We just needed a place to sleep for the night having arrived late in the evening without a reservation. We got cheap a small room (as in space for a bed, small table and not much else) with no outside windows in Phousi 2. It smelt of smoke despite a no smoking policy but the fan helped with that. The...

We met a staff member in the city and asked for a 100.000 kip room and he promised there were plenty of rooms. We walked with him to the guesthouse, in opposite direction of what we had in mind. When we arrived he showed a room, which two other tourists had just refused to stay at, but the price was...

My partner and I arrived late after taking the slow boat from Pak Beng. We had made a booking but when we arrived they didn't have any note of it and had left a useless boy in charge. After numerous phone calls to the manager and a great deal of haggling over the price we were finally shown to a...

Truly a great place to stay, & the staff/ manager was wonderfully helpful. I was under my own misunderstanding about getting to Phonsavan/Plain of Jars. I was Wrongly annoyed with him, but despite that he was patient & helpful, including bus, hotel, etc. I was wrong, & wrong to be annoyed with him. I did apologize. I hadn't planned on...

The hotel's location is excellent, very close to Luang Prabang's walking street, steps from the Royal Palace Museum and Mount Phousi. The triple room we stayed in was clean with good air conditioning and decent free wifi. The only problem with the room was the lock on the door did not work properly and took several attempts for it to...

We arrived in Luang Prabang about 1:00 in the morning. We asked a tuk tuk driver to take us to Phousi 2( in lonely planet for about $10 a night). We did not know Phousi 2 was closed, so the driver took us to Phousi Guesthouse. The price for a private room was was about $30. This was much more...

I made a reservation for 7 nights, but after 5 nights they kicked me out because they could make more money off a group that wanted to check in. Unheard of. Besides that the rooms are small and noisy. The beds are not very comfy either. Luang Prabang is full of much better hotels for a better price. The on...

I stayed out of town in a hotel twice the price so I looked for better situation for next year. This place looked fine; I inspected some rooms, bathrooms and spoke to two families that stayed there. All good...and its half the price for what I paid. I think for Luang Prabang the key is locations. (Note: always check if...

I haven't been back to Luang Prabang since 1995, when there were just a handful of hotels. Now there really is no shortage of hotels and guesthouses since the big boom in tourism at this World Heritage Site. Personally, we prefer to pre-book before arriving, rather than have to schlep around lugging bags trying to find accommodation after travelling on...

I stayed at the Phousi with a group of students. The guesthouse was chosen for its location, next to the old palace, now national museum, and the block of restaurants in the city center. Apparently, this once family-owned business has been sold to Chinese investors. The rooms are not well maintained. When I turned on the air conditioner, water poured...
