I decided upon a central location in Dubrovnik old town and this fits the bill. But the centrality comes with caveats! The old town means old buildings and narrow streets with smallish rooms and having to pass by the tourist crowds everywhere you go.
As an Old Town location it is ideal. However my room was basic with a cold water hand basin only. My "own" shower and toilet were separate but OK, except there was no hot water access, apart from the actual shower. I've slept in more...More
Located in the old town up a lot of stairs, but can't beat location

The room was somewhat small but clean and came with ac and fridge. Don't expect silence during the night as the guesthouse is very close to Dubvronik's party center.
