Everything was really good.. we had such fun and an interesting experience. Loved the beautiful gardens, rice fields, visiting the village and farm. 2 things.. the menus need updating with correct prices and for an eco village, having flushing toilets is a no no, composting toilets is the way to go. Thanks

We enjoyed everything about the entire experience. The boat trip up river begins the relaxation process and by the time you arrive, see the tents, setting amidst the rice paddies, and have lunch you feel like you are really on vacation. We stayed two nights, which I recommend if you can take the time. The first day was an opportunity...

If you are looking for a unique experience, this is it! After traveling down the Mekong for two days our stay at Kamu Lodge was the highlight of our experience. The local village people met us at the dock to assist us with our luggage. Their village is just a short walk over a footbridge and worth every moment to...

Let me start by saying this is glamping, not a high-end hotel. Everything is run by solar power, which means that if it’s cloudy…the shower will be cold and the only light you’ll have in your room is a flashlight. You’ll be completely off the grid here with no wifi and cell service or ability to charge your devices. If...

We stayed here as part of a wonderful 3 day cruise down the Mekong from north Thailand into Laos. This is a fascinating eco-tourist resort that seems to have a strong ethical relationship with the neighbouring village, providing various employments for the local people and paying the village when tourists visit. Lovely setting and attentive staff. Accommodation consists of large...

We arrived around lunchtime after a river boat trip up the Mekong, and were met by Oliver, the very charismatic and warm General Manager. You are accomodated in new and really comfortable and grand tents, which rely only on solar power. We were very privileged to be the only guests that day, and we were royally looked after. Oliver is...

It is definitely a special place, about 3 1/2 hours by boat from Luang Prabang, at the edge of a small Khamu village (That's why it is called Kamu Lodge). A few tents on a paved platform under a bamboo-straw hut with some views onto the Mekong river (if it isn't overgrown by the jungle). A bar and the restaurant...

It was something quite unexpected, to stay in a giant tent but with partial hotel facilities. There are no power points though, so be prepared to do without your gadgets and electronics. The entire place is very pleasant except the mosquitoes, so make sure u wear long to cover up or spray repellant. The staff provide good services. All in...

Very enjoyable stay at this Eco-lodge, which is what it says it is. No mains electricity, so when there is no sun, there is no hot water and limited power from it's batteries for it's glamping accommodation. 24 of 28 staff are from next door Kamu village. Food is adequate but bearing in mind the facilities can't be faulted. Well...

Getting to Kamu Lodge from Luang Prabang is an experience in itself. We travelled for 2/12 hours in a Lao long boat up the Mekong River. The river bank sights are superb with local people fishing or planting crops right up to the river's edge. There are many rapids and it was exhilarating to see the swirls and whirlpools of...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Sitting along the Mekong River, Kamu Lodge offers the unique opportunity to experience slow travel with accommodation in our spacious "African Safari" tents, each with a private balcony and thatched roofs. Our tents provide all necessary comforts and great river views. Using only solar power energy at the lodge, rooms have lights, fans and each has an en-suite private bathroom with shower facilities. The experience includes boat transfers to and from Luang Prabang. Step back in time visiting and getting to know the people from the neighboring Kamu Ethnic Minority Village. Activities include the chance to learn traditional crafts from the Kamu people of net fishing, gold panning and to learn with a "hands on" opportunity of rice planting and harvesting. We also offer traditional massages that complement the experience. Enjoy al fresco dining at the lodge's rustic restaurant in the middle of the rice fields. We serve Lao specialties, offering lunch, dinner and breakfast included in the package. There is also a well-stocked bar, offering a delicious selection of drinks and refreshments. Kamu Lodge is in Yoi Hai Village, a 2.5-hour boat ride from Luang Prabang, tour includes a stop at the revered Pak Ou Caves. The 2 day 1 night package departs Luang Prabang daily at 9.00am, returning the following day before 4pm ... more   less
