The best part of our stay at the hotel was the team who worked there. They were amazing. They were extremely friendly and always eager to help with everything. On our first evening in Zadar it was raining and we were heading out to dinner, so after a drink and app at the bar we grabbed an umbrella to head to the restaurant they recommended and made reservation for us. We were going to walk over and we were chatting with a couple of the guys asking directions because everything is very close in this lovely town of Zadar and as we were chatting, one of them offered to drive us to the restaurant. We knew him from taking care of us in the restaurant and the bar. It was such an incredible gesture. I mean, when does that ever happen! He dropped us off and we had an incredible meal at the recommended restaurant. Also, Mario who was one of their concierges helped with all the car bookings for us which turned out great. The hotels entire team was top notch, friendly and extremely professional. We spent time every evening before heading out and about for dinner either at their bar or on the patio for a bit of food and drink and we came back after our dinners out to wind down for the evening. I wish I wrote down the names of these incredible staff members because they were outstanding. All members of their team tended to our every need (i.e., restaurant recommendations/reservations, shopping areas, directions, etc.) and were extremely pleasant at all times. Every day we were there we did eat/drink some sort of meal at the hotel (i.e. breakfast, lunch, snacks, dinner, etc. We honestly can’t say enough about the hotel, it is fantastic. There is no doubt we will go back to Hotel Bastion the next visit to Zadar and we highly recommend it!! We loved Zadar and absolutely plan to be back there and the hotel. Thank you so much for everything Hotel Bastion! All the best, George & Donna from New York
The breakfast was mediocre compared to all the others we had in Croatia. On. Both days the poached eggs were very over cooked and the coffee machine often didn’t work . Rather a limited selection of other items. We didn’t have other meals at the hotel as seemed over priced compared to the numerous other restaurants in the area, also no one ever seemed to be eating there which meant no atmosphere.
The suite itself was lovely and the staff very professional
I arrived late and was given my room, I was hoping for a late check out until 2pm but was told very clearly that they are simply fully booked. As a result of this they can pretty much charge what they want in the summer season.
The room was spacious, two single beds pushed together with different mattress qualities. It really lacked natural light but at least had a high ceiling.
Breakfast was included in their quite dingy restaurant. Service wasn't always great. I ordered eggs one morning which never arrived and had to submit my order again. Things were eventually replaced when they ran out.
The lobby area is small and all the photos of the hotel give a vibe that it is much bigger than it really is. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice hotel, for me it was probably a little over priced but then you are really paying for the location.
Food was ok but expensive for what it was.
The only problem was finding the hotel. The street in the front of the hotel is only accessible by the hotel staff. There is only a very small sign in the parking area that lets you know you have arrived. GPS leads you to the parking but the signage could be improved. I suggest you call the hotel when you get in the area and the can direct you to the proper parking area.
The staff of the hotel was very friendly and accommodating to our needs and even invited us to join them in watching a football match Croatia vs Spain.
