Sitting along the Mekong River, Kamu Lodge offers the unique opportunity to experience slow travel with accommodation in our spacious “African Safari” tents, each with a private balcony and thatched roofs. Our tents provide all necessary comforts and great river views. Using only solar power energy at the lodge, rooms have lights, fans and each has an en-suite private bathroom with shower facilities. The experience includes boat transfers to and from Luang Prabang. Step back in time visiting and getting to know the people from the neighboring Kamu Ethnic Minority Village. Activities include the chance to learn traditional crafts from the Kamu people of net fishing, gold panning and to learn with a “hands on” opportunity of rice planting and harvesting. We also offer traditional massages that complement the experience. Enjoy al fresco dining at the lodge’s rustic restaurant in the middle of the rice fields. We serve Lao specialties, offering lunch, dinner and breakfast included in the package. There is also a well-stocked bar, offering a delicious selection of drinks and refreshments. Kamu Lodge is in Yoi Hai Village, a 2.5-hour boat ride from Luang Prabang, tour includes a stop at the revered Pak Ou Caves. The 2 day 1 night package departs Luang Prabang daily at 9.00am, returning the following day before 4pm

We only stayed one night at this extraordinary residence, but we will definitely be back. Oliver and his team have created something genuinely unique, which is both amazing and humbling at the same time. You have no phone or internet, just the sound of the children’s laughter,

We really enjoyed our overnight stay here in this idyllic location. The accommodation was basic but perfectly adequate and comfortable. The food was amazing (too much) and they catered for vegetarians. We enjoyed our tour of the village and just wandering around. I really hope

We spent the second night of a three-day cruise down the Mekong from Houay Xai to Luang Prabang at this most interesting lodge. And we enjoyed every minute of our stay at this exceptional place. Located on the banks of the Mekong, far away from anything you might call

We stayed here for 2nights in October at the end of the rainy season. The journey up and down the Mekong was wonderful, so peaceful and beautiful scenery. The place is very unique, set in beautiful countryside by the Mekong river. The staff were all really friendly and helpful.

Hi - children are more than welcome to stay at Kamu Lodge, the thing to be mindful of (as the other traveler has suggested) is that the only access to and from the lodge is by boat. It's a steep walk on sand from the boat to the village area, however it's manageable for kids and our staff are on hand to assist as needed. Also need to be aware that there is only solar power to supply the hot water in the bathrooms and any electricity on property. The facilities in the tents are comfortable and on a terracotta tiled floor - the 4 of you would share in the same tent. The bathroom has a shower with no bathtub. If you would like any additional or specific information, please contact our team by email: info@kamulodge
