Let me start by saying that I am a former airline employee and have owned a travel company. My partner is currently an airline employee so it’s fair to say we have both travelled extensively. ChECK IN - Prior to arriving I had received an email asking for our check in time. I was told they would try to have our room ready at this time (11am). Amaan at the front desk was super. He was quick, informative, efficient and certainly belongs in customer service! After checking in we went for a bite to eat and within minutes received an email that our room was ready. ROOM - The first couple of days we had issues with our shower. Maintenance came and had a look and told us it was the “slope”. Not much could be done while we were occupying the room so Ahmed at the front desk personally moved us to a new room which was actually nicer and quieter. (I’m not complaining about the noise as it shuts down around 11:30pm anyways). He repeatedly apologized for the inconvenience to which was no fault of his. Give this guy a raise! No free pouring alcohol in the rooms like other Riu’s. We didn’t care about that as we understood the culture is very different here and can respect that. DINING - This property is IMMACULATE. You will never see a staff member standing around. I swear the wait staff have eyes in the back of their head. If you place a bowl down on your table they swoop in out of nowhere with a spoon. Coffee and water is always topped up and on more than one occasion as soon as we sat down they remembered our drink order from previously dining there. I would also like to add that I am vegetarian and not once did I struggle to find something to eat. In fact, there were some foods that I didn’t even get around to trying because there were so many options! Sweet Lauren works at the buffet entrance. For the love of everything give this girl another job. She is so personable and kind, it seems a waste that she is offering hand sanitizer to guests. She needs to be in Guest Relations! BEACH & GROUNDS - There are no shortage of lounge chairs by the pool or on the beach. You also have 3 pools to choose from depending on what your needs are that day (quiet, music or children). The sea is so so warm. We didn’t spend much time swimming in it because it wasn’t as refreshing as the pool but there were others who were in from sun up to sun down. I would definitely give this hotel a 5/5. We didn’t travel with kids and I typically enjoy an adults only environment but would set that aside to stay here again. I don’t know how anybody could complain about this property but have come to learn that people will always look for something to be offended by. There is no question that we will be back :) CHECK OUT - Our flight leaves tonight at 10:50pm. We were kindly given a late check out with the option to use the facilities until we leave later this evening. There’s a room to shower and get changed beforehand. Also, I’m giving honourable mention to Youssef at the front desk…just because! If Riu Dubai is on your list on considerations, just DO IT. Side note.. We found a little kitty on the ground.s. It was very emaciated and hungry. After a few days it was just gone. I’m hoping that these poor creatures are taken to a shelter of some sort of the staff find them a nuisance. Hotel's Favourite
Our experience at Dubai Riu was nothing but perfect! "He"is in a new location in Dubai called Deira Islands and or sure in a couple of years will be a sensation in Dubai. Riu is always a perfect standard all inclusive resort with very welcoming and friendly staff. The hotel is "smelling desert"such as is band new! Front Ocean rooms are mandatory! Our room was absolutely perfect with a great view and nice shower. The front desk staff was great! Specialty dinning rooms were amazing and the Italian one had the best touch... Reminded me the Italian in Cancun at Riu Cancun. Pool area amazing and the bartenders were really well trained to make a perfect Mojito! The general dinning room had absolutely excellent choices each and every day! Everyone had a smile and as a professional traveller, hotel manager and travel agent, I didnt have any dissapointment of any AOI... Excellent! Thank you Luis for your hospitality! You were amazing! I will be back for sure.

We love this hotel and have just returned home after our 3rd holiday here in a year. The hotel is close to the airport (20 minutes in a car) which we like. The hotel staff are all exceptional. Attentive, helpful and friendly in all departments. We love the selection of food in the restaurant. My husband is picky as he is a good cook himself and he loves the food here, particularly Arab Corner. I am vegetarian and was also very well catered for at every meal. I wanted to mention some of the lovely restaurant staff members in my review as they always went over and above - Zin Mon, Praveen, Eliene (good luck with the baby), Tony, Ramadhan, Regina, Laureen, Hendra and Shekhar. Also Nitya and his team who produced some delicious meals that I really, really enjoyed. The rooms are clean and spacious. The pool and beach areas are very clean and every time we have visited we have never struggled to find a sun lounger. Beach bars are good with a cocktail of the day and a good selection of drinks and service is fast and always with a smile. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and we will be going again in March 2023. if you are thinking of staying here - go for it as you will not be disappointed.

