We could not have been more pleased with our 2 night stay at Hotel la Catedral. Our welcoming margaretia was delicious and we enjoyed it while sitting in the beautiful courtyard. The tropical flowers and hummingbirds added to the ambiance of this setting. Our room was very clean and comfortable. It was so nice to be just steps away from...

Hotel la Catedral, with just eight rooms tightly situated around a small, lush patio, is less a hotel than a bed and breakfast. If this is your first time in Antigua and you’re forking over $100 a night for a hotel, know that $100 in Antigua, in terms of standard issue hotel amenities, buys you less than in Guatemala City...

We made a reservation for 4 nights directly with hotel management well in advance - asking for a room that will accomodate a couple+(tentatively) our grown up son. Asked again if the room is large enough for 3 and received a positive answer. Arriving there, with our "muchillero" son, we received room #3 with 2 dbl beds, where with 2...

My wife spent a fleeting two nights at this excellent hotel located just a stone's throw from the central square. We were given a room allocated to us despite the fact we arrived late into the night due to a delayed flight. The next morning we were told by the excellent Marco that a long standing client of the hotel...

The Hotel staff are sorry for the inconvenience we caused by moving you to another room. The reason for this was that your original room had been booked by someone else for a seven day period and specifically asked for that room. Thanks to TripAdvisor our team realized we fulfill your expectations and hope to have the opportunity to serve...

La Catedral is a lovely boutique hotel with just about the best location imaginable in Antigua (it is just off the Central Park). It is an easy task to walk anywhere in town. The rooms are quiet and comfortable. All the rooms face an interior courtyard (in the traditional colonial/hacienda style) which is a great place to sit, relax, drink...

I’ve spend 11 nights in two different rooms there on my recent Guatemalan Adventure and I was absolutely thrilled !! The hotel is a quiet oasis just off the Parque Central, so location-wise it’ doesn’t get any better in Antigua. With only 8 rooms inside an old colonial building you feel more like at home than in a hotel. The...

We spent several weeks online scouting places to stay for our trip to Antigua a few weeks ago, and the reviews--and reasonable prices--brought us invariably to Hotel la Catedral. It is not the most expensive or most luxurious hotel in the city, I'm sure, but you'll be hard-pressed to feel more at home, more welcomed and more relaxed than right...

The rooms were well furnished and comfortable, quiet considering it's a block from La Catedral and the center of town; the staff is attentive, friendly, and ever helpful. The breakfast was very good. Improvement needed. I understand this is not a five star, major chain hotel, but it needs to have their basics covered. During checkout time, I had to dig in for cash to pay for laundry. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel La Catedral is an authentic Spanish Colonial house, originally built as part of the "Palacio de los Capitanes Generales" in the center of Antigua, Guatemala. Its construction began in 1558. The space was rebuilt in 1754 and it was used as the residence of the General Capitan. The hotel is located one block from the Central Park and the Cathedral (Catedral de Santiago). It is within a minute or two walking distance from many restaurants, cafes, boutiques, and Spanish Colonial ruins. As one of the original structures in Antigua, Hotel La Catedral preserves its charm and elegance and it has been completely restored to bring you all the comfort and rest you're looking for during your stay. It has a very cozy and romantic environment, just like Antigua itself. The hotel has 8 rooms with a King Size bed or with two Full Size beds. Each room individually decorated to give you a slightly different feel each time you visit us. All of them are equipped with Flat Panel TV set, DVD Player, Cable TV, Security Box, Wireless Internet (at no additional cost), telephone and alarm clock. All bathrooms are stylishly and individually designed with antique marble. All toiletries and hair dryer also included. All our rates include, Full a La Carte Breakfast, free international calls to designated countries (time limited) and private parking in the same location.
