice room with a sofa, lots of storage and a big comfortable bed and bathroom. On arrival, the room did not have enough hangers, but a quick call and plenty more were brought up to our room. Shampoo, Conditioner, Shower Gel, Moisturiser were topped up daily. Flannels were also supplied. Still filtered water was supplied, but we bought sparkling in the supermarket next door.
Room service
We had dinner late on arrival and breakfast a couple of times in the room and found room service to be of a very high standard.
Breakfast
This was always a lovely experience with the staff being particularly sunny and warm. A special thank you to Erin, Aman and Lovelle. You could order food like omelettes to the table, but also a selection of fruit, meats, cheeses, hot food, pancakes, etc on the buffet. I would highly recommend the French toast here - it was outstanding.
Pool
This was a very pleasant surprise as the pool is cooled, a nice breeze blowing through most days and the staff were all wonderful. On arrival you are given towels and still water, they help you set up your sunbeds and shade (they also help move the umbrellas all day to keep you in the shade if you so wish), the lifeguards are very helpful and friendly too, the bar / pool side restaurant staff are fantastic, especially King, but they were all great. We often got lunch here and would eat in a cabana. The food was very good and an extensive menu. The pool had a swim up bar too.
Gym
This was my only disappointment with the hotel. The running machines were not very robust and were fine for walking on or a slow jog, but not great if you really wanted to run at higher speeds. I am not particularly heavy and the machine was not particularly comfortable and did make a lot of noise.
The hotel also had direct access to the Wafi Mall, which was handy too.

We checked in on 31st December in room 2421. We arrived and were taken to the club floor for check in. We had mentioned during booking that we want a room with Burj Khalifa view. Before making the booking I had also spoken to the reservation and they had informed that they will try to provide the room with the view. During check in I was simply informed that they cannot provide a room with Burj Khalifa view. Upon pushing them Mr. Hashir informed that he can provide a room with the view if we pay more. Additionally the room was a smoking room and had a late check out so we had to decline. Surprisingly on booking.com luxury rooms were showing available.
The club lounge has amazing views of all over Dubai. However on 31st they made a rule that guests with club lounge cannot visit after 11pm although The club lounge is open for guests who are using their restaurants. You can understand our irritation that all our requests were turned down. They simply informed us that since they have 600 rooms and they are fully booked they cannot entertain all request made by guests.
We visited the club lounge again in the afternoon and requested them to heat already cooked food for my 6 months daughter. This took one hour for them to complete after making multiple requests to different people. My daughter started crying because she was hungry and we had to leave the lounge with tears in her eyes.
If you are in Dubai to just use hotel to sleep and explore the city than Sofitel could work. However if you are looking for good service and relaxation than you need to look elsewhere.
Sofitel Obelisk has no consideration for requests made by guests and service is downright rude. I highly recommend you to avoid this hotel and consider Mandarin Oriental, One and only or the jumeirah hotels. Sofitel is forgetting that Dubai is home to world class resorts and hotels.
Sofitel needs to train their staff better and explain to them what customer service is. If zero or negative stars was possible I would rate them that.

Yes, the hotels follow the annually-issued guidelines from the UAE and Dubai authorities which usually allow for continued 5 star hospitality operations. Confirm same with hotel on email
Hi it wasn’t when we went
No idea, but there is an attached mall at the hotel or try downtown? Or ask the reception desk, they are very helpful