This Riu hotel is not at the same standard as their Riu Palace hotels. It is very isolated next to one other hotel. It costs £60 return in hotel taxi to Dubai/Mall of the Emirates Malls. The staff at the hotel were excellent and rooms very good. Food was very good although main restaurant was very busy and incidents with adults and kids colliding when going around for food. Curries and Red Snapper fantastic. Speciality restaurants were all buffet with no service to table and food exactly like main restaurant. More use could be made of the outside space at night by opening up a bar as there is plenty of seating and nice lighting. Always plenty of sunbeds and shades. Staff on beach excellent and always cleaning away rubbish. We had a fire alarm which turned out to be a test but total chaos as nobody in charge as a fire Marshall. Everyone wandering around lobby and staff still working in reception. If it was a real fire I would hate to think what would happen Hotel was full of Russian speaking guests who are not the best to be around especially with the situation in Ukraine.

Loved everything about Dubai! Will definitely return. So clean, friendly and hospitable. The weather was a guarantee which is why we choice Dubai and food was fantastic. Loved the hotel location and the mall and buildings. Visited Atlantis water park too. Wished we’d booked a longer stay. Have gone with Tui on several packages now including Jamaica, Mexico and Dominican Republic.

Because of the price we paid, I wasn’t expecting to be as impressed with the hotel as I was. Don’t get me wrong, this is not a 5 star luxury resort, but then again you’re not paying those sort of prices. The food is excellent in all four restaurants. The three speciality restaurants are excellent, you can book in either at reception or via the app. The hotel is incredibly clean, even the sun-beds are cleaned each morning! A wide range of food is available in the main restaurant, and the quality is very good. Everyone is extremely helpful, but a special mention to Ngurah in the speciality restaurants, Regina in the main restaurant and Laureen who greets you at the entrance to the main restaurant. The rooms are fine, we had a sea facing one. I cannot fault the set up here whatsoever.

Excellent hotel and friendly staff, facilities were very good. The outside pool bars could have stayed open until later but plenty of others bars in the hotel. The beach was clean and plenty of sun loungers.

Stayed for a week in September and it wasn't long enough! The moment you walk through tje doors, you are greeted by friendly welcoming staff. Only 20 min drive from the airport. We emailed ahead to request twin beds which was accommodated and our room was ready on arrival. We stayed on 5th floor with a Seaview. Room was clean, fridge sticked with cold drinks. All of the staff are lovely, they really take pride in their job and want to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Such a clean hotel due to the constant cleaning. The beach is nice, warm sea. We went paddleboarding. Pools are cooler and we enjoyed the swim up bar which is adults only. Easy enough to get sunbeds. Food is very fresh and well prepared. Breakfast & lunch in the main buffet restaurant which gets busy. We visited the 3 speciality restaurants in the evenings. Although there is alot of variety in all restaurants, they do need to cater more for non meat eaters. Again, all the staff cannot do enough for you. We rarely had to queue and although the hotel seemed full, it was not super busy. It is a family hotel and although we visited during UK term time, there are lots of young children and it did seem constant tantrums. Which of course, is not the hotels fault. All attractions are within reach by taxi. Taxi drivers are professional, meters always on & reasonably priced. We had an amazing time, it does appear that more hotels ect are planned in the area.

We stayed at the Hotel Riu Dubai on 20th September 2022 for a week. The hotel is new and only has one other hotel next door. Located within Deira Island which is approx 25 minutes from Dubai Airport. The hotel is new and was very nice. Everything is spotless and clean as were the rooms. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Food is fantastic. One tip I would give you in terms of the main restaurant is to choose a table at the back of the restaurant by the window and stick with this for the duration of your holiday as that part of the restaurant is not busy with guest walking past all the time plus the staff get to know you and you are treated very good. Our waitress Zin Mon was lovely and she was so attentive and had your drinks on the table before you had sat down and as soon as you walked into that section of the restaurant Zin Mon would direct you to a table. The hotel also has three speciality restaurants. Lebanese, Asian, and Italian which have to be booked in advance. We ate in all three but did not enjoy the Lebanese. Alcoholic beverages are also good with most branded drinks. Entertainment is a bit hit and miss and repetitive, but they did their best. It never bothered us that this hotel is a bit out of the way as Taxis are available via the hotel and I would recommend using these as you get the price which was reasonable prior to taking your ride. We would certainly book to go there again. The only negative was that we arrived at 2:30am in early hours of morning and we was advised that our room was not available until 3pm later that day and was told that if we wanted a room to sleep in we had to pay £240.00 or sleep in reception. We did think this was harsh given the fact that we had been travelling for 12 hours and dispute us asking for a complimentary room we were told no and had to pay the £240.00. Given the fact we were told that rooms were available we would have thought that staff at the hotel would have given us this room free of charge as we have since found out that it is discretionary and up to the staff to make this decision on their own judgment. All in al we had a lovely time.

