This hotel is about 10 blocks from the main part of town, but within walking distance and a Tuk Tuk is very reasonable. Room was clean and bathroom was good. Chimneys help cool the room. Breakfast came with the room and it was great. The bed was harder than we were accustomed. The second night we cured the bed problem,...

Old style hotel on the outskirts of Antigua with excellent views of the surrounding volcanoes from the terrace restaurant. Good clean accommodation although a little basic. Friendly and helpful staff. Restaurant was a little more expensive than restaurants in town which are approx 20-30 mins walk away down Antigua's iconic cobbled streets. Slightly irritated that the hotel charges for bottled...

I went on a conference/retreat at Villa Colonial. I was impressed that the hotel is only 20 years old, but it feels architecturally like it was built 200 years ago. It is a twenty minute walk to the plaza which I liked because we were close enough to go, but far enough away to feel more secluded. The food was...

I stayed at the Villa Colonial in Antigua with eleven companions from the USA for one night while visiting Antigua. The hotel is very spacious, clean, and has quiet rooms. It was luxury compared to a two star hotel we had been staying at in a much smaller city. The staff was very competent and courteous. We had a very...

What a beautiful hotel. You walk past the lobby and you look over the grounds of the hotel. It looks like their own private Plaza. Large grounds with exotic plants and a swimming pool at the far end with lounge chairs. You walk through a small court yard and then there are the rooms. Very modern bathrooms and very clean....

Lovely setting on the edge of town. Rooms in little blocks on their own little cobbled 'roads'. Nothing fancy, but adequate. Working showers (and hot). Good snacks and service in small bar/restaurant. Adequate breakfast and nice views to active volcano in distance. Lovely kept gardens with a lovely small but warm swimming pool at the far end. Walking distance to...

It’s on the outside of town which means large coaches can stop here so groups like it and although at night on the whole it’s quieter than sleeping in town as it also caters for functions and we had one evening where we were disturbed by a band quite late into the night. Add to this the tour groups arriving...

The hotel is located on a quiet street just outside the city centre but it is only a short walk in. It is a typical colonial hotel and has a large open courtyard and the rooms are in a sort of "typical village" street inside the hotel! On reflection it is built as a sort of "mini" town. The room...

We stayed at Villa Colonial for my birthday in february. It´s a cozy hotel, with great Antigua colonial style. The restaurant is very convenient for breakfast and dinner, specially because the hotel is pretty far from the plaza and all the hustle and bustle. It´s not centrally located, you NEED a car. The pool is disappointing, so small. I was...
