We stayed in the Ice hotel with untravelled paths but did some activities on the frozen balea lake. Snowmobiling, rafting, banana rafting, tobbagon kind of thing. It was fun and good value 150 RON PP. The chalet is nice and fairly priced £1 for a hot chocolate I think is good value. Only downside is when you get tired in...

We stayed here with Untravelled Paths. The surrounding area is very pretty, however I do feel a bit of salt put down on the stairs and area outside would not go amiss, it was very slippery. The chalet staff do not speak English that well and they are rude and unfriendly. I thought there wasn't much selection of food if...

In winter, before you go there, you have to seriously discern the risk of avalanche when too much snow. Nice place and breathtaking landscapes. Both sides of the tunnel. Careful -especially in winter- where you step down when leaving the resort if you don't want to be picked up by the local "Salvamont" located right on the spot (both sides...

If you were to write a review on the landscape around Balea Lac Chalet you would run out of superlatives, the surroundings are truly stunning! The chalet however is a different matter. Unfortunately the service is beyond poor, the staff here were unapproachable, unfriendly and completely incompetent. If you wanted to order a second drink you will struggle to find...

It's a shame for this restaurant on having such an awful service. I went here two times with my friends and with my parents. Both times the service was unacceptable. It's a real pity that they have such an amazing view and so much potential on making anyone's experience a memorable one. Maybe thats because they don't have any competition.

Everywhere woodworkers and bot easy to see where we can enter the Building. Inside is really each and every table covered with dirty table blankets.it was bot clear to see if that is a selfservice restaurant.there is no toilet paper on any toilet in the entire building. The best thing we can say is the possibility to pay with Card....

I ate at Balea Lac chalet with my family. It was a terrifying experience I wouldn't recommend to anyone. The service was very poor and the food simply horrible. The waiter didn't bothered to clean the table until we asked for it. We ordered a local antipasto which came frozen and we couldn't eat it. The main dish (pork with...

At the top of the trafargarasan highway is this quaint simple lodge style hotel. Perched on the side of the Balea glacier. Cabin style rooms with LOTS of beds- see photos. This place works as you haven't got much choice. Very basic and very dated - but charming in its own way. Checkin is through the restaurant, which plays kind...

The place is very nice. The road to Balea is wonderful from both direction south (Curtea de Arges) or North (Cartisoara - Sibiu). It is reachable by car, by foot or by cable. So great till now. The only problem is form end of July to end of August when is more crowded than you can imagine. It could take...

Though it's a very touristic destination it worth visiting. Driving to the lake takes a serpentine road that ends up to 2037 meters altitude. We let women and children at the lake and we took the Saua Caprei path. It's a 30 minutes hike to a 2300 meters altitude spot that overlooks the lake plus another lake on the other...