We stayed in Riu Dubai for a week from mid September. The hotel is new and on the whole very nice but has some challenges. The hotel. It is remote but close to the airport and with easy access to the city centre making it convenient. Deira Island is flat and featureless. So, no real wow factor in the location. The beach is manmade and a little sharp underfoot but the sea is a warm 34d and clean if not completely clear. Its also spotless and I have NEVER seen so many cleaners. The restaurants have lads sweeping crumbs and spills constantly. All public areas are the same. They do need to be cautious with wet floors in the toilets, a real hazard when you come in from the bright sunlight and fail to notice! They do have a face covering requirement in all public places in Dubai. This was explained to us at check in and we complied in the lobby, bars and restaurants. It was not reinforced in the lobby but the inside bars would not serve you unless you complied. The room Nothing special. Again, lacking any wow factor. Slippers but no robes seemed strange? The rooms are kept beautifully cleaned by a team of boys who do a great job. The mini bar with soft drinks was stock often enough and the bottled water was more than ample. A couple of beers would have been most welcome. You MUST keep the door to the balcony shut otherwise the condensation is very bad inside minutes, in no small part due to the fierce aircon! The bed was massive and very comfortable. Our room on the second floor was literally as far as you could get from the lobby. It was a long walk but very quiet! We heard no noise for the entire week we stayed. The sea view was OK but the view of Palm roof and the carpark not so great. Food offer This disappointed me the most. Only one option for breakfast and lunch. ALL BUFFET. And Canteen like - busy, crowded, noisy and without any atmosphere. Honestly how difficult would it be to open either Palm or Moon for a light lunch offer? The food is of a very reasonable standard and lots of options. It was always hot and replenished frequently but I hated the fact that some guests start eating at the buffet or feeding their kids as they walked around! Different standards I suppose. We mainly ate in a small section that was served by Laureen, Regina and Josephine. Kenyan and Ugandan ladies who were an absolute delight. They looked after us very well, Lauren greats every single guest warmly and Regina and Josephine made sure we never had empty tea pots or wine glasses. I didn’t get his name but the young lad who cleaned here made a point of speaking every day. There are three themed restaurant that open for 2 days each one at a time. So, you actually only have two choices most night of the main buffet or a themed one. (No options on Sundays as all three are closed) Moon. Lebanese and very tasty. The server in there – Ngurah – was exceptional! He really did an excellent job of looking after us two nights in a row. Palm. Italian food but the service was poor. Nearly 15 minutes to get a drink. The host was more interested in getting the staff to clear and relay table (when there were plenty already made up) than serving guests. I had to ask the chefs to replenish the salads. The staff, while very nice, had no focus and a lack of direction. We cancelled our second booking. Spice. Absolutely stunning. We loved the location, ambiance and service from the entire team with Ngurah as well. The food was outstanding. By far the best place to eat The offer in the sports bar was VERY poor. Just not worth the effort but to be able to say its 24-hour AI they need something. Its not 24-hour drinks either. They stop serving at 2:30 am and start again at 10am. Honestly not an issue but don’t call it 24-hour AI if it’s not correct NONE of the restaurants enforce the dress code. Entertainment and team Really fun group of people who try and engage with everyone. The games were fun to join in with but you were put under no pressure. Evening entertainment was OK. It filled a few hours in and was fine. I was disappointed that they didn’t involve the guest though. Apart from the White Party (which was excellent) there was no dancing. I love to get up and join in so yes, a little disappointing. Bars Very limited cocktail offer. Not all top brands as advertised – no Jack Daniels for example or any nice brandy. But the wine was very nice and amply flowed at meal times. The Lager was very good but only available in small glasses. We Brits like a Pint! The pool bars are very efficient and we always had great service. Special mention to Partha who is delightful and after 2 days remembered our drinks! So, on the whole we had a good break. Its not a cheap hotel and while I appreciate its only 4 star, I think I expected more of a wow factor. The staff saved this from getting a poorer review. EVERY SINGLE ONE are excellent at customer service. Would I visit again. No. but only because the food options are more limited than they appear on paper. We really like to have a meal served to us and this didn’t suit my tastes.
