We haven't stayed here since before the pandemic. We come up to visit family. The room we had was quite spacious and well-appointed. The main lobby has a gas fireplace but it's not a place that really invites lounging. Staff is all very friendly. The bar is not to be missed, thanks to Alex, the bartender! He is friendly and charming. And skip dessert while you're out and have the warm chocolate cake and a cocktail at the bar while you chat with Alex.
We immensely enjoyed our stay at the newly renovated Andover Inn. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed as royal guests by the Inn’s attentive staff and manager extraordinaire Brian. Thanks to Brian’s impromptu American history talk, we learned about the notable guests who visited the Inn and the illustrious history of Phillips Andover Academy. Brian also made our visit most memorable by suggesting we visit the nearby Addison Gallery. Highly recommend, the superbly managed Andover Inn.
Have stayed there numerous times (and lived next door to it for two years in boarding school!)-- it always delivers in true Yankee style. Immaculately clean with friendly and efficient service, the bathrooms are new, the food is good, the beds are comfortable, the windows open, it's very quiet, and the rooms are simple. Totally relaxing.
Beautiful inn right near downtown Andover. Rooms are nicely furnished and very clean. Beds are really comfortable. As the inn is small, guests often need to book in advance as it can be fully occupied. Highy recommend the inn if you are travelling to this area.
Wonderfully located and charming. The comfort of the room is luxury like however the heat blared loudly and continually through the night via a wall vent. There is no way of adjusting the temperature unless you turn on the a/c fan (more noise), yet that does not manage to decrease the intense 72 degree dry heat. There is no way of turning the heat off either. I sadly can not recommend this venue it deserves zero for comfort if one can not sleep.
Quaint and beautiful location. Forced hot air heating was loud and dried out my mouth and sinuses. Internet was ok but I had to send a business email from my room to a ton of people in the CC but it wouldn’t send unless I was in the lobby. Great location.
You cannot beat the location of this inn if you have a child interviewing at Andover or if you want to see the wonderful museum across the street. The staff were all very courteous. While the main part of the hotel was fine, our second floor room had a distinctively damp, mildew smell. You didn’t smell it in the hall, but you walked into our room (and bathroom) and it hit you in the face. We didn’t want to make a fuss, but if I return I will definitely ask for a different room.
I was pleased to discover this lovely restaurant across the way from the museum on the campus of a Phillips Academy in Andover. The menu is excellent and the selection of salads and sandwiches is great. Their coffee is an Italian roasted bean that was wonderful.
This Inn is in a grand historic building surrounded by the lawns and trees of the school. Our room was very much in keeping with the building - spacious, with high ceilings and gabled windows, elegant furnishings and a lovely view of the grounds. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom a good size - although it could have done with more shelving for toiletries. The room was nice and quiet for sleeping. We had two breakfasts and a dinner in the classically decorated restaurant. It felt special to have a la carte service for breakfast rather than the buffet one often gets with a hotel. All meals and service were excellent. Overall, our 3 night stay was a great experience!
The Andover Inn was fabulous lodging for our family reunion. The rooms are spacious and modern with a generous sized bathroom - great shower with plenty of hot water. We are from the mountains of Colorado and really struggled with the heat and humidity. The air conditioner in our bedroom was perfect - the cold air blew in from the ceiling by the closet and kept the room at a comfortable temperature. The cold air did not blast directly on the bed which is significantly important to us. Family gatherings were planned for the Andover Town Hall which was within walking distance of the Andover Inn. The Andover Inn restaurant served delicious entrees and appetizers.
